Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

AgathaMystery · 03/05/2016 00:18

Finished this weekend:

Clinique take the day off GWP sample
MAC eyeliner 'teddy'
Nivea handbag sized deodorant (x2)
Pantene shampoo
Avon firming moisturiser (excellent product)
Superdrug own brand primer
Benefit They're real sample mascara
ShockBlush

AgathaMystery · 03/05/2016 00:24

Posted too soon - had a satisfying 10 mins unpacking my travel makeup after this weekend away & then restocking the bag for going away in a couple weeks.

All products I love in tiny sizes. I feel ridiculously smug about it. What's wrong with me?! Hmm

Did come home with some Clinique chubby sticks (gifts) & have just bought some Nip+Tuck pads to burn my wrinkles off try to brighten my complexion.

CheshireChat · 03/05/2016 11:23

Finished a hand soap and a bottle of bath bubbles- the bubbles count as DS is too young to have a say Wink.

Kwick709 · 03/05/2016 12:07

More progress here:

  • chucking out 2 nail polishes: nailsinc uptown (cannot get lid off); yves rocher rose - not a nice consistency
  • nuxe 24hr soothing and rehydrating fresh mask - okay but not amazeballs
  • ren gycolactic radiance renewal mask - meh
  • first aid beauty face cleanser - so-so

Confused takes a lot to impress me!!!

BuffyChiro · 03/05/2016 14:34

Just discovered this thread and have been inspired to try and use up one of my eyeshadow palettes. So now I'm sitting in my 'comfy clothes' with a full face of make up. I've been trying to use stuff up for a while and this is good motivation to keep going. As I run out of things I only want to replace with cruelty-free, so if anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

So far I've used up:

2 body shop body lotions
2 body shop body butters (won't be repurchasing body shop things since they are owned by loreal)
A body shop seaweed mattifying day cream - didn't like, broke me out
Some lush face soap
A lush shampoo
Some body shop tea tree face washes
Cath kidston hand cream that was part of a gift set - really liked this but not sure about cruelty free status.

My thing at the minute is a massive bag full of mini toiletries from hotels which I save to take on holiday or for swimming - of course I do neither!

Kwick709 · 03/05/2016 19:15

Welcome buffy!!!

Kwick709 · 03/05/2016 20:39

Another empty! REN hot cloth cleanser - okay but prefer the No7 cleansing oil or the Body Shop camomille cleansing oil.

Kwick709 · 03/05/2016 21:28

I AM ON FIRE!!!!!!! I have another empty!!!!! They are like buses/men!!! Yves Rocher 2 in 1 beautifying hand & nail cream - will not repurchase, leaves powdery residue... Already have new one started Blush - my trusty little sunflower cream.

Ememem84 · 04/05/2016 06:43

Empties from my trip

Moisturiser
Shower gel
Sunscreen
Dry shampoo
Toothpaste hope my flight home doesn't get delayed
Deodourant

Paperblank · 04/05/2016 08:14

I didn't know that Yves Rocher were still around - haven't seen any of the adverts around for years.

I had loads of it about 20 years ago.

WellTidy · 04/05/2016 09:01

Excellent work, ladies!

I also have an empty, at last. Its been ages. It is a soap and glory hand food hand cream. I won't replace, as I don't like the smell. The only soap and glory product I use consistently is their body scrub as I find it amazing on my upper arms.

I also have an empty room spray. I had been using an ancient can of Impuse Blush as I couldn't bring myself to chuck it. Will replace with Laura Ashley Beachcomber room spray.

Buffy has reminded me that I have three teeny mini cath kidston hand creams to use up before I can buy more. I found them very good too, but have no idea about their cruelty stance. When I finally can buy more, I will be buying crabtree and evelyn rose hand cream, as it is the best I've tried for a while. That and l'occitane rose hand cream.

I would also be interested to receive recommendations of cruelty free products if anyone has some.

FrustratedFrugal · 04/05/2016 12:41

Empties:

*Lipstick Chanel Coco Rouge #13 Gardenia
A great versatile MLBB midpink, have enjoyed wearing it and it is the third lipstick I've finished in a year! Now discontinued. I still have its sister shade Camelia and about half a dozen other neutral everyday pinks

*Missha sunscreen (small peach-colored bottle), spf 45
This was okay, no white cast and it protected me from burning and hyperpigmentation but I experienced some pilling when I used this with Missha Perfect Cover and Dr Jart Premium BB creams. Won't repurchase, I prefer Biore Watery Essence.

Kwick709 · 04/05/2016 19:38

High five!! All doing so well ✋

StewardsEnquiry · 05/05/2016 08:15

Three empties this morning!! All a bit boring though.

Gillette Satin Care shaving foam with a touch of Olay - vanilla scented and does the job. Will repurchase but not yet as have several in the stash.

A crappy Sainsbury hairspray - have another in the cupboard to get through.

A toothpaste - bog standard Colgate job. Again have several in the cupboard.

Ememem84 · 05/05/2016 08:29

Another travel shower gel finished. Jo Malone blackberry and bay. Smells great!!! wish I had a full size one

Paperblank · 05/05/2016 09:33

Em I give you permission to purchase that shower gel but only when

  1. you have used up 6 travel sized empties
  2. you have used up 3 full sized empties

BuffyChiro · 05/05/2016 21:16

Finished a pot of coconut oil. Still have another to use. I bought into the coconut oil-hype before realising that I hate the smell of coconut.

Ememem84 · 06/05/2016 07:23

paper haha!! I can't afford the full size one!!! I'll drop not so subtle hints and see if it arrives for my birthday or Christmas. I've been really Good this year so far!

Paperblank · 06/05/2016 07:49

Em just text everyone and say "if you love me please buy me this shower gel. If I don't get it I'll know how you feel about me (sad face emoji)"

This is no time for subtle hints.

Kwick709 · 06/05/2016 18:22

My Yves Rocher splurge has arrived.... Blush

Kwick709 · 06/05/2016 21:53

I am so pleased I splurged - the new range of almond and orange blossom smells lovely and I got a full size serum as a free gift!!!

Kwick709 · 07/05/2016 10:10

Another empty!!! Naobay mousturising peeling - ok but not the best facial scrub I have used.
