Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Jaimx welcome and you are starting with a lovely pile of empties!

I have so many samples... Should really start using them up systematically but don't want to mess up my current routine.

Jaimx86 · 17/02/2016 23:16

That's the problem isn't it FrustratedFrugal. I have a 'routine' of products I know that work and don't want to risk a break out before work/events but love the 'idea' of trying products.

FrustratedFrugal · 18/02/2016 16:34

Exactly how I feel. I often end up downgrading samples, face washes -> body washes, shampoos-> bubble baths, face creams on my body, eye creams on my legs.

Used up a full-size Avene Thermal Water Spray today. Yay!

Kwick709 · 18/02/2016 21:25

welltidy of course minatures count!!!! Grin

Kwick709 · 18/02/2016 22:08

Oh dear just mistakenly put hand cream on face... I am soooooooo tired! Blush

Anyway in the process have used up Nougat nuturing hand cream in peony - very nice. Not sure if I would buy as not sure of price as was in a glossybox... If I remember correctly. Off to bed for me!

Ememem84 · 20/02/2016 08:28

Finished a clarins peach toner. It's a staple for me so will rebuy at some point but have a back up.

Kwick709 · 20/02/2016 09:31

I have been good today!

  • Sea of Tranquility Imperial Leather bath cream - only £1 from Poundshop so may buy again - the smell was okay
  • Germainw de Capuccini continuous defense face cream - okay was a freebie, unlikely to buy again
  • Revlon Flex Shampoo (green) I love the smell of this shampoo but it is not the best on my hair... will probably buy again for nostalgic smell
FrustratedFrugal · 20/02/2016 14:30

Ooh Flex sounds lovely

I finished a Palmolive shower gel - nobody liked it so we used it for bubble baths - it promised a Turkish Bath Sensation Wink

Kwick709 · 20/02/2016 22:04

I normally love a turkish bath but cannot imagine how that translates to a shower gel Confused

dogdaydisaster · 22/02/2016 10:26

I put three empties in the recycling bin this morning:
L'Occitane honey shower gel. Nice enough but nothing special. It didn't smell too strongly of honey, which was good as it's not a smell I'm particularly keen on. Wouldn't repurchase.

A little rose body butter which was in a gift set from way ago. I have been mixing it with my clarins tanning drop thingy to start de-whitening in preparation for my holiday in March.

Nip and Fab Dragons Blood Pads - I like the convenience of the toning pads, but I am guilty of mix and matching so much I struggle to see the benefit of anything individually. But my skin looks OK, so maybe they work Grin. I have a tub of clearasil pads as a replacement but I would repurchase.

dogdaydisaster · 22/02/2016 10:28

Oh, and I also finished a chanel blusher. First blusher that I've actually used up. Was lovely, but well, it's a £33 chanel blush Shock. And the max factor ones are nice and only £8.

Kwick709 · 22/02/2016 22:01

well done dogday

I have a confession to make - I am addicted to buying shampoo and conditioner - I currently have 4 different sets on the go (excluding travel versions)... all in my attempt to tame my hair. Today's purchases include Elvive - brand new range oily roots, dry ends including a pre-wash clay mask. I used all 3 products this evening and my hair feels wonderful... we will see what state it is in tomorrow...

Kwick709 · 27/02/2016 11:12

The sad day has come where the lovely Crabtree & Evelyn Lavender hand cream that my lovely little nephew gave me for Christmas has finished :(

WellTidy · 27/02/2016 11:51

I also have an empty. Another Molton brown 30ml body lotion. I have loads of them and it takes a surprisingly long time to use up 30ml of body lotion! I also finished a l'occitane 30ml rose shea butter hand cream this week which I will re-purchase after I use up some of my others.

I am trying to resist the debenhams gift with purchase plus 10% off Estée Lauder offer this week, as I really really need moisturiser. And could do with a mascara. So I will probably succumb.

