Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

I find the best thing for my feet is Cidal soap. Only for the feet mind!

StewardsEnquiry · 27/04/2016 13:45

Another empty today. The Nuxe shower oil. I won't repurchase as although I love the fragrance I didn't like the plastic tube it came in. It was slippery to squeeze in the shower.

Very close to finishing a BB cream tester and a can of hairspray. Oh and a pot of body moisturiser. May be will finish all three tomorrow.

FiveShelties · 27/04/2016 14:21

Two more face cream samples used up - where do they all come from! Also another M & S Shower Gel finished - definitely no need to re-purchase.

CheshireChat · 27/04/2016 15:50

I now actually regret binning my jars, the chutneys and sauces sound lovely! But I have a small kitchen and a 1 year old so I might as well wait. Though to be fair, I do drink the coffee and lots of it.

I also thought it might be fun to decorate some of the jars but never got round to it.

FrustratedFrugal · 27/04/2016 17:20

Kwick I have a Bonne Maman jar and a baby food jar hoard. I also hoard used envelopes and other packing materials. I was able to discard a ton of magazines and lots of shoes. But I have strong hoarding tendencies and it is awful.

FrustratedFrugal · 27/04/2016 17:23

By the way, I've used up my cotton wool stash. When I started, I had at least three full bags and using them up took about ten months of daily use.

WellTidy · 27/04/2016 20:36

Oh gawd. I hoard Jiffy bags too. I have loads and loads. I don't use any of them.

CheshireChat · 28/04/2016 01:55

I tried to finish a wella shampoo which I hate (the one that looks like unicorn wee) and there's still loads left. I am grateful to whoever suggested using hair conditioner for shaving as the matching pair is getting used up. Slowly

LesIncompetents · 28/04/2016 07:23

I've finally got to the bottom of a bottle of Jean Patou perfume, good job too as it was beginning to smell a bit off.

Also polished off a Balance Me body scrub, love the smell of it but a bit pricey as scrubs go. Recently I've become interested in DIY beauty stuff so might try and make something that smells similar, although that interest could also develop into a hoard if I'm not careful...good way of using up pretty jars though

LesIncompetents · 28/04/2016 07:24

Strike through fail

StewardsEnquiry · 28/04/2016 09:41

I used up a body butter last night. I bought it as an emergency purchase while on holiday last year when I forgot to take any after sun with me. It was papaya scented and yukky - glad it has gone!

I am really surprised by how much stuff I find either meh or actively dislike at the moment. I can't wait until all that stuff is gone and I am left with only lovely stuff.

StewardsEnquiry · 28/04/2016 10:22

Oh and another empty while I was putting my makeup on. A little trial of Benefit BB cream 'Big Easy'. Not bad at all, nice light coverage and it is oil free so I think it would be great for people with oilier skin. I like my Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser though and I have a whole full size tube of that to get through.

Paperblank · 28/04/2016 10:24

Les

There are loads of body scrub recipes on Pintrest. I don't tend to use them but I'm alway tempted to have a go at making one.

If you do make some let us know how it goes and I might try!

FrustratedFrugal · 28/04/2016 16:53

Finished a 500ml bottle of Bioderma Sensibio micellar water. My fave, I repeat-purchase it.

Kwick709 · 28/04/2016 22:21

Very relieved I am not alone in suffering from clutteritis!

cheshirecat nearly pi??ed myself no pun intended re:unicorn wee!!!!

frustratedfrugal I love bioderma too... Am trying other waters but most likely will revert once I have satisfied my grass is greener curiosity.

Ememem84 · 29/04/2016 07:31

Almost finished a hand cream at work. Yay! The one on my desk is nice (an organic brand grapefruit and honey) but I'm bored of it now.

Kwick709 · 29/04/2016 10:52

I think I am fighting a losing battle... I just feel a deep seated urge to have a spending splurge on beauty products... And like any addict have come up with a way to present a normal front: I could buy (another) plastic storage box for under the bed and hide my stash there?
Anyway I have quite a few empties:
TIGI shampoo and conditioner green - did not like much
Boots bruise relief arnica cream - never know if this works or not, will not replace for now
Yves Rocher cotton flower shower gel and deoderant - nice smell and cheap, already have a stock pile of other flavours but tempted to restock
Dr Darren Mckeown aha active radiant cleanser - love this stuff but it has been discontinued and I only have 2 bottles left!!!!! 😥
No7 beautiful skin cleansing oil - I loved this stuff, will repurchase but after I have used up/tried Body Shop camomille silky cleansing oil

Ememem84 · 30/04/2016 09:42

Finished a body scrub. From joules. The rest of the set was really nice. Fresh smelling. Think the scrub may have been off. --is that possible? It's 2 years old.

I now smell of damp washing.

Paperblank · 30/04/2016 10:18

Yay I have an empty!!

Clinique Take the Day Off. I love it, have used it for years and despite trying nearly every eye make up remover on the planet this one is my favourite. I have another one in the stash, and will repurchase when there is a good Clinique Gift on somewhere.

Meanwhile the bloody Elemis cleanser is still going strong Hmm

FrustratedFrugal · 30/04/2016 10:27

DD1 and I ground soap scraps in a spice grinder and then mixed them with a few spoonfuls of boiling water in a jam jar and shook it vigorously to make liquid soap. We left the mixture to cool and ran some errands, and when we returned, it had solidified Grin She loved the process anyway.

We are spending a night or two at my parents, and the number of cosmetics I neee to get my daily no-makeup look is shocking. Anyway, I am near finishing lots of products, can't wait!

Ememem84 · 30/04/2016 10:47

Have just packed for my trip to Israel tomorrow. So many travel size toiletries. Just to use up!

Woodhill · 30/04/2016 15:16

i have taken my scissors upstairs and cut off the ends of tubes and am finishing up a body lotion. shower gel etc.

I have also used up my M&S nightcream. I will not be repurchasing anything until I start to run out of stuff.

I will still buy my monthly beauty boxes as this gives me a little hit at £6.95.

CheshireChat · 30/04/2016 19:34

I went to a Poundland today for drinks and I left with 1 Max Factor eyeliner and 3 smokey eyeshadow stick things Blush. The eyeliner isn't the issue as I don't have a similar color, but the I have quite a few cream eye shadows and I haven't found one that I like yet so I'm annoyed I got carried away as it isn't about the money, but it feels wasteful.

dogdaydisaster · 01/05/2016 23:27

Another empty here - the Bosnia gel oil cleanser. Was just OK, nothing amazing. Seemed to last forever. I won't be repurchasing as I have loads of cleansers that I love on the go.

applesandpears33 · 02/05/2016 18:42

Finished off a protect and perfect eye cream. It is taking a long time now to use up products.
