And what you look like in those clothes... ( you have to do a google pic - a like)

Monsoon. So hippyish and swishy.

Floisme · 17/05/2015 18:42

The White Company: Every colour that doesn't suit me all under the same roof.

EverythingButTheKitchenSink · 18/05/2015 21:11

Cos. If I wanted to wear a tent I'd buy one from Millets at half the price...

LondonRocks · 18/05/2015 21:13

I'm so glad I'm not alone in my dislike of Cos. It's overhyped and overpriced.

sherbetlemonD · 18/05/2015 23:29

NEXT and M&S. Everyone and the vicar's wife seems to wear the one thing you love. Not great when your early 20s and think something is young enough for you and then you see a 85 year old on a mobility scooter wearing it.

And for goodness sake. Never shop at EAST unless your over 80. Hideous, hideous HIDEOUS.

Lambzig · 19/05/2015 07:31

Primark, never been in there and never will.

I want to love Cos, but it doesn't work on me at all.

I really hate Next too.

I can't understand the TKMaxx hatred, admittedly you have to wade through a lot of tat, but I have had some beautiful stuff from there.

dexter73 · 19/05/2015 07:48

My TK Maxx is awful. All tat and nothing beautiful. There was a sign up in there a while ago recalling some nougat as it had a parasitic infection! Put me off ever buying anything edible from there!

NigellasGuest · 19/05/2015 07:56

Has anyone mentioned Country Casuals?

PetiteBateau · 19/05/2015 08:17

River Island, nasty brash blingy tack-fest.

Dowser · 19/05/2015 09:08

Was going to say Tesco but someone beat me to it but that was topped by Lidl's aisle of doom

Anywhere that sells drab clothes in drab colours.

polyhymnia · 19/05/2015 09:51

Agree on awfulness of East, TK Maxx, almost all Next and don't buy from Primark et al or from supermarkets.

polyhymnia · 19/05/2015 09:57

Simply Be still at top of my list though. The PP who saw some nice things in their Oxfird St store must have gone in there at a completely different time from my two visits, when it was full of polyester and garish colours.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 19/05/2015 10:05

M and co
Bank (chavtastic)
Matt Alan (polyester hell)

UmiSays · 19/05/2015 12:47

Next. I do buy a few bits from them, because I'm tall and they do long vests, long PJs and long leggings.

But the rest of the Tall range is horrific in style, fabric, colour, cut, quality. Like the dregs of M&S, stretched to fit a tall person.

Ghastly.

PetiteBateau · 19/05/2015 12:50

Next is dire, I don't know how they stay in business

ephemeralfairy · 19/05/2015 12:57

Per Una at M&S
Also White Stuff/Fat Face.

TeaAddict235 · 19/05/2015 13:13

anything froom BooHoo, RiverIsland or Topshop.

I'd end up looking like a dancehall queen

UmiSays · 19/05/2015 13:14

Cos is dire. I thought I was the only person who thought so?
Totally shapeless, drab colours, just so unflattering... even on the models.

BrendaBlackhead · 19/05/2015 13:20

I don't think anywhere is nice - every shop is either frumpy or tacky. I don't want jolly A-line skirts nor polyester bum-skimming flirty stuff. And I certainly don't want any mad-coloured baggy viscose trousers (as featured in every supermarket).

I had a look at Cos but being quite small I soon realised that instead of looking paired-down and sleek, I'd resemble Sandi Toksvig.

donemekmelarf · 19/05/2015 13:30

Yes Next is dire.
I think they are using cheap materials and getting things cheaply made and it is showing in the quality.
The quality at Next has gone down the pan.

It's false economy because people will stop shopping there.

carrie74 · 19/05/2015 13:43

I struggle with much of the High St TBH - too many polyester mix fabrics, it's so hard to find natural fabrics. In fact I seem to buy all of my clothes in the UK from Gap or Me&Em. In the US I also buy J Crew.

BrendaBlackhead · 19/05/2015 13:45

It is sometimes a shame for shops that they get an image and then they can't escape. I saw a nice navy Cos-type dress on the M&S site, but I know that if I went in there and - yes, I know I shouldn't - ageist and all that - a man was saying, "Yes, Betty, you'd look very nice in that - you treat yourself, Betty," as Betty holds the dress up against her... well, I just couldn't . And disclaimer - I don't judge nice Bettys, only the smug ones who knock you flying as they barge to the best seat in the M&S cafe.

Actually, still worse is if you admire something and then look up and see Twiggy in it grinning down at you...

PetiteBateau · 19/05/2015 15:02

Haha yes to the twiggy comment!! I also find the gigantic close up john rocha face banners in debenhams terrifying

PetiteBateau · 19/05/2015 15:03

As if his clothing wasn't bad enough...

donemekmelarf · 19/05/2015 17:04

Yes to putting back an item of clothing in M & S, if I see somebody older than me picking the same thing up. Ageist I know, but I can't help it Blush

I had two naice cardis from M & S that I have never worn, because I saw June from Gogglebox wearing it.
(no disrespect to June from Gogglebox - she has an amazing figure for her age. I hope I look that slim and toned when I reach her age)

I think it's purely the horror of wearing the same thing your gran is wearing.
