Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

wedo - I certainly have not seen anything remotely cliquey on here. To me it is just a thread where I record my used up items and my lapses into temptation. To be honest most of the time I don't even notice who has posted the message.

I love to read whether people would re-purchase and hope the recommended products are still available in around 2025 when I have used some more stuff up.

I have used up 8 different samples of face moisturiser up and now am going to start on my very last pot of Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect face mosituriser.

Ememem84 · 08/07/2016 15:17

five I'm the same. I'm desperately trying to use stuff up so I can replace with new lovely stuff. I told Dh for my birthday I wanted lovely new make up. Sad thing is I don't think I'll have used it all by October Sad

I like reading about people's experiences it's put me off buying certain things so in a way has saved me money....

FreeButtonBee · 08/07/2016 21:06

It's only Ireland, nowhere glam! Oh ink I will take a few basics which are more ££££ and then buy some additional stuff which is cheap. So DD moisturiser - take. But buy a much as I can there. It'll be a day out!

applesandpears33 · 08/07/2016 21:23

A few more empties to add to the pile - a small perfume bottle, a sample bottle of the yellow clinique moisturiser and a travel size bottle of shower gel. Small wins but every little counts!

FreeButtonBee · 09/07/2016 10:16

How long Do you persevere with perfume bottles? Am allllllmost finished a bottle of flora by Gucci but there is a stubborn 2-3ml in the bottom. I have to pump it about 20 times to get a tiny bit out. Can I ditch or should I be virtuous and really use it all up?

applesandpears33 · 09/07/2016 10:30

I'd chuck it out. It sounds like too much hassle.

Ememem84 · 09/07/2016 10:44

Empty! Finished a Molton brown ylang ylang shower gel (the purple one). Ok but nothing special. Was given a set for Christmas. Wouldn't buy myself as too pricey for what they are.

Have a pink peppercorn one to use up next.

FiveShelties · 10/07/2016 10:49

Have used up lots of samples - L'Oreal Revitalift BB, two Magic Blur Cream and several others - not sure where they all came from.

A full size No 7 Beautiful Skin Shower Gel has gone and the matching body lotion is almost empty - I quite like both of these but have lots of other products to go before I re-purchase anything.

FitbitAddict · 10/07/2016 13:44

Had a good week - finished off bottles of conditioner, shower gel and cleanser. I already had spares of the first two. I also finished a lip balm and eye drops (spares of both in stock) and chucked out a 'no white marks' deodorant as it was a bare faced lie and a mascara that was supposed to colour my lashes also a bare faced lie

However, I got my Avon delivery yesterday and now have another lip balm, shower gel, wrinkle filler and perfume, plus I bought a crystal deodorant in Holland and Barrett and a Bare Minerals Invisible Light powder duo. Luckily my Avon lady has now put her flat up for sale and she's moving miles away so I can use my stocks!

FreeButtonBee · 10/07/2016 14:23

Right, thanks apples and pears. I think I will use it for two more days and then call it quits. Can't remember the last bottle of perfume I finished! I have a mini flora by Gucci to use up too. But will allow myslef the lovely caudalie perfume as I have finished a whole bottle which was my aim. And I would like something lighter for summer particularly as I'm not in work til September

CoolCarrie · 10/07/2016 14:53

I am new to this thread, but its been very encouraging. I am slowly working my way through the Soap and Glory stuff I got at christmas in the big pink case on sale at Boots.
Fell foul of Penhaligons sale though! Bought Lily of the Valley shower gel & perfume, but using it every day. Love Potion number 9 as well, using that at weekends.

kwick · 10/07/2016 20:38

free when you get to last perfume dregs you can always store in knicker drawer with top off - should evaporate after a few days/weeks.

welcome cool!!!

Have finished Origins incredible speadable body scrub and body wash both in Ginger Burst - both were great I am just not a big fan of the scent.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/07/2016 21:44

Boots Tea Tree and Charcoal wash (DS uses it) finished
I'm using an NSpa orangey shower gel that I bought DD for Christmas and she hadn't used.

