Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

MrsMac Grin
I binned an empty 500ml bottle fo Bioderma micellar water last night. A staple, a bottle lasts six months, and this must be my favorite cleanser.

Oh, and I only got lovely Christmas presents this year - no unwanted bath&body stuff! Grin

Happy Christmas to everyone on this thread!

Ememem84 · 25/12/2015 21:17

New items for my stash today - new jo Malone perfume and body moisturiser. Molton brown shower gels.

Sirzy · 27/12/2015 11:57

I have finished off a soap and glory body butter!

But I have added in the big soap as glory set and 3 no 7 gift sets. And getting the ultimate no 7 thing for my birthday in 2 weeks so attempts to shrink the collection aren't going too well!

Ememem84 · 27/12/2015 14:52

I've just done a "stock take"

7 shower gels
4 moisturisers
2 eyeshadow pallets
2 mascara's
3 foundations
2 face moisturisers
3 cleansers
10 face wipes
3 deodorants
8 eyeliners (4 pencil one liquid one felt tip one gel)
3 exfoliators (1 body 1 face 1 feet)

IPokeBadgers · 28/12/2015 12:23

Finished a crabtree and evelyn shower gel - nice but won't repurchase. Also a mini Molton brown shower gel, an elderflower one that was OK but wouldn't buy the fullsize.

Got a few bits and pieces for Xmas but nothing excessive. And avoided a few near-purchases.....I was nearly guilty of buying the no 7 ultimate collection but stopped myself as I just have so much still to use up.

Belated Christmas greetings to all, hope all have had a healthy and happy few days.

This fell off my threads I'm on! Phew back on the thread Grin

I did really well at Christmas and hardly got any posh smellies so I haven't really added to the stash. DH Di my usual stocking with the bits I know I'll use over the year so I don't count those in terms of using up stuff.

I'm nearly at the end of a Laura Geller Balance and Brighten. I'm definitely repurchasing at some point, but until then I've got a couple of liquid foundations to use up.

FiveShelties · 28/12/2015 20:16

One M & S Lemon Verbena Body Butter done - I really liked this - dare not purchase again as there are so many moisturisers in the stash. One Tresemme Shampoo finished - that took ages to use, it was so big - no need to replace.

dogdaydisaster · 29/12/2015 12:17

I have finished a few bits over Christmas. Aussie 3 minute miracle conditioner, which I have a backup for as it's the one I like best. A bog standard shampoo, I tend to only keep a single spare of shampoo and conditioner so they don't really count. I've also done a L'occitane mini shampoo and almond shower oil, which was lovely.

DD has also taken an eye shadow palette off my hands.

I did get a few bits for Christmas, but most of it is shower gel etc so will be easy enough to use up.

Skincare is down to a manageable amount (for me). I have 4 cleansers that I rotate depending on what I feel like using and like all of those. I have one eye cream, 2 day serums, 2 night oils and a basic day moisturiser. I haven't bought anything new since June.

Make up however is another matter. And nail polish Grin

Ememem84 · 29/12/2015 18:59

I finished an aussi miracle moist conditioner yesterday. It's nice. But not as good for my hair as tresseme red.

Nail polish was all sold on Facebook. Apart from 2 bottles which I use on my toes. Fingers get gel manicures.

FiveShelties · 01/01/2016 16:39

A No 7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream finished today - I am 'cheating' at the moment and finishing all the part used items. No need to replace, many others t use up.

Paperblank · 01/01/2016 16:58

Fiveshelties You're not cheating at all!! That's exactly how this thread started Grin

FiveShelties · 01/01/2016 17:36

Thank you Paperblank - I lurked for ages before I joined in and had forgotten how it all started. Smile

Kwick709 · 01/01/2016 21:34

Please let me join this thread! I thought I was the only one! I have a large stock pile of shower gels, deoderants, lip balms and samples plus loads of make-up...

