Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

So I guess this does not count as it is not empty but I am sick of this deoderant staining my black bras white (any tips on how to remove???) - Eucerin 48h anti-perspirant - will not be buying again!

FrustratedFrugal · 05/03/2016 18:11

Oh I hate deodorants that stain!
I've used up a bottle of supermarket shampoo. All I've got left now is two bottles of Wella shampoo and one travel size from This Works. Both are my longtime favorites!

Kwick709 · 05/03/2016 19:48

Which Wella shampoo Frustrated?

FrustratedFrugal · 05/03/2016 21:07

This one - Wella Pro Series Repair - sadly they have discontinued it. It might not suit everyone but it is fantastic for my fine, highlighted hair.

Well, I didn't resist the boots bourjois three groups two offer, so I now have three new foundations. To add to my others and BB cream and tinted moisturiser. Oh dear. I will use them though, as the quality is excellent and surely, better to hoard £9.99 bourjois foundations than £60 chantecaille?

On the plus side, I told DH in advance of Mother's Day to steer the little DSs away from beauty products for me, and he has listened! So I don't have even more products to hoard.

IPokeBadgers · 09/03/2016 21:18

Finished a m&s handcream..... easterñ escape. Not a bad dupe for loccitane cherry blossom fragrance, and an ok handcream. Not likely to repurchase but thiñk has been discontinued anyway.

Just finished Ren gel active 7 eye cream - would not repurchase.

Ememem84 · 10/03/2016 18:58

Replaced mascara and had a spare eyeliner in the drawer.

It's a channel one. But I don't think I like it as much as my cheap bourjoius one. Will use it up though.

Have used up a hand soap. Nothing else since my last post. Must start using up!

Paperblank · 13/03/2016 21:20

I have an empty!! I have finished an eyebrow pencil Grin

It was a YBF one off QVC. I'm not sure if I would repurchase, it was okay but the shade just wasn't quite right for me.

Haven't done very well on using up other products - I really must try harder!

Kwick709 · 14/03/2016 07:17

Well done paperblank!

I have finished at No7 Protect & Perfect advanced eye cream - will not be repurchasing as it contains a nasty ingredient cyclosomethingorother.

dogdaydisaster · 14/03/2016 12:30

I've finished a 3 minute miracle conditioner and am now on my backup so will need to get a new one as I hate being without it. I also finally finished up my second bottle of Bayliss and Harding Mandarin and grapefruit shower gel that had absoutely no smell. I'm now working through a couple of minitures from L'oocitane.

off on holiday next week to Florida and will try to be very controlled in Sephora/Target/CVS.

FrustratedFrugal · 14/03/2016 14:17

What a morning! I overslep and woke up panicky and grumpy. I dropped two items in the toilet today - a foul-tasting spf lip balm and a lipliner pencil.

Paperblank · 14/03/2016 17:37

DogDay I am also a big fan of 3 minute miracle. It great stuff and works wonders on my hair.

I also agree with you on Bayliss and Harding stuff. I've been given it as a present a few times - it just doesn't seem to have any lasting fragrance.

Have a lovely holiday, I wouldn't be able to control myself in those shops...I'd come back with suitcases full of stuff!

WellTidy · 15/03/2016 08:55

What is the 3 minute miracle conditioner please? I feel that I might 'need' it!

I have an empty. It has taken me an age to use it, as it is a massive (200ml I think) l'occcitane original shea butter hand cream. I won't re-purchase, as I am sick of seeing it next to my bed, and also because I prefer the rose fragranced ones by l'occitane and crabtree and evelyn. And also because I like changing things like hand cream up a lot, so I should stick to 30 and 50 ml for hand cream, and stay away from anything bigger than that.

I am using an Ahava mineral hand cream at work (100 ml) and although I really like it, I am getting bored of it, and I still have a good 3/4 of it to go.

