Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

well thanks for the input. I'll give them a test out and see how I go.

I used the tresseme mousse one a while ago. Absolutely dreadful. So don't even bother with that.

Fancyasandwichbacon1 · 14/07/2016 01:24

Is it too late for me to join? My collection of make up, body oils and hair products for my curly is getting out of hand and I seriously need to use some up before I buy more but it's so tempting to buy more stuff! Not even expensive stuff, I just like trying new products!

Fancyasandwichbacon1 · 14/07/2016 01:26

And also thank you to welltidy as I have been suffering with an itchy scalp the past couple of days and couldn't work out way but you have just made me realise it coincided with me trying out dry shampoo for the first time

FrustratedFrugal · 14/07/2016 07:59

Welcome Fancy! It is never too late to join! I thought I was beyond help but my stash has shrunk quite a bit over the past year. If you want a flying start, start with minis and samples and half-full jars and bottles!

kwick · 14/07/2016 08:15

Thanks frustrated!

I agree with welltidy although I seem to perserveer... Right now I am trying put the clay Elvive dry shampoo (seems to make my hair greasier Hmm) and the Rush one (no feedback yet).

Welcome fancy!!! This post is definitely helping me to use stuff up rather than hoard it... But my love of the new is still there!

FrustratedFrugal · 14/07/2016 11:51

Kwick I am almost done with a mega bottle of Elvive conditioner that also seems to make my hair greasier. It was, of course, bottomless. I've only been able to use it after my hair has felt a bit fried after highlights but now there is Olaplex aftercare so the bottle has languished in the bathroom. After that, I can go back to my lovely regular conditioner.

kwick · 14/07/2016 20:21

Finished Clearsil 5 in 1 cleanser pads - I love these as they are good value and help sort spots when I get them. I use maybe once every 3 days otherwise. No need to replace right now as my friend just came back from US with Stridex (or something like that) pads which I saw recommended on a vlog...
I had a bit of a splurge today as I was assembling the elements for a gift for my cousin of my favourite cleansers and could not resist popping things in for me too!!!

FreeButtonBee · 14/07/2016 22:27

FINALLY finished the clarins beauty flash balm. Cut open the end and slathered the last of it all over my chest as well as over face. Won't repurchase. I don't love the texture and there are better primers available these days.

Also finished a travel size sanctuary body lotion - gift from MIL. Didn't like and it made my post shave legs sting. Glad it's done. Sadly I still have another 3 or 4 travel size body moisturiser from MIL to use up. All too heavily scented for me. So will use on legs only.

Am nearing the end of a Korean honey serum essence. O have a back up by need to use another similar product first which I don't like as much. It's only 15ml and half used so shouldn't take long.

kwick · 15/07/2016 07:11

Congrats free!!! Wow that lasted forever!

Finished Facial Radiance Pads - really did not see how these were effective... But came in container that is ideal for travel so will refill with my lovely Stridex pads :)

applesandpears33 · 15/07/2016 18:48

I bought some empty travel size bottles from Boots a couple of months ago. There are three bottles, spray tops and a smaller tub and they come in a toilet bag. It means that once I have finished all the samples in my stash I can fill up some of the bottles rather than buy more travel size items to add to the hoard. I've already used them for shampoo, conditioner and stuff for DD.

kwick · 15/07/2016 19:51

apples I have been thinking to do the same but have always had major leakages from these sets in the past - have never bought Boots ones though. Let me know how you get on please.

applesandpears33 · 15/07/2016 20:16

I've used them for three trips now and no leakages from any of them. Shampoo, conditioner and de-tangle spray seem to be the only things I don't hoard!

Ememem84 · 15/07/2016 22:04

apples me too! Although I mainly bought them for the clear bag. But they are great. I've been using them for the gym too. Makes me feel as though I'm really making a dent.

This weekend will use up a cleanser/toner from clarins (sample size) a mini body wash and am going to start the sample size bumble & bumble surf spray.

