Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

I've used up a significant something this morning- Sunday Riley Good Genes. Smells like shit but and ridiculously expensive (bought when cult beauty we're offering £40 off £100spend) but it did make my face look brighter and if another offer came about I may get it again.

WellTidy · 21/03/2016 20:31

Thanks for the three minute miracle info dogday. I have two intensive conditioners hair masque type thing on the go, with loads left in each, so I mustn't buy more of the same type of thing. It does sound very good though.

I have an empty simple eye make up remover full size, and an empty miniature Estée Lauder toner, the one in the pink bottle for dry skin. I have the same toner to replace it, another miniature, as I use so little of it.

I have no make up remover left at all, so I'm going to buy garnier micellar water tomorrow. I had it a couple of years ago when it first came out and really rated it. I'm glad to be through all of my other make up removers so that I can buy it again.

IPokeBadgers · 22/03/2016 13:24

Have finished a 100ml Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. Was one of a trio of their "limited edition" C&Ps: grapefruit and patchouli. Liked it but now have others to be getting on with: as a limited edition doubt I would be able to repurchase that particular fragrance anyway.

Have finished a lip gloss, lipstick and full size moisturiser.

FrustratedFrugal · 22/03/2016 18:33

Have used up my Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood pads. They were okay, but I think they made my face peel a tiny bit, and I didn't love the smell. Looking for something else with salicylic acid, going to try the Stridex Sensitive hoarded from the US next.

Now wearing an Innisfree rice sheet mask. It's lovely and cooling.

WellTidy · 22/03/2016 18:37

Loving the successes.

I have used up an Estée Lauder lipgloss. It was one that is too pale for me to wear in its own now that I am the wrong side of 40 and need more help, so I had been using it over lipstick to make more of a glossy finish. I won't be re-purchasing as I have several other estee Lauder lip glosses that will do the same job.

FrustratedFrugal · 24/03/2016 07:54

I've hit the pan on my peach-toned Chanel eye quad. The nude lid wash shade, it took about 5 months of daily or near-daily use (a few months last spring and I've been using this palette as my daily go-to since January). Super happy about this!

FrustratedFrugal · 24/03/2016 07:57

Oh and my initial feel is that Stridex Sensitive pads feel far nicer than the N+F Dragon's Blood ones. Gentler and more hydrating. Packing my bag for an Easter trip to MIL's right now.

WellTidy · 24/03/2016 23:21

Bought the Garnier micellar wAter today and I love it. It feels so good to have used up so many make up removers that I can make a proper choice to buy what I like.

Finished yet another 50ml miniature Molton born body wash. I am ploughing through these and using very liberally! Got about five left.

Kwick709 · 28/03/2016 12:17

I may have had another splurge at Boots

Just finished Time Miracle Cellular Repair Serum from Madara - got in a Glossybox - will not purchase leaves skin feeling tight.

FrustratedFrugal · 29/03/2016 18:43

I've used up a travel size shampoo and a mini face wash and a mini bottle of micellar water that leaked in my cosmetics bag.

I've wanted to try a khaki eye shadow and I found one in my stash when I was looking for a replacement for the nude shadow I used up. Excited Wink

Paperblank · 30/03/2016 10:32

I'm so rubbish at using stuff up!! I've been slathering on handcream like there's no tomorrow. My hands have really dried out (I blame the copious nappy changes) but I'm still no nearer using up a handcream!

IPokeBadgers · 01/04/2016 20:41

On the postive side, I have finished a lovely bar of handsoap and replaced from the stash. I have binned a neals yard Moisturiser that no longer smelled right, it was a magazine freebie so I don't feel guilty chucking it.

However, I need encouragement to chuck at least three mascaras I have had on the go since my wedding and honeymoon three and a half years ago....not as if there is a shortage of new, unopened mascaras in the board!!!!

oh, and unfortunately I accidentally spent £70 in Boots two days ago Blush.