RainbowBlue · 15/03/2016 13:54

Ooh I've just seen this thread - I'm guilty of hoarding - and linking with the thread on bloggers - have bought loads of things that were probably unnecessary.

Just finished:

  • La Roche Posay effaclar moisturiser - won't repurchase as left an oily film on my skin
  • Steam cream tin - only meh - i wanted to love it because of the 'natural' ingredients hype - won't buy again
  • Clinique chubby stick in chunky cherry - won't repurchase as the colour didn't really suit me Confused
IPokeBadgers · 17/03/2016 16:14

Finished a Molton brown shower gel....pink pepperpod. Love it, will repurchase in future. But not anytime soon as have three more Molton brown showergels that i acquired at xmas.....

OP posts:
WellTidy · 17/03/2016 16:44

I like the pink pepper pod bath and shower wash too. I seem to have acquired two miniatures of it, but I can't remember where from. I have so many Morton brown shower gels that I can never bring myself to buy them for myself, but I do buy them as gifts for others.

I also have two empties. Both miniatures, from homemade crackers that DH and I had at Christmas - body shop olive (DH's) and pink grapefruit (mine) shower gels.

FrustratedFrugal · 17/03/2016 17:31

I used up a sample of L'Oreal Nutri Gold Extraordinary oil-cream. There was nothing extraordinary about it, it was a bog-standard moisturizer, and I used it on my legs.

I might have finished my Dr Jart Premium BB cream. Have been getting mostly air from the pump for the past week, will try to cut the tube open to get the rest out. A great product, this is my second tube. I will use up my other BB creams first but looking forward to buying another tube. The finish and the shade are just right.

WellTidy · 17/03/2016 17:38

Frugal, how does the dr hart compare to Laura merrier tinted moisturiser please? The LM is my go to summer coverage, but I'm reading good things about dr kart. Does the colour work?

FrustratedFrugal · 17/03/2016 18:04

I haven't tried LM, but I think Dr Jart Premium is heavier coverage, more like regular foundation. There is another Dr Jart BB cream, the Water-Fuse in a green tube - it's really sheer and a great summer option.

CoolToned · 17/03/2016 18:10

Joining! I'm so guilty of buying and not using. Went on a makeup hiatus for several years, and came back with a vengeance.

FrustratedFrugal · 19/03/2016 08:35

Welcome Cool-toned!

I've used up a big bottle of Listerine. Should not even list this as it is a staple now, but it is an example of products that I started actually liking and repurchasing after making an inventory of what we have in the back of the cupboard and using using them.

dogdaydisaster · 19/03/2016 13:22

WellTidy- re 3 minute miracle - it's just an Aussie conditioner, but a really lovely rich one. They are always with the Aussie products; they are the squat upside down bottles and come in a few types. My dyed (grey) hair gets really coarse and rough feeling without it. I also really like the packaging. Always on offer at 2 for 7.

Empties here- another L'occitane mini, the Shea shower cream. Was OK but unless something smells incredible I'm happy with any shower gel. Also a Thierry Mugler shower gel that came in an Angel perfume gift set from mil this Christmas. Bit strong but the scent didn't seem to last so happy to use up.

dogdaydisaster · 19/03/2016 16:32

Packing for Florida and I'm claiming another couple of empties, as I've decanted into those teeny travel pots and there's a day or twos worth of each. Both Gatineau -
Melatogenine eye concentrate - feels fine, but tbh I can't see any difference in my fine lines since I started using eye cream so maybe this isn't for me?

Collagen expert ultimate smoothing serum - this felt nice, and was a nice morning step as it's quite a 'wet' serum which I like. Not sure it's worked wonders for my face though, looks much the same as always to me.

IPokeBadgers · 21/03/2016 11:18

Finished a Garnier BB Cream + Blur. Really like this, already have a spare in with the other less well-loved BB creams. This goes on easily, has nice [light] coverage and is easier on those mornings when I dont quite have time for foundation....