I get great satisfaction from finishing off products but constantly want to buy/try more.

Only this morning - before I knew of the existence of this thread - I gave a Aussie dry shampoo (made my hair even greasier), a Zerreau towel off shampoo (as above) and a Green Apple face cream to my SIL.

I subscribe to both Glossybox and You! As soon as I make a free box with my glossydots I will be cancelling my subscription though in a bid to reduce costs and stockpiles.

I have tried selling some items on ebay... Did you know that 4 is the maximum number if nail polishes you can post together?????

This morning I finished a Molton Brown small body lotion, and yesterday I finished a C.O. Bigelow lip balm - from the USA - really good but time to move on. I now am using Carmex... Bit of a disappointment.

Anyway threaders - thanks for the inspiration and tips :)

Kwick709 · 01/01/2016 22:25

Btw have just finished Decleor Aromessence Marjolaine night balm - very nice and lasted ages but am moving on to a sample of Darphin Essential Oil Elixir from tomorrow... When that is fone have some Clinique samples to get through....

FelicityFixIt · 02/01/2016 11:56

Are you all on MrsGloss&TheGoss over on Facebook? I recently joined a thread over there dedicated to using stuff up and not buying any more! There's also loads of budget buy tips but don't read the rest of it too closely as loads of enabling going on as well!

Kwick709 · 02/01/2016 15:51

Less than 24 hours after pleading to join the thread I fell off the wagon - just board some "budget" beauty treatments as per Caroline Hirons: Garnier body cream, Garnier BB cream, Clearsil pads, Olia hair dye ( for when I need to dye hair in a couple of weeks) and Loreal age perfect cleanser... Blush at least this was all on Boots points...

Paperblank · 02/01/2016 17:00

You're allowed an odd slip-up Kwick

Just don't do it again!!

I have never fallen off the wagon

FiveShelties · 03/01/2016 17:23

kwick - I work on the theory that if I was never 'bad' how would I know when I was being 'good'.

I have decided to clear some of the samples and small items - so an Ultra Life Face Moisturiser gone today - felt quite good to use and I have more so will definitely use them.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/01/2016 17:44

During our holiday trip, used up two full-size bottles of suncreen (Nivea, Ambre Solaire), a facial sunscreen (Biore Watery Essence), a travel-size mini sunscreen (Banana Boat), and a mini hairspray (Nexxus). Bought a gift set of Nuxe miniatures, mainly because I wanted a travel-size Huile prodigieuse.

An empty today: a full-size Aveda Rosemary & Mint shampoo. Have had it around for a couple of years, smells great but does not lather properly with hard water. A bit meh.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 05/01/2016 17:13

I've moved on to some sample sizes things now too, finished a moisturiser I can't remember the name of so it couldn't have impressed me much Grin I'm using up a Chanel one at the moment but hoping its crap cos I won't be spending £90 on a face cream! Also finished a philosophy face scrub and a Garnier bb cream.

Nice to see things disappearing finally!

legohurtswhenyoustandonit · 05/01/2016 18:39

I've finished off a bottle of the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser. I'm back to using protect and perfect night cream and much prefer it. Although it is richer it seems to soak in more and doesn't look shiny.

Kwick709 · 05/01/2016 20:33

paperblank I appreciate the forgiveness :) fiveshelties I LOVE your philosophy which I am completely plaigarising... Imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery...

I am working my way through some Clinique trial sizes - quite like the Moisture Surge... i have not used Clinique since I was a teenager a very very long time ago

I am extremely tempted to have a splurge in The Body Shop to try out Vitamin C range... I really should resist! My SIL gave me a lovely box of Origins products last night.... I probably do not need to buy any shower gel until 2017!!!

Ememem84 · 06/01/2016 07:37

I'm almost finished clarins eye cream. This is a staple for me. I have more stashed away. Have somehow acquired a lot more travel size products. Might start using these up again. Means I get more empties quicker!