I'm also trying to resist the 3 for 2 Bourjois offer in Boots, as I like their healthy mix foundation, and have read good things about their city radiance foundation. But I do have three foundations on the go.

applesandpears33 · 27/02/2016 12:53

No empties for me and I could do with some! I need some space in my drawers. I haven't bought anything new though so I have to start making some progress at some point.

FrustratedFrugal · 27/02/2016 13:08

Dogday I am v v impressed with the Chanel blusher - this gives me hope! How long did it take?

I've finished a LRP Effaclar foaming face wash. Awful stuff, used it as a body wash, no joy in it, I think it gave me a few breakouts. Never again.

Kwick we should swap products - I am trying to finish an old pink Elvive conditioner I've had forever. I have very fine and glassy straight hair, I think it's meant for a different type of hair. I think I gives me greasy roots and dry ends.

Kwick709 · 27/02/2016 13:46

I am really happy with the oily roots, dry ends Elvive set - I got it for £10 in Boots - it includes a pre-wash mask which seems to suck up the oil Grin

I had a £10 off voucher for the Body Shop and I used it up yesterday and got 2 eye creams (one for travel, one for home) and a cleansing oil... I do not think I will ever be cured of my hoarding tendencies!!!

FrustratedFrugal · 27/02/2016 14:42

Enjoy them Kwick - it sounds like a good deal!

Progress report: I have two lipsticks that are almost used up, ditto two lipglosses and blushers. One eye palette and one brow duo are also about halfway gone. I think we've had this thread for about a year now, very happy with the results.

Ememem84 · 27/02/2016 14:49

I dropped an eyeliner down the toilet by accident. It's a shame as it was my favourite.

applesandpears33 · 27/02/2016 17:28

That's one way of finishing things up!

FrustratedFrugal · 28/02/2016 19:47

oh no Ememem - hope you can find a replacement!

I finished a tube of Eucerin 5% urea cream. This is my favorite winter moisturizer, excellent for flaky skin. Will continue to purchase this.

ZacharyQuack · 01/03/2016 03:13

Hi everyone, I posted on the last thread but haven't been on for a while.

My stash is growing faster than it's shrinking, but I have used some stuff up!

NARS Light Reflecting Powder - gorgeous stuff, used it everyday for over a year. Have bought another one.

Clinique Chubby Stick in Honey - I want to repurchase this, but I have very many similar shades

Revlon "chubby stick" in also in Honey - lovely natural pink-brown, similar to Clinique Honey

Clinique Chubby Stick mini in Tomato - nice natural reddish brown

(I'm quite proud of finishing makeup!)

Philosophy lip balm in Vanilla Birthday Cake - lovely smelling and shiny

Jo Malone Nectarine and Honey - I love this, and used to use it on summer holiday every year, so it has lots of good memories. Jo Malone is hideously expensive here and I have too many other perfumes, but I might repurchase this one day just for sentimentality.

And I've given away an eyeshadow palette - Smashbox Full Exposure. I didn't think it was great and I have too many similar palettes.

I'm pretty good at finishing hair and body products, so don't have too much of a backlog there, it's skincare, perfume and makeup that I hoard!

I've used a bunch of skincare minis, I used to buy a lot of Clinique products and have a backlog of GWPs that I was keeping for travel. I hardly ever travel anymore so have made an effort to use them up before they go off.

Kwick709 · 01/03/2016 08:16

I finished a L'Occitane hand cream - one of the small tubes... Have plenty more where that came from!

Was very naughty and started a new eye cream (Body Shope eye cube) before finishing No7 protect one... Blush... Now have 2 on the go!

IPokeBadgers · 01/03/2016 20:15

My first empty in ages! An una Brennan superfacialist rose hydrate night cream. Was OK. Don't think I will purchase. Liked the texture and how it Bsorbed into skin, but the rose fragrance a bit strong for me when going to bed....at least the rose cream cleanser that I used in the shower rinsed off....

Just finished a Burts Bees deep cleansing cream - felt a bit tingly on - will not repurchase.
