And what you look like in those clothes... ( you have to do a google pic - a like)

I would have to go with Karen Millen. It's like ladies day at Aintree all in one shop.

miaowmix · 19/05/2015 17:11

Having said that I did send a dress back from Great Plains when I saw Miranda wearing it on the telly...

Whatamayday · 19/05/2015 17:46

BHS. I have never bought anything there in my life and never will.

Tesco. Same. Poor quality and huge.

TKMaxx. Don't get it.

Gap. Didn't buy anything from there even when I was young. Non-descript.

For all their faults, I can find the odd thing in m&s and next.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2015 18:08

I used to say that about BHS. Then one day about 5 years ago I was saying to a friend that I wanted a mac type coat in a nice deep colour, she told me they had some in BHS. I came out with a perfectly fitting coat in a beautiful deep raspberry colour that gets compliments practically every time I wear it. No one believes it's from BHS though!

CadiM · 19/05/2015 18:19

Joe Browns. Occasionally I'm tempted by something in the catalogue but then I get distracted by all the mad PATCHES and BUTTONS!

BrendaBlackhead · 20/05/2015 10:55

Yes to June! I had some grey trousers on and dh said they were June from Gogglebox ones... I thought I was wearing lounge yoga pants Confused

BHS looks depressing, but in amongst all the "sassy" stuff are a few possibilities, so I would not say Never to having to shop in Debenhams for life.

I agree that having to wear Karen Millen every day would be a torture - so uncomfortable what with all that tight footballer's wife stuff. Not an elasticated waist in sight.

donemekmelarf · 20/05/2015 11:21

Strangely enough, the quality of some BHS clothes is a lot better than some of the other shops.
They could do with changing the name of the shop. It sounds so dated.

Poor June!
She always looks lovely.
It just goes to show how ageist we can be without even realizing it . I'm just as guilty.

Pispcina · 20/05/2015 11:36

Per Una would be up there I think

Asda/George, Tesco, etc. pretty bad

Dorothy perkins

sherbetlemonD · 20/05/2015 14:45

See I totally disagree with Tesco and ASDA- I have tunic tops from both stores for work; and for the price- the quality is fine. I've had some for a year or more and still have wear left in them. Sure if I had £50 to go and buy the same thing in Topshop I would- but I don't.

Same with Primark. Some is tat, some isn't. I have leggings from there that cost me £3 and have lasted longer than the £20+ ones i've had from American Apparel.

areyoutheregoditsmemargaret · 20/05/2015 14:53

arf, I just bought the Cos dress pictured way upthread. I swear it looked nice on me in the shop may have to go back now

Pispcina · 20/05/2015 16:00

Oh God, parasite infested nougat? Envy

I might not go to TK Maxx again either reading that.

queenbrunhilda · 20/05/2015 20:29

Hollister: for obnoxious attitude (including adding 'aesthetic' steps to an otherwise 100% flat and accessible entrance) plus so dimly lit you need to bring your own torch.

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 20/05/2015 20:38

areyouthere my friend wears loads of Cos and it looks amazing on her. I look like the last potato in the sack every time I try Grin If it looks good on you, go with it!

noddyholder · 20/05/2015 20:40

I like and suit cos and never go for anything sack like not my style

debricassartcleary · 20/05/2015 21:03

Yes TK Max food is the pits. I remember buying some lovely looking miniture gingerbread houses for my kids at Christmas. I put some in their stockings. I heard this gagging noise at about 5am. Those bloody houses actually tasted like a block of soap wtf!Shock. Where do they get that shit from? Sorry as you were.

UmiSays · 20/05/2015 21:14

I've got some gems from TK Maxx!! can't believe people hate it Shock.

I'd had my eye on some Fendi sunglasses since January, but at £189 I definitely couldn't justify buying them. They popped up for £79 in TK Maxx last month Grin.

Got loads of lovely designer scarves, some J Brand jeans, Stella McCartney workout gear, cashmere sweaters I wouldn't normally be able to stretch to...

I find it a very exciting place Grin

noddyholder · 20/05/2015 21:18

Food in TK Maxx????? I got some Chloe glasses last summer for £20 love them!

Follyfoot · 20/05/2015 21:23

Joules, Jack Wills and Toast.

HooplaWoman · 20/05/2015 21:59

Primark or Asda. I obviously must visit weird alien examples of these shops because so many people enthuse about them. But all I ever see is acres of nasty cheap tat that would never be allowed across the threshold of my home.

Alternatively I have picked up numerous bargins in TK Maxx. Several Nicole Fahri tops. A Barbour jacket. A couple of DKNY sweaters and quite a few pairs of Calvin Klein shoes. Love it.

almondfinger · 20/05/2015 22:17

Karen Millen - too tight
French Connection - After buying two expensive jumpers which are now bobbledy no matter how often I get the debobbliser to them, I may have to add them to the bad list.

I am currently wearing a fab COS white shirty tunic sack style top which I love, with River Island jeans with a couple of unnecessary zips!
RI fab for jeans.
COS clothes wear really well.

queenbrunhilda · 20/05/2015 23:38

TK Maxx: OK, so will swerve the food from now on, but this weekend I got a brilliant pair of Joseph 7/8th jeans and a classic Diesel silk jumpsuit and still had change from £50 quid. Not sure I could've got these much cheaper secondhand on Ebay once postage is factored in... 'tis a wonderful place.

Floisme · 21/05/2015 08:12

Shock at the TK Maxx hate. Everything I'm wearing today is from there.

debricassartcleary · 21/05/2015 09:59

But isn't TK Max a shop built upon clothes that couldn't sell at any price in their original shop? I always imagine the guys who came up with the idea chuckling away swigging champagne on their private island.

dexter73 · 21/05/2015 10:00

Floisme - you obviously don't shop at the Newbury branch! I think it must be where they send all the TK Maxx stuff that didn't get sold on the clearance rail!
