Anything but the C-word!

OP posts:

Great thread title Mrs S
Rose , well done on the successful reading. Your are indeed an example to us all!

herbaceous · 21/09/2015 12:28

Fine by me too, Mrs S. I am never starting a thread again!

I seem to have developed yet another dietary complaint. Now avoiding wheat, so had grilled halloumi with salad for lunch yesterday. 30 minutes later afflicted by cramps and lav action. I'm suspecting lactose intolerance of vast quantities of cheese. Apparently though you can get magic enzyme pills, so not the end of the world...

Lalsy · 21/09/2015 12:34

Metaphorical roses thrown onto Rose's stage here too Flowers. You must be so pleased (if drained).

BTM, that's goodish about your dm? I am glad there weren't any nasty surprises.

bigTillyMint · 21/09/2015 12:53

Yes I think it's goodish too!

Am currently chilling in a cafe as when I go back I will be moving yet more stuff for her. And surreptitiously chucking stuff out if I can!

motherinferior · 21/09/2015 14:27

AIBU to want to take the rest of the afternoon off to read pig-related tweets?

motherinferior · 21/09/2015 14:37

BTM, DP's uncle has vascular dementia which is now very well-controlled, I think - and he's in his late 80s.

Lalsy · 21/09/2015 14:39

MI Grin. They are very funny, but I sooo wish that image was not in my head!

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/09/2015 14:54

I love the photo of Miss Piggy outside No. 10.

Cremo · 22/09/2015 07:36

Oh thank goodness we are back. Was beginning to get a bit twitchy.

'Snort' @ MIGrin

Off to investigate TUPE rules. it seems the management are trying to do us over again.Sad

BeachysFlipFlops · 22/09/2015 08:03

I had an early night last night at my sisters instead of twiddling around on here, feel great.... But glad to be back.

I'm soaked already - no umbrella!

Blackduck · 22/09/2015 08:54

Congrats Rose!

Cremo :( so no VR then? Here it goes from bad to worse so much so I think it's best I just stop talking about it.

Rosebag · 22/09/2015 09:30

Thank you all for your lovely comments, dear Crepeys. I am still basking in a glow of sorts, I guess. Now starts the hard work to research funding or sponsorship for production costs. I have no idea how to go about it but I'm following a few leads. Oh and I have completely fallen in love with the actor who played Jonno....you remember who I mean mrsS molly addle ? I think I might have to stalk him.....

herbs your Orchestral Manoeuvres sound lovely. And how did DSs appointment go? Oh and BTW the one cheese that gives me immediate and violent runs (tmi) is halloumi. I'm alright with Feta though.

tilly DDad has vascular dementia and was controlled quite well for a couple of years on one of the memory drugs. I think it made quite a difference to him actually although DM thought it did nothing. Sadly I am now noticing signs in his speech of a particular type of aphasia which suggest where the affected parts of his brain are. I curse my training sometimes. I am not mentioning it to DM.

Btw MrsS has posted an extremely funny comment on the Site Stuff thread about yesterday's outage. Can't link on iPad but do look. It'll brighten up your day. It did mine! I am worrying about my Crepey thread addiction though....

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/09/2015 10:44

Look on it as therapy, Rose, not addiction. Grin

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2015 10:45

Thanks Rose and MI. Fingers crossed and all that!

Now on the train home, having snarfed a large and delicious Turkish pastry with a cappuccino on my way. Hoping all is OK at home...

herbaceous · 22/09/2015 10:48

Thank god. We're back. It was looking like I might have to apply for jobs, or something.

DS's appointment was fine, thank you all. He didn't have to have a moulding taken, after all. The doctor we see is SO LOVELY. His office walls are festooned with pictures from children saying 'thank you for my new eye'.

How odd about halloumi, Rose. I have the same reaction. But only sometimes, annoyingly. But am OK with other cheese, unless I eat tons and tons.

I think my dad's dementia is vascular, but he can't take the drugs as he's had a bleeding ulcer, and they're not compatible. Must go and visit. Must. [gloom]

Stropperella · 22/09/2015 11:10

Belated congratulations, Rose. I am in awe... Not just of the play-writing, but everything.

Here, the usual drama continues. Juggling translation with visiting schools, considering crap TA jobs, voluntary work starts on Wed. Have just been informed that I need to take dd to A&E (again) as she managed to do something fairly nasty as a result of an accident at a party at the w/e. The entire front of her leg from the knee down is a massive bruise, but the ankle is weirdly red and immensely swollen. I suspect a PAFO incident and am wearily fed-up. Eh, plus ça change etc etc

Crem :(

herbaceous · 22/09/2015 11:24

'PAFO'?

BeachysFlipFlops · 22/09/2015 11:32

Pissed and Fell Over Smile

herbaceous · 22/09/2015 11:40

I see! God, I'm old.

I suppose for us it would be 'PABAH' - pissed and broke a hip.

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2015 12:12

Grin at PAFO and PABAH!

I stopped by Boots to buy tubigrip for DS who retired his ankle at the match on Sunday. I showed my physio friend the photo he sent last night and she said he could have torn a ligamentSad He is going to see the club physio tonight I hope.

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2015 12:12

Sorry to hear you have to spend your time doing that Stropps.

Stropperella · 22/09/2015 12:19

Gah, just back from dropping dd at A&E. Stayed for the triage bit and am now worried that she's done something really bad or got some infection or something. Bearing in mind that the injury happened on Sat evening, it seems a bit weird that it's now suddenly going all red and swollen. :/ They dosed her up with pain meds immediately and she's now waiting to see the doc. As you can tell, we only live 5 mins from A&E. I am supposed to be a) translating and b) doing a job app. Now worried about what the update from dd is going to be.

Stropperella · 22/09/2015 12:20

BTM, oh no, I hope your ds hasn't torn a ligament. Nasty, nasty and vv painful.

BeachysFlipFlops · 22/09/2015 12:28

Weirdly enough the urban dictionary of Pafo sounds strangely like MN PAFO Parallel universe or what?

I really hope respective ds and dd have not done anything too nasty.....

herbaceous · 22/09/2015 13:19

Well well. I just nipped round to a friend's house to borrow a 20s dress for a party, like you do, and she asked what sort of work I did before my PGCE and I said writing, and editing and stuff, and she said did I do copywriting and I said yes I did! And she said did I want to do some for her, and a client of hers, and I said yes I do please!
