Every day trainers - what's stylish and comfy?

Need some trainers for holiday and walking with the baby and toddler around town, parks etc. Probably mostly worn with skinny jeans, so nothing too clumpy. I like converse but everybody seems to have a pair. What alternatives are there?

Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round up of Mumsnetters' favourite trainers.

I like those Rudy what's the name of the style?

I have heard that the skechers memory foam are super comfy but they're just a bit too bulky for my taste.

Also like the converse ballet but wonder if they'd be uncomfy on anything longer than a trip into town. Also a bit cold in Autumn/winter maybe.

I also used to have some New balance trainers years and years ago that I loved. Decisions, decisions.

I love Ecco CS14 for something a bit different and extremely comfortable. I have the grey ones.

This is my first ever venture into Style and Beauty and I have just bought two pairs of trainers!!!

anotherdayanothersquabble · 26/08/2015 06:53

RaisingSteam, I have the Mojito rather than the Mojito GTX (which have a chunkier sole). Scarpa classify them as 'Lifestyle' and not running / trail shoes.

Bin85 · 26/08/2015 07:00

Hotter Leanne are very comfortable.

Jucymyname · 26/08/2015 07:11

I like Walsh casual trainers, not cheap, but comfy. I got a pair years ago from tkmaxx, still wearing them even with skirts.

Bunbaker · 26/08/2015 08:02

I like those Stripytees. Are they waterproof?

Colaslushie · 26/08/2015 08:35

I just got these from next, they're gorgeous and go with most things :)

I always use one of those leather protection sprays to add waterproofing. I don't think I've worn them in a heavy downpour yet so can't say for sure.

scratchandsniff · 26/08/2015 08:41

What did you go for Zhx3?

I have some Skechers Go Run trainers, grey and white. Not lovely but very light and extremely comfortable. Have walked miles in them this week.

CoconutAmericano · 26/08/2015 10:22

Omg love those rudy

BabyGanoush · 26/08/2015 10:25

I am not very trendy, live in the country, have bought sketchers, massively regret them as they are SO ugly on my feet. they look just so wrong, esp. with skinnies.

So am looking to wear them out quickly so I can get new ones. I even feel self conscious wearing them around the house, LOL

OneofTHOSEWomen · 26/08/2015 10:32

I have converse in a marimekko print, superga in leopard print and a pair of Nike internationalist. Sketchers? Noooooooo. Never.

SquadGoals · 26/08/2015 11:04

Agree that Skechers just are not stylish.

I live in my Nike AF1 Ultra Force (on sale at Schuh atm). Also love the Adidas Superstars.

Hell of a lot cooler.

MajesticWhine · 26/08/2015 11:14

I quite like those scratchandsniff

yazzy85 · 26/08/2015 12:40

Just ordered a pair of navy New Balance 420s, they look comfortable but I've sized up as reviews say they come up small and my feet are wide as it is!

Cockbollocks · 26/08/2015 13:06

Oh my goodness, what did she buy the link failed and i need to know.

i have new balance some maroon ones, but am bored with those
Might get those reduced air force
I have to take advice from my teen boys first

ExConstance · 26/08/2015 13:38

I have a pair of these in blue, they were half price in the sale, but the silver/bronze ones are much nicer. There are some less fashionable ones but they have some rather lovely ones too and they are super comfortable.
