Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

frustratedfrugal there is this amazeballs pharmacy in Paris - nr st Germain, on Rue du four. They sell all the lovely stuff: caudalie, bioderma, nuxe, vichy, le roche and so on but at very good prices. It is always tres busy but worth it!

Welcome fit!!!

free WHERE DO YOU LIVE????????

I feel my addiction is getting worse but this is all I have after giving up alcohol Confused

kwick · 03/07/2016 19:36

I am very impressed with myself - I am not very good at using up body lotion - especially before the matching shower gel. But I did it this time: Origins Ginger Souffle whipped body cream. I loved how this went on, not so keen on the scent.

I have also finished Norfolk Lavender Olive Waterlily & Lavender hand and nail cream. Did not like the scent if this - have used up as a bosy lotion.

kwick · 03/07/2016 19:36

Oops body not bosy! Hmm

FrustratedFrugal · 03/07/2016 21:37

I can't belive I missed this makeup trend when I repotted my bronzer-blusher - #pizzahighlighter

Woodhill · 03/07/2016 21:55

I cancelled my beauty box subscription. Don't want anything else.

Have bought new make up though for a special occasion.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/07/2016 22:06

I will use up a Bodyshop Pink Grapefruit shower gel tomorrow (ready to put the bottle in the recycling) but fret not..............I bought a 750ml for £8 to replace it Grin Bargain.

I have some Bodyshop sample sachets that I'll try out this week

Sorted through my son's toothpaste and face gel collections, he hoards the empties and just starts a new one Hmm. He has been shown the error of his ways now.

WellTidy · 03/07/2016 23:08

I'm liking the sound of a make up lady teaching you how to use what you already gave kwick. How did it go and are you anywhere near me (Bromley)? I am not making a dent at all. Not in anything. It's so frustrating. In particular, I have enough eyeshadow to last 10+ years and I use the same five or so colours over and over and I'm STILL not hitting pan.

kwick · 04/07/2016 08:34

welltidy I am in North London. May I suggest that you look on Treatwell to see if you can find someone local to you.

FrustratedFrugal · 04/07/2016 16:58

WellTidy I had a long and frustrating period earlier this year when I was not finishing anything. Full-size products take a while. I stopped focusing on finishing and just started enjoying the products and now some of them are running out. Some products will take ages to finish. It took me two years to finish one shade in an eye shadow duo (very deep pans). I am using a too-yellow foundation as undereye coverup and a third of it is gone in a year - finishing it might take two more years The upside is that I haven't needed to buy anything in almost a year...

WellTidy · 04/07/2016 20:56

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I haven't bought anything except two of my favourite hand creams when I thought I was getting low, and then I found three that I had overlooked. I haven't bought anything else for myself this year, so I am keeping the faith. I am glad that I am doing this as I felt very low (sorry to sound dramatic) when I still my original stock take and realised just how many products of every type that I was hoarding. So j am still on track. And I am really enjoying getting through my body lotions and shower gels. Maybe the eye shadows will simply take a lot longer. I know that if I were to replace them though, I would just buy the same colours again in different packaging, so I am appreciating what have.

kwick, have you used the treatwell site please? I have had a look, but I can't see how I find mobile services.

kwick · 04/07/2016 22:37

welltidy I do not think you can search by mobile services on Treatwell but if you look for makeovers or make-up lessons hopefully someone in your area will pop up.

I have decided to make up a beauty box for my cousin's birthday with some of my favourite products. I am in Paris for a few days with work and I have spotted a pharmacy near to my hotel... Will try and fail to get anythibg for myself Grin

Paperblank · 04/07/2016 23:12

John Bell and Croydon in London is my favourite pharmacy

Was tidying up in the Baby's room and came across a load of mum to be smellies. GAH!

I am an ungrateful wretch as I had forgotten all about them (baby shower presents) and my stash has grown again. Confused

kwick · 05/07/2016 07:13

paper I LOVE JB&C... Have not been there in years - I feel I have been strong!

Have you thought about re-gifting them?

Ememem84 · 05/07/2016 18:45

I got sucked into the body shop on my way home. Three shower gels and a body butter. Raspberry, peach and apple.

Oops.

kwick · 06/07/2016 07:39

Two empties today, both sample size:

  • Clinique deep comfort body oil: nice while it lasted but I prefer other products better
  • Creme de la Mer the moisturising lotion: do not like smell and no miracle happened... Infact I think this aggravated my skin
WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 06/07/2016 16:09

RTFT and really need to join in!

In the bin this morning... Garnier Micellar Water, the 125ml on the go size...full size one ready to replace it! Don't think I'll ever get through all my nail varnishes and lipsticks though...ever!

WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 07/07/2016 10:46

Another empty this morning, Toni & Guy Nourish Brunette conditioner. Probably repurchase. Next to finish is the last two or three squeezes of 3 minute miracle!

Yep katie I think my addiction has got worse since being on this thread... BUT I DO NOT CARE!!!! I am feeding a passion and finding such delight that it must be good for me if not my pocket!!!!

I watched a YouTube video last night - it seems Tati one of my favourite You Tubers makes about 8k a month from You Tube... If only I was more photogenic and knew what I was talking about I would do the same Grin

FreeButtonBee · 07/07/2016 20:47

Finished one bottle of sun sense kiddy spf50 sun cream. I didn't even managed to finish a sample size shower gel. Bit of affair on he holiday toiletry usage

I now have a dilemma. Am going to parents holiday house for two weeks with 3 children under 4. I am planning to take one suitcase on the plane so not a lot of room for toiletries. Do I try to stuff the case with things tonuse up or just buy new out there? I can leave it all there as we will be going out at least twice a year.

WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 07/07/2016 21:06

Another empty...Boots nail polish remover pads... but as this thread seems quite cliquey and you only get a response/encouragement if your face fits (which mine clearly doesn't!) I'll start writing my little achievements in a book at home instead and cheer myself on. So disappointed as I thought I'd found kindred spirits.

Woodhill · 07/07/2016 22:58

Haven't noticed, just find this thread very encouraging. Holiday next week so will take mini sizes.

Ememem84 · 08/07/2016 07:07

wedo I hadn't noticed that. I too found the thread very encouraging.

kwick · 08/07/2016 08:00

wedo I have never found thread cliquey - but each to their own!

free I think it depends where you are travelling to but I would buy once there if you are sure of being able to do that. I think it adds to the holiday excitement to be able to try new things!

Had to wash with freezing cold water this morning as boiler on the blink - Thank God it is not the middle of winter!