There are a millionty bottles under the sink that I keep swapping round until they're done.

I need to plough through my makeup, I have some mascaras that need to go, but I've got at least 2-3 sealed ones to get on with

Ememem84 · 11/07/2016 07:49

Started a clarins shower gel yesterday. It's horrible. Really herby. I'm just glad I didn't pay for it (birthday gift). Will persevere with it as I don't like waste. But will not repurchase.

Can't wait until our bath is working so I can use as a bath foam. Will probably get rid of at least half the bottle in one go!

FreeButtonBee · 11/07/2016 08:23

Kwick. I wish origins did an unscented version of their body soufflé. It's the best body moisturiser but too strong for day to day.

IPokeBadgers · 11/07/2016 11:48

Gosh, well done to everyone managing to make progress on the various stashes. I am going to have to do a bit of digging in mine to see what products I am going to take on my two week holiday: it's a cruise so don't really want to be running out of the essentials or taking really good stuff....but at the same time, want to take some treat items because it is my holiday after all!

OP posts:
kwick · 12/07/2016 06:35

Two new empties: Loreal Preference high shine conditioner (comes in hair dye pack) and creme de la mer the treatment lotion - really dislike the smell, cannot see any amazing results.

Ememem84 · 12/07/2016 07:43

Empty. Batiste cherry dry shampoo. This is a staple for me.

I have three other dry shampoos to try - herbal essences, tresseme and a Pantene one I think. All were cheaper than batiste. But are they as good???

kwick · 12/07/2016 16:07

Ladies, I need some advice!
What are you recommendations for suntan lotion? I am fair skinned but can tan if given the right assistance Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 12/07/2016 16:44

I am in love with Japanese Biore Watery Essence sunscreen for my face. For my body, I tend to use Nivea spf 30.

Just back from a trip, I finished a mini shampoo. I think it was my last hotel shampoo, so I am allowed to hoard some on my next trip Wink

kwick · 12/07/2016 21:29

Thanks frustrated where do you get the Biore from?

kwick · 13/07/2016 07:00

Another empty: sample size Creme de la Mer moisturising lotion. Really do not want the fuss is about Hmm
Had a brain wave yesterday (well I think it is great but probably would have occured faster to others) - I can reuse the tin of my nearly finished Body Shop camomille face butter cleanser and decant coconut oil into it which has same purpose (and consistency).

FrustratedFrugal · 13/07/2016 07:46

Kwick I buy it from Amazon, just replenished my stash from a seller called Kyotostyle iirc.

I bought a new nail polish on my trip. I almost never paint my fingernails but to offset variable weather and staying at MIL's, I picked a minty shade at a supermarket where they were selling deeply discounted Essie. It's fun, a bit trashy looking, and my daughters also have matching fingers and toes - but who cares. I've enjoyed the green fingernails and found them surprisingly chip-resistant. So I might start using up my sizeable stash.

FrustratedFrugal · 13/07/2016 07:55

This is the facial sunscreen that I like. Shipping takes about a week (I'm not in the UK) and a tube lasts 1-2 months (used only on my face). It is quick-absorbing because it contains a lot of alcohol.

WellTidy · 13/07/2016 09:36

Emenem I have never found a dry shampoo that gets close to Batiste. I've bought loads including Boots and Superdrug in the past. I always buy the one for brunettes as otherwise I find it makes my hair look a bit grey and dank. But they leave huge amounts of residue and also make my scalp itch which means that the resideue comes off all over my hands when I scratch!

I ned to buy some travel size products from Boots today for holidays. In other years, I would just go in and buy everything I might possibly need. This year, I have made a list of what I have at home already that I will take, and can now only buy what I will actually use. Feeling very virtuous.

I've finished a miniature Body Shop pink grapefruit shower gel. Liked it very much, but will not replace as I still have a huge stash of Molton Brown and Body Shop shower gels to plough through.

Also finished Estee Lauder Pleasures perfume. Have replaced straight away as it was on offer with Groupon and its much go to summer perfume. Strangely, perfume is the only product I do not stash. I only have one on the go at any time.
