Hoping link to previous thread works!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2320549-Ashamed-of-my-beauty-product-hoard?pg=1

Continuation of the thread where I realised I was not alone in my hoarding of all things make-up/beauty/skincare/toiletries.

Lots of lovely mumsnetters who encourage each other to use and enjoy all those lovely products, and at the same time try to reduce our spending on unnecessaries!

Fell off the wagon again yesterday... as despite having two shampoos and conditioners on the go I went and bought another set which I may have started this morning Blush

Ememem84 · 08/02/2016 21:32

Bought miniature dry shampoo toothpaste and deodorant today. Necessary as flying to London tomorrow for a couple of days. dam hand luggage restrictions.

Have Ickes a load of sample size products though so am determined to use up things.

IPokeBadgers · 09/02/2016 09:37

Yay, an empty! Feel I haven't had many lately. Finally finished up an Elemis Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser [200ml]. Liked this product, did the job really well and felt lovely to use. Did need to use a flannel to take it off with as very thick: I used it evenings in the shower to take off make up. Would use it again but would only buy if, like this one, it was part of a kit/collection {this was part of a QVC TSV] - I am just too tight to spend £28 quid on a single product.

Actually cut the tube open about 10 days ago thinking I would get another couple of days out of it, only to find there was such a lot still left! was quite shocked as I had been shaking it and squeezing it and only getting little splodges out. Think the problem was because it was so thick, it just defied gravity and clung to the insides of the tube.

Anyway, not sure what cleanser I will pick next....there are quite a few in the stash. Possibly a Liz Earle C&P.

I have two empties too, a Molton brown miniature body lotion, and a simple eye make up remover.

I have loads of each, so I'll keep ploughing through.

I've actually added to my stash as I've been away with work, and gathered together five Molton brown miniatures from the bathroom before leaving the hotel. I should have just left them, as I have so many miniatures. It must be ingrained in me.

Ememem84 · 09/02/2016 15:43

Was hoping hotel would have cute travel products for me to use/take home. But alas. Premier inn only has huge dispensers bolted to the wall.

Paperblank · 09/02/2016 16:21

Hotel miniatures don't count... if you leave them in the hotel then they haven't fulfilled their destiny Wink I actually think it's against the law to leave them!

mowglik · 09/02/2016 22:51

Hello! Been following the thread but not posted recently. Still following the spirit of the thread and used up/given away loads of products

emma hardie cleansing balm - was part of a 3 set, will repurchase
DHC cleansing oil - will repurchase
Aldi Lacura Serum - liked, but won't repurchase
Aveeno dry skin relief lotion - will repurchase once I finish other creams
Cherry Bath & Body Works lotion - love the scent of this
Nivea in shower lotion - have another Ive opened
Ultrasun antipigmentation sunscreen - chucked as it smelled off
Some 5ml perfume samples

Given away a cleanser and serum to my sister, and 2 face creams to my mum. I have a few more almost empties too! Ive done well this last month, hope to shift a load more stuff next month Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 10/02/2016 20:34

I've used up another lipstick - Chanel Coco Rouge Shine in Aventure. Its a shimmery strawberry pink, very much like a lip balm. I found it very easy to wear but I experienced some clumping and it wore off in hours. Typically, I added this after lunch or after returning home from work. Also, very nude. Won't repurchase - totally overpriced.

I also finished a Biorepair toothpaste. This one has been in the use up pile for 6+ months. Not my favorite, won't repurchase.

Kwick709 · 11/02/2016 07:39

Not sure if this counts but am throwing out a Ren v-cense revatalising night creme which I cut open to finish up but has changed colour Confused so I do not think it is safe....

WellTidy · 11/02/2016 09:42

Excellent work, ladies.

I have finished a big toni and guy shampoo. I know it is an everyday item, but it seemed to be bottomless! I already have another, identical shampoo to replace it. I've also finished a miniature josh something from m and s conditioner that i won't re-purchase. It was fine, big not at all special for the luxury price. And I have loads of other conditioners anyway.

IPokeBadgers · 11/02/2016 16:18

Finished a small loccitane hand cream in Zesty Lime. Love it, have a big fullsize one but not going to open it for a while....have another couple of handcreams to use up first.

Finished st Ives apricot scrub.

Bought it ages ago as had flashbacks of using it as a teenager. Turns out it ruined my skin might explain the spots I had as a teen been using as a body/hand/foot scrub to use it up.

Won't be repurchasing.

FrustratedFrugal · 14/02/2016 09:37

I used a My Beauty Diary hyaluronic sheet mask last night. Felt pleasant, but sheet-masking feels a lot more rewarding after a hot summer day.

I've felt a bit restless with my cosmetics and have tried different shades of three BB creams from my stash. I ended up weighing them on a kitchen scale. The one I've been using all winter has the least amount left and seems the best shade match for me. I'm a bit thrown because it's mid-winter and I picked the darkest shade of the three - hoping I'm not orange in harsh daylight Confused

WellTidy I know exactly what you mean with bottomless... And Em, I am using up an awful LRP Effaclar face wash as a body cleanser. It also feels bottomless but I hope to finish it this month.