Fancyasandwichbacon1 · 15/07/2016 23:56

Inspired by the thread I went through all my make up today and separated it into separate tubs for lip products, foundations/Bob creams etc and eyeliners/mascaras. I like the idea that I think someone mentioned further up the thread that if I just have a couple of things on the go at once when I've finished one I can essentially 'shop' my stash so it's like having something new. Working my way through some bits that had half to a third left so almost finished my simple kind to eyes make up remover which did quite a job actually and have one face pad left in some kiko toning pads which will be finished in the morning! Yay! Loving this thread!

Fancyasandwichbacon1 · 15/07/2016 23:56

Bob creams?! That should be bb creams!

kwick · 16/07/2016 09:02

I am giving up on a Natural Collection lip liner Mulberry - the lid always squashes the lead!

FreeButtonBee · 16/07/2016 20:18

Finished a sanctuary rose and pistachio body lotion - meh - and a mustela stretch mark cream - quite nice but didn't do much for the stretch marks! Both sample/travel sized. I have a white co hotel freebie body lotion to use and then onto another MIL gift. Nearly finished a shower gel (hotel sample) - mandarin scent which is quite nice but I prefer my aromatherapy associates shower gel or korres lemon basil for summer. Think they will be my go tos from now on.

Ememem84 · 17/07/2016 22:05

Picked up some hotel freebees today from my weekend away. A couple of shower gels, shampoo conditioner and some body lotion.

kwick · 18/07/2016 07:19

I spent a lot of time on ebay and amazon last night looking at storage options for my makeup and skincare stuff... Especially for makeup, the box I currently use is so full I cannot see what I have. Anyway I hopefully Have bought so good options.

FiveShelties · 18/07/2016 10:56

No 7 Beautiful Skin Body Lotion used up and I even cut off the top to use the last bit - so economical! Have enough Body Butter/Lotions etc to last me around a year now so definitely made a huge dent in The Stock. I am down to one one shampoo - never, ever been known before and the shower gel is also decreasing very well.

When we moved here in March 2014 I had four storage crates full of stuff and am down to one very full one now - so for over two years I have hardly purchased anything! Until I put everything in one place I had absolutely no idea just how much stuff there was. Grin

dogdaydisaster · 18/07/2016 14:43

I've had no empties in ages and am getting through a good few at the moment.

Finally finished up the L'Occitane almond shower oil. Which according to this thread, I started in mid-April. I liked it but am very glad to be onto something else.

Also finished a Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, and a Lancome mini mascara. The Liz Earle is a staple and I have backups, and the mini mascara is from a sephora kit where you get a few minis and a voucher for a full size once you've chosen which one you like. I did like this but was on holiday in the US so grabbed the full size of the first one I liked.

dogdaydisaster · 19/07/2016 09:48

fiveshelties, that's amazing. I have pretty much exhausted my excess body lotions, shower gels and skincare. I will never be sone with makeup, as I can't resist the odd treat.

Finished a body lotion last night -the Ultra Shea Body cream from Bath and Body Works that I bought in the US in April. I wish I had bought more, as I really loved it. Just the right texture for me. I have two more to use up and then I may treat myself to another via ebay.

FreeButtonBee · 19/07/2016 13:40

Finished white co body lotion.

Got my hair chopped today jnto an alexa Chung -esque style. Am delighted and it's been cut to dry naturally/with minimal drying. But I think I will be able to use a by more product in it so time to get out all the surf spray and bumble and bumble products and USE them!

WellTidy · 19/07/2016 20:04

Great progress all round, well done all.

Finished another pink grapefruit mini shower eel from body shop. Liked very much but still a huge stash to get through. Also finished a st tropez gradual in shower fake tan. I have two more stashed so I am applying liberally! I love this product. It's so good for someone as poor at applying fake tan as I am. I stick to this or wash off versions.

Ememem84 · 21/07/2016 18:14

Almost finished a John frieda brilliant brunette shampoo and conditioner.
