Hoping link to previous thread works!

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Welcome to the thread Grin I'm nearly at the end of a Beauty Flash Balm too. I'm still in two minds as to whether to re-purchase, I've a couple of samples of other primers to use first though.

I don't know what BFB does or how it works but when I use it I get comments on how good I look. The comments are rarer now because I have a 12 week old DD and frankly I look like a bag of spanners atm!

Fake tan is another thing I am guilty of buying and not using. The idea appeals to my pasty white legs me but I know what you mean about the smell. Stale biscuits 😝 I want to smell nice, not like a 4 week old pack of McVities!!

Ememem84 · 16/05/2016 06:38

I hated the smell of beauty flag balm. Very strange smelling. Haven't repurchased.

Finished the tresseme shampoo! Yay! Now moving on to John frieda brilliant brunette colour enhancing one.

Also almost finished a body lotion

WellTidy · 16/05/2016 09:21

Morning all

Fake tan - the St Tropez shower one doesn't smell at all. It takes a few applications to build up some colour, but it works very well on my very pale skin. I have three tubes left over from last summer and I'm hoping that it hasn't gone off. It says to wait a few days between applications, but when I start off using it, I use it every day, and only when I have some colour do I then start applying every few days.

Beauty flash balm - I agree, its one of those things that you might not see the effects of yourself. I found it took too long to dry on my skin, and I am always in a rush, so it didn't work for me. I really like Estee Lauder illuminating primer, and I like Dior glow something mixed in with foundation or BB cream to give more of a glow.

Storage - I have a bag per type of item. So separate bags for each of eye make up, blushers and bronzers, foundations and tinted moisturizer and BB cream, primers, lipsticks and lip liners and glosses etc. Bigger things like shampoos, conditioners, sun creams, body moisturisers etc have their own separate storage too. I buy those sturdy woven type cubes (no lids) and they live in an enormous under sink cupboard in the bathroom.

Another empty - my first used up lipstick for what must be more than a decade. Estee Lauder barely nude. I will definitely repurchase (but not yet) as it is an everyday colour and I use it loads.

FiveShelties · 16/05/2016 10:37

Another hotel coditioner gone, only one left now. Also a Natio Day Cream SPF15 sample used up - I quite like this, disappears quickly - the sample was quite a generous one and I will repurchase, one day in the distant future. I have a Natio hand cream which is almost empty - many more hand creams to take its place.

I am amazed at how much the stash has gone down, still lots and lots left but because I am not purchasing stuff I have made a real dent in it. I don't think I will ever use up the body lotions/butters - silly having all this.

FreeButtonBee · 16/05/2016 11:15

Aveda body lotion gone. Meh. CBA to even check the name.

dogdaydisaster · 16/05/2016 11:23

I finished a Maybelline falsies mascara this weekend. Was fine, but nothing special. I bought a sampler pack of mascara from sephora in the US over Easter, where you get about six mini mascaras and then choose the one you like and get that free. I chose the Better Than Sex by Too Faced, and am now using up the mini version, which I do really like, although the wand is a bit tricky.

I also chucked a wet and wild setting spray, as it smelt horrible, and gave dd a few bits - a smashbox eyeshadow palette, as the colours were not great and a kiko bronzer, so I'm countilg those as used up too Grin

StewardsEnquiry · 16/05/2016 12:13

I finished my L'Occitane Almond shower oil this morning. I know loads of people rave about it but for me it was just okay. It smelt okay, and wasn't drying, but for £18 a bottle it needed to be more than just okay. I used it up really quickly too!

IPokeBadgers · 17/05/2016 09:22

I have just finished, for the first time ever, a lip pencil! To be fair, I have had a long-term love/hate relationship with lipstick but am embracing it as I get older....and I think nearly all of my lippies have better staying power when I use a lip pencil as a base.

The one I have just finished is a No 7Precision Lips Pencil in Nude...and I have only just discovered that it has a concealed sharpener in the end of it....doh! Grin

I finished another half opened body lotion - it was a garner one - nothing special can't remember why I bought it. Also finished a mini Nivea crime - love the smell of that

littlepooch · 17/05/2016 15:49

I felt a bit meh about the occitane almond shower oil too. Still wonder if maybe I used it wrong given how much people rave about it.

dogdaydisaster · 17/05/2016 17:31

I'm working through the L'occitane almond oil. I like it but do t love it. I think I'm missing the bubbles/lather of a regular shower gel. It's huge, and will be ages before I'm done with it. It is great for shaving legs though.

