Max Factor mega shiny roll on wet look flavoured lip glosses were a craze at junior school in the mid 70s. Real risk of trapping flies if you went out in summer

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 20/01/2016 13:37

Oh Sensiq- yes, very very trendy because their eyeshadow pots were oval rather than round!

ToddlerOverload · 20/01/2016 17:18

Ahhh heather shimmer, earth star and amarige... I actually had to squirt myself with amarige last time I saw it on a counter, just for old times sake. It brought my fake fur collared leather jacket days flooding back 😳

sarah2011 · 20/01/2016 19:44

All the 'fit' boys wore dior farenheight or aqua Di gio back in the day!
Ahhhhh morello cherry lip balm!
Do you know what I am going to buy myself a bottle of tribe now just for nostalgia - wonder If it will smell crap ha.

My mother was obsessed with almay foundation and she had that ultra glow too, she wacked that much on the powder brush was permanently sideways- brutal application of colour

I had m and s forest fern- gorgeous- so was magnolia, and all the girls in school had the 'peach' deodorant - it was like breathing in talc in our changing room

Love this trip down memory lane.

Perfumes..yy Lou Lou, Giorgio Beverley Hills, Moon & Stars, White Musk. Opium, Kouros, Jazz for the boys.

Lipstick such a pale pink it made your teeth look yellow.

Shops & clothes...Razzle Dazzle, Sock Shop, Benetton, Dash, (lots of fakes around when everyone went back to school after summer holidays to Spain),
does anyone remember pastel coloured brogues with clear plastic soles? Bought from Saxone. Loved them and would wear them now if they came back best they don't

Sun-In - god yes I was a heavy user and denied denied denied it.

Cartoon denim, ripped denim, bleached by domestos in the bath denim, zip denim. omg we were inventive with denim.

Grolsch bottle tops on brogues/Doc Martens.

I remember pink & grey and yellow & grey were big colour combos for a while.

Tucker boots.

And I still totally love all of it Grin

Body Shop banana conditioner (with real banana-y black bits in it)

The smell of it just came flooding back; it was brilliant stuff, that. The Body Shop was amazing, wasn't it?

Redlocks28 · 20/01/2016 20:59

What went wrong with The Body Shop!?!

mrsjskelton · 20/01/2016 21:04

Hair mascara Grin

MissBattleaxe · 20/01/2016 21:49

What went wrong with The Body Shop!?!

L'Oreal bought it and made it another faceless boutique. I loved it as a student and could always afford a little treat, but these days its just Body Butter and overpriced make up. The prices are not even remotely competitive.

sarah2011 · 20/01/2016 21:56

Just bought tribe. I would give anything yo have old school body shop back, it was five a lovely little treat, the baskets with cling film and shredded paper, the animal soaps, even the green biodegradable bags were a thing if beauty. F@ck off loreal we will never forgive you!

When I first started with make up it was Constance Carroll/Carole/Caroll (HTF do you spell that?!). Then I got a bit older and more sophisticated (fnar) and moved on to the Miss Selfridge make up. I coveted it so badly that every time I bought a (hideous) lipstick or a nail varnish (that I'd gloop on) I was soooo thrilled.

MistyMeena · 20/01/2016 22:43

Another Heather Shimmer fan here...also remember the minty lip gloss, lip cote, Body Shop White musk and /or Dewberry. Samsara for a night out. YSL Jazz on a boy I secretly fancied.

ZaZathecat · 21/01/2016 08:32

just catching up with this thread again and Janeymoo reminded me of Linco Beer shampoo - I remember having some in a little beer-barrel shaped container!

mogchothra · 21/01/2016 09:56

Hair mascara, usually free with Shout magazine 😃 My first lipstick was Avon Iced Champink and my perfume was Moon And Stars. My morning hair routine was to get a round brush, spray the shit out of it with hairspray and then roll it under my fringe to create the perfect 'arch'. Oh to be 12 again...

NotQuitePerfect · 21/01/2016 10:18

Insett Hair Mousse - "🎤 It's a hairdressing secret, that's no secret anymore .... Insett, Insett, Insett ...... 🎼"

Aronde 10p range of skin care products from Woollies.

Wearing a velvet ribbon choker with a 'pearl' or 'diamond' stitched to the front and fastened with Velcro at the back.

Miners did a mauve-y brown nail polish called 'Gaumont' which I thought was the very height of sophistication.

Fabellini · 21/01/2016 12:29

Most of my memories are perfume ones - Boots 17 did one called "Lemon Drench" and the talc had silvery glitter in it, I loved it!
The Miss Selfridge did one too, I can't remember what it was called but I thought it was gorgeous too, and since we lived in the Highlands of Scotland and the nearest Miss Selfridge was in Edinburgh, I felt so sophisticated wearing it, and none of my friends had it! I also remember getting a bottle of "Poison" from Jenners when it was the only place in Scotland that stocked it - I think that was when it very first came out.....it wasn't long before everyone absolutely reeked of it.
I loved Woodleigh Green shampoo too....spent most of my teenage years smelling like a fruit salad!

MissBattleaxe · 21/01/2016 12:46

Boots did a shampoo that was pale blue called Sea Kelp and I adored that smell. Sadly long gone now.

NattyGolfJerkin · 21/01/2016 20:24

The boots naturals smellies range - their answer to the body shop's offerings. I loved the sea kelp shampoo and the raspberry one too.

AuldAlliance · 21/01/2016 21:15

Sea Kelp shampoo was great.

'Twas all so much better in the old days.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/01/2016 21:21

Lemon drench yes Grin
My DSis bought "Rainflower" it was lovely (madly jealous i didn't buy any)

MissBattleaxe · 21/01/2016 21:24

Some products do get remade through popular demand so its always worth an email to HQ. Avon brought back Timeless because the customers just wouldn't stand for it being discontinued.