Ememem84 · 15/02/2016 21:19

Finished - boots cracked heel balm. Will re purchase as its doing wonders for my winter hoofs.

Simple face wipes (travel pack). Nice but have loads of boots ones.

Bought an atomiser for perfume the other day. Carrying it around now means I'm using it up much faster!!

Kwick709 · 16/02/2016 07:13

Just finished a small bottle of Beatitude joy body oil - will not be buying I did not find the scent at all joyful!!!

Jaimx86 · 16/02/2016 10:45

Just discovered this thread. It's amazing!
I thought it was just me that hoarded beauty products... I have a monthly beauty box delivered and was lucky enough to have a Selfridges beauty advent calendars, but it's mid-Feb and I've hardly used any of it :o I'm trying to just open up one product at a time to use.

daimbardiva · 16/02/2016 15:44

Finished - aldi lacura night cream. Won't be repurchasing,it had a really odd texture, sort of...cementy?!

Kwick709 · 16/02/2016 19:35

Jaimx86 welcome to the thread! I too get 2 monthly beauty boxes but I am about to cancel my subscription to at least one both!

Jaimx86 · 16/02/2016 19:45

Which do you get? I have Birchbox, which I've currently got 5 months left of but open to other options. Thinking of trying Love Lula x

Kwick709 · 16/02/2016 20:49

oooh never heard of Love Lula!!! But I MUST resist - I am trying to cut down on spending!!! I currently get GlossyBox - which I will stop as soon as I qualify for a free box (you review the products and get points which you can convert into free boxes). I also downsized to You Beauty Box - but I think I will stop that too... I have so much stuff to use up and now that I have discovered a real nasty (cyclosomething or other which is a silicone which is in LOADS of stuff and can impact fertility) ingredient I need to view product before using.

Jaimx86 · 16/02/2016 20:59

That's interesting. I really need to look at skincare ingredients more. Love Lula is all organic skin care brands/make up which I'm trying to get into as I'm very careful with the food I put in my body so I feel my skin care should be the same. Not sure if organic necessarily means less harmful though? I've recently tried Herbfarmacy exfoliating cleanser which left my skin glowing. Not sure about nasties in the ingredients though. What do you think? Ingredients: Aqua, kaolin (white clay), Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) kernel oil , +glycerin (glycerine), Helianthus annuus hybrid (high-oleic Sunflower) oil, Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Hydrogenated Jojoba oil (Jojoba beads), sodium stearoyl lactylate (plant-based emulsifier), cetearyl alcohol (plant-based emulsifier), +glyceryl stearate (Organic plant-based emulsifier), tocopherol (Vitamin E), Aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder (Aloe vera), Althaea officinalis (Marshmallow) root extract, Calendula officinalis flower extract(Calendula), Cananga odorata flower (Ylang ylang essential) oil, Lavandula angustifolia (Lavender essential) oil, Citrus grandis peel (Grapefruit essential) oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) leaf extract, lactic acid (from sugars), phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate (Mild preservative system). * = Organic + = Organic origin.

Kwick709 · 17/02/2016 06:57

jaimx I am no expert but that list looks okay. The one you need to look out for is cyclopentasiloxane - it is in loads if stuff including hair products, deoderants, serums, eye creams, body lotion...

I have just finished a Glamglow youthmud - very disappointing!

Jaimx86 · 17/02/2016 14:12

I've been inspired by the thread to have a bit of a purge. Had a very decadent shower and finished off:
Skin&Co Sicilian Body Gel Smells amazing - just like being on holiday. Didn't leave my skin soft enough to
repurchase.
Elemis Exotic Island Flower Body Balm Hmmm. More of a cream than a balm and I wasn't a fan of the scent or slightly greasy finish. No repurchase.
Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt Smells lovely and my skin felt well nourished after. Expensive for what it is but would love it as a gift.
Decleor Energising Smoothing Cream As with all Decleor products, the smell is divine! At first I thought it was a bit filmy but it soon soaked in and left my face looking really healthy. Won't repurchase purely because I prefer the Decleor Neroli day cream.

Didn't feel as bad about using them
up as I thought I would!

WellTidy · 17/02/2016 14:41

Kwick I also found the Glamglow youth mud disappointing. Id read amazing reviews of it, and asked for it for my birthday last year. I had high hopes. It did nothing whatsoever for my skin. I noticed no differences, good or bad. I used it up as quickly as I could - I think I had about 4 face masks out of the tub that cost in the region of £37 from M and S. I will not be re-purchasing.

I have an empty - a miniature (it counts, it counts!) Clinique body wash which softens your skin. Its a peachy colour, the consistency of a soufflé. It was lovely, but no lasting effects. Body wash and a moisturizer would be just the same for my skin.

I am lathering my body every night in molton brown miniature body lotions in an attempt to plough through them. Its amazing how long a 30 ml body lotion can last, and my body is not at all waif like!

FrustratedFrugal · 17/02/2016 16:35

An empty: a deluxe sample (80ml) of Balancing Conditioner from This Works. Hoarded hotel toiletries. Nothing special as a conditioner but I adore how it smells! I should use up a half-bottle of a conditioner that I don't really like. I will, eventually, but I finished this first.