Moogletea · 17/05/2016 18:10

Just finished superdrug brightening hot cloth cleanser. Have another spare but am going to use my limited edition Liz Earle one first

Oh and a Jo Malone peony and blush sample lovely but slightly too flowery for me. Won't buy. Have lime and basil still to use but finding that I'm going off the smell

Woodhill · 17/05/2016 19:41

Used Clarins perfume up. Have another one to use. Really liked it.

StewardsEnquiry · 17/05/2016 21:07

Littlepooch how can you be using it wrong?! Other than drinking it...??!!

FreeButtonBee · 17/05/2016 21:45

😄😄😄😄 agree. How can you use shower gel wrong?!?

Tantalisingly close to finishing a few items. Quite like the malin & goetz body lotion. Quite a strong scent though so probably not one I could use daily. Maybe a holiday treat. Still 3000000 body lotions to go. Have picked out another couple of sample/travel sizes to tackle next.

Should finish a dove spray deodorant from about 6 years ago tomorrow. Smells of lemon which is which for anti-perspiring and I hate spray on deo. I shall stick faithfully to my dove original cream stick from now on. Simple but effective.

applesandpears33 · 18/05/2016 09:17

I finally finished off a body shop lip balm. I quite liked it but have loads of others to use up before I can justify buying another one.

It is slow going now that I have finished off sample products and am onto full sized ones. I must have enough soap, shower gel and body lotion to keep me going for several years.

I've also got a half used tube of BFB in the cupboard and must dig it out and finish it off.

Storage wise I have divided things up into categories. I have an old clinique tin for lipsticks. It is the right depth for me to store them all on end so I can read the labels. All eye products are in a separate box etc.

CheshireChat · 18/05/2016 13:04

I've got quite a lot finished today!

Because DS got his paws on my shower gel and makeup remover wipes and took them in the bath! I only use wipes to clean my hands after blending foundation etc and I have some shower gel left so not a massive loss.

I legitimately finished the unicorn wee shampoo so that's a bonus.

This counts doesn't it?! Confused

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/05/2016 15:01

L'Occitane Almond Oil (NOT the gel, that isn't anywhere near as nice) is lovely, it leaves the bathroom and my skin smelling amazing.
I'm a non lotion user, but I don't need to with this, and unlike some scrubs, it doesn't leave my skin coated ( I have a Significant Birthday coming up, this will be on my list).
Need to use with a showerpuff though.

2 conditioners gone , waiting for DH to finish the Bodyshop Ginger.

Kwick709 · 18/05/2016 16:38

LOL Unicorn wee :)

What is a shower puff?

Kwick709 · 18/05/2016 16:38

moo what was the superdrug hot cloth cleanser like? Any good?

FrustratedFrugal · 18/05/2016 18:43

I have some Wella shampoo that simulates unicorn spunk Wink

Came by to suggest by Kimberly Clark (via Bad Outfit, Great Lipstick). No-guilt Youtube watching!

Ememem84 · 18/05/2016 18:48

Decanted some perfume into an atomiser. So I'm down to half a bottle now. And the atomiser. But that lives in my bag. So I can Spritz away at work and block out the smell of old smokey Joe next to me

littlepooch · 18/05/2016 18:52

Lol. I don't know. Just everyone raves about it so I wondered if maybe it works better with a flannel or something! Sorry if I sounded silly Smile

I have managed to finish the dregs of a tresseme styling spray. I have a lot of nearly finished hair products so if I put my mind to it I should be able to use them up quite quickly!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/05/2016 19:03

I use the Body Shop bath Lily - got one in a freebie bag, hmmm give it a go...

Best I've ever used (after a while they unravel, don't be tempted to put them in the washing machine unless you want 30 yards of meshy ribbon Grin )
About £2ish.

Moogletea · 18/05/2016 19:03

Kwick I really like the superdrug hot cloth. It's a fab dupe for the Liz Earle and really cheap. Plus everytime I've bought it it seems to be on a BOGOF so my hoard never decreases Smile
