Every day trainers - what's stylish and comfy?

Need some trainers for holiday and walking with the baby and toddler around town, parks etc. Probably mostly worn with skinny jeans, so nothing too clumpy. I like converse but everybody seems to have a pair. What alternatives are there?

Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round up of Mumsnetters' favourite trainers.

Skechers!! Recently bought a pair for holiday . Slip on but they have elasticated laces...
Uber comfy, thanks to its memory foam and very light x

Summerdiamond · 25/08/2015 21:20

New balance are good. Any nice colourful ones really - cons are v flat with no support so much more comfy to wear runners, IMO

CoconutAmericano · 25/08/2015 21:20

I've lived in my sketchers this "summer". They have ruined me for all other shoes, they're far too comfortable!

BrendaandEddie · 25/08/2015 21:20

no no no to skechers

Princess9287 · 25/08/2015 21:21

Love my memory foam Skechers!

Dukketeater · 25/08/2015 21:26

I have lovely hight top vans DH bought me... They aren't comfy! No matter how lovely they might look... Step back!

My converse however are comfy. I got white leather as not many people have the leather ones (well not as many as who have canvas)

DH & DD love their Air Jordan's though!

Dukketeater · 25/08/2015 21:26

I mean DS, I don't have a DD

Bunbaker · 25/08/2015 21:29

"They have ruined me for all other shoes, they're far too comfortable!"

Same here. Other shoes are so uncomfortable in comparison. Ignore BrendaandEddie and try on the Sketchers.

Cockbollocks · 25/08/2015 21:30

Converse Ballet are nice, a bit different and look better with skinny jeans imo.

I love patterned vans!!

Not a fan of sketchers!

out of interest, can you skecher fans post a link to some that you think look nice? Thanks

CoconutAmericano · 25/08/2015 21:39

I wear these. Not my legs!

Every day trainers - what's stylish and comfy?
Bunbaker · 25/08/2015 21:53

Although I am a Sketchers fan I must admit that they wouldn't win any prizes for their looks. However, after wearing them, other shoes simply don't measure up in terms of comfort and support. I like the look of those Converse, but they feel so flat, unsupportive and uncomfortable compared to Sketchers.

I like the look of these though.

anotherdayanothersquabble · 25/08/2015 22:07

Scarpa mojitos cost an arm and a leg compared to sketchers, but I have worn mine for three years, almost daily when I am not in snow boots or flip flops. I am considering these as an addition to my very all shoe collection!!

CointreauVersial · 25/08/2015 22:08

I just bought some Sketchers today, funnily enough. Trainer style, black with white soles. Two recent city trips in the rain wearing my lovely Superga left me with sore and aching feet; none of my boots are comfortable enough either, and it's now too autumnal for sandals.

The op asked whats stylish and comfortable. Sketchers are not stylish - cant comment on wearability factor.

How about a pair of Nike Internationalist? Super Ga's? Good old Converse?

Gileswithachainsaw · 25/08/2015 22:40

Oh skechers are the best.

I love their chunky look too

bigTillyMint · 25/08/2015 22:41

Shock indeed CV Grin

I used to have some of those Sketchers shapeups Grin Not sure they did anything for me style or beauty-wise!

I like those Rudy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2015 23:10

No to Skechers. Horrible things imvho.

I like Converse, but since I bought some Nike Roshe I've barely had them off my feet. Have done miles in them and they are beautifully comfortable.

Rexy · 25/08/2015 23:12

I bought my comfy trainers in Sports Direct, they are Nike and as I'm a size 5 I got them in the kids section, £35 well spent too.

RaisingSteam · 25/08/2015 23:16

anotherday I was wondering about getting some Scarpa Mojito GTX actually, I think they look really cool.

Are they more like walking or running shoes - Go outdoors website says approach but sometimes that means trail running.

Snapespeare · 25/08/2015 23:19

Puma suedes. Super comfy.

Sleepyfergus · 25/08/2015 23:36

New Balance trainers. I got a purple and neon pair in TK Maxx for £30. Look good with skinnies (I think amyway) and comfy for waking about town/ gentle country walks!

I also bought some Pringle 3 x pair of footsie sock things in nude. that you can't see at all when wearing the trainers but helps to stop your feet getting sweaty or get blisters. TK Maxx sell lots of others types too.