I mean hoard, not board! Blush

£70 in Boots!! Yikes makes me feel better about the £26 I spent in Savers last week! I'm a lurker, but you guys are very inspiring and I'm trying not to buy anything new at the moment but try and get through the bottles of stuff I've got already!!

Paperblank · 02/04/2016 07:48

Badgers

Put those mascaras in the bin this instant!! Don't make me come round and bin them for you!!

£70.00 in Boots? That is a good tumble off the wagon Grin what did you buy?

IPokeBadgers · 02/04/2016 11:47

Yeah, feel a bit sick about the Boots spending - what can I say, was having a weird sort of week. Confused. needless to say, I didn't need very much of what I bought Angry. My only comfort is that this used to be a much more frequent occurrence!

Anyway, bought 2 foundations Boots no 7 : Stay Perfect which I love and am out of, as well as the new Light Matte one, which I tried and think could be a lovely day to day one. Couple of lipsticks, trying to go a bit brighter, realised so many of my lippies are very similar so wanted a bolder look. One is No 7 soft tulip, the other is a MaxFactor in Raisin. Both lovely on but much brighter than I'm used to! A MaxFactor mascara, false lash something. A Max Factor compactk foundation for my drawer in work. The rest was basic toiletries, damn that 3 for 2!!!! Lol

Paperblank thank you, have binned two of the mascaras, the third one is now hiding from me even though i have been tripping over it for ages. Will bin it when I put my hand to it!

Badgers don't feel too bad, things like that can happen. You've been doing well for a long time.

I found MakeupRehab on Reddit, if you need extra motivation to cut down on spending, see this. That said, occasional splurges can happen, the important thing is that it is not a weekly ritual, and if the products are daily staples, you'll be able to use them up.

FiveShelties · 02/04/2016 14:39

I have been away for a few weeks and have used up:
2 Shower Gels - M & S ones, no need to replace, many more in stash
No 7 Protect and Perfect Face moisturiser - one night and one day cream - love this and have replacements in the cupboard
M & S Body Butter - no need to replace
No 7 Eye Shadow Pallette, again no ned to replace
Klorane Shampoo, loved the smell and may replace as getting well down on shampoo - cannot wait to buy something I actually need!

I did not purchase anything and even resisted Duty Free - pround of myself! So pleased to see the thread still going.

Kwick709 · 06/04/2016 06:57

Praise the Lord! I have finally finished Balance Me cleanse and smooth face balm - one of the yuckiest cleansers I have ever used. Rank smell, horrid consistency and a devil to get off!

Paperblank · 06/04/2016 08:09

I'm jealous - I have an Elemis Pro-radiance Cream Cleanser which is never ending. I must have been using it for years. I have another one in the stash as well Confused

I have to go into Boots today to get some stuff for DD...I.MUST.RESIST

we all know that I won't, right?

Kwick709 · 06/04/2016 08:47

LOL paperblank

WellTidy · 06/04/2016 10:18

Maybe just try to rein it in a bit then Paperblank? Grin

I got rid of two large Jergens body moisturisers yesterday by giving them to my mum. I feel so much better. It would have taken me months to get through them and I already have other body moisturisers that I prefer. I can't imagine how it will feel to get to the stage of having only one on the go. I haven't been in that position for years and years.

The Elemis products seem to gain new life I think. I have an Emelis pro radiance product which is their equivalent of Clarins flash beauty balm. I have two trial sizes (free with magazines) and a proper 50 ml. I've had them for maybe three years but I use them weekly.

IPokeBadgers · 07/04/2016 15:48

Paperblank - just try and keep it (well) under my ridiculous expenditure last week and you will be fine!

OMG I love this thread. I have a disgraceful bit of a hoard & haven't bought a moisturiser in 3 years Blush - I am ploughing through them all with dogged determination.

Finished a primer, a mascara, a BB cream & an eyeliner this week so far. Got 3 tubes of 8hr cream on their last legs too.
