Sorry but can I ask how you remove hair "down there"?

Firstly I'd like to apologise if this is tmi or inappropriate...I hope it's not.

I'm really fighting a losing battle with this one.

I like to stay completely clean down there, like after a Brazilian, but waxing just hurts to much and I don't like having to go to a salon.

Shaving is easier but it grows back too quickly and I get inflamed hair sacks so get lots of red spots....not the look I'm after.

What magic tricks am I missing? Surely there's an easy, pain free method of getting smooth without the pain?

When you've been waxed, has the technician used hot wax, i.e. the type that peels off without using strips?

If you've been getting strip waxed and you can possibly bare giving waxing one last try, find someone that uses hot wax, either Perron Rigot or Lycon (and prefer someone Kim Lawless trained) and see how you get on.

WildBillfemale · 03/04/2015 14:10

I use a boots battery operated 'Bikini' trimmer on the closest setting so the hair left is very very short. I only have to do this about once every 4-5 weeks. I then shave the classic bikini line areas at the front where my legs join my front bit.

TelephoneEggGnawingMachine · 03/04/2015 14:14

The "huge movement" certainly has reached the north of England.

BuzzardBird · 03/04/2015 14:15

I didn't realise that there was a 10yr old cliche?

I did realise that it is weird to want to look like a 10yr old.

Smarterthantheaveragebeaver · 03/04/2015 14:48

Not this part of the north west, TelephoneEgg, judging by how long I have to wait for an appointment. And the fact that the salon I use sometimes runs out of Lycon wax.

Personally I couldnt care less if down there looks like a ten year olds, or Barbies. It my business how it looks. Only me and DH see it. He's never expressed any preference as to how it looks. I prefer not snagging my pubes in my knicker elastic, personally. And as my bikini line appears to also be slowly making its way down my thighs, Id prefer not to frighten small children when I go swimming Grin

Greengardenpixie · 03/04/2015 14:52

I agree with sinclairspectrum. Pubic hair should be there. Its a normal part of growing up and becoming an adult. The OP did bring it up so it actually has been opened up to the public forum.

flumperoo · 03/04/2015 14:54

Just wondering, those who think pubic hair should be left alone as it's there for a reason, do you think the same about leg hair and armpit hair? Surely that's there for a reason too? I'm not trying to be antagonistic btw, just genuinely curious.

catsrus · 03/04/2015 14:55

It would only frighten small children if they were to think it's not perfectly normal to have pubic hair. Personally I think removing it is creepy as it does make your genital area look pre pubescent - weird, why would anyone want to look as though they hadn't reached puberty? How is that sexually attractive?

It's nothing to do with being sexually attractive, I couldn't care less how DP prefers my pubic hair, in fact I've never asked him and he's never offered an opinion. It's not even about how it looks, I don't like how it feels so I as a grown women choose to shave it all off the same way I choose to shave my legs and underarms.

Fuck me these threads make me so glad I am 40 (and a bit....). This whole genitals as fashion statements thing totally passed me by. The whole pubes being in or out or making a comeback is so so bizarre. And trying to pass it off as a health and safety issue so that your pubes don't snag in knicker lining actually made me laugh out loud. Does anyone remember the thread where women were reporting how how they accidentally sliced their genitals PRIOR TO GIVING BIRTH as they tried to tidy up down there!!!

Witchofthenorth · 03/04/2015 15:05

I use hair removing cream, slap it on, wait for five minutes then shower it off! Easy Smile

I get that we have pubes for a reason, although I'm still figuring out what is sooooo important that they need to be there. But, I prefer to have none. I have no desire to be a 10 year old girl, and trust me, after 4 kids and fluctuating weight, my foof doesn't look like a prepubescent girls!

I do it because I feel cleaner, I don't sweat as much down there and I like the extra sensitivity during sex. For what it's worth, my DP couldn't give a shit if I have a bald fanny or a 70s bush!

I do it for me and cos I can

Pipbin · 03/04/2015 15:11

Me too. It all passed me by. Full on 70s here. It all seems a lot of maintenance to me.

Whoishillgirl · 03/04/2015 15:13

And all these bizarre justifications! Cleaner? Not so sweaty? Snagging on knicker elastic? Don't like how it feels??!? This is so alien. It is like reading about the customs of some previously unheard of tribe from deepest Peru. It really is. None of theses reasons are ever things that have ever crossed my mind as a'thing' about having pubic hair. Because they are not 'things'. These 'reasons' are none issues. It is actually quite interesting to see how one can be cultured into a practice and then after the fact create justifications for said practice. The only real reason is that young women are following a fashion created by the ubiquity of porn nowadays.

CarbeDiem · 03/04/2015 15:14

I mostly use a beard trimmer then either shave or use hair remover around the sides.
Exfoliating is the key to stop ingrowing hairs and spots after shaving, I've found.
Mine certainly isn't like a childs, I do leave some hair there but I don't like it when it gets too long. People can say what they like and disagree but I hate it long and bushy, especially when I'm having a period - I mostly use pads and it's just grim imo. And yes before anyone says - if you shower daily then it shouldn't be grim - I do and it still is.

PastPerfect · 03/04/2015 15:18

I've never understood why those who like to go natural get so frothy about those of us who don't.

I couldn't give the slightest fuck what anyone else wants to do with their hair so I find the over investment in what I do with mine bizarre Confused

OP I second giving the hot wax a go. I find it virtually painless but you can always take a couple of ibuprofen beforehand.

leaves thread before inevitable your DH must be a paedo if he likes you hair free comment

HappenstanceMarmite · 03/04/2015 15:18

And yes, 10 year old girls have no pubes, women do

Fgs this again. Women also have armpit and leg hair. Do they get rid of that to look like a 10year old too?

babygiraffe86 · 03/04/2015 15:20

Been getting rid of mine since I was about 18, had a few different partners since then and noone has ever commented anything like 'oh you're bald'
In the same way everyone has a personal preference to hairstyles, removal or not of leg and underarm hair I have a preference to my downstairs hair.
I don't like having any at all, personal preference. Noone has asked me to ever, and if I don't bother for a few weeks it's not a major issue. I just don't like it.

holmessweetholmes · 03/04/2015 15:27

Oh ffs - this 'looking like a 10 year-old girl' nonsense! There are many ways in which a fully grown woman does not look like a 10 year-old girl. Do you honestly believe that the gazillions of women who trim or remove their pubic hair actually do so in order to look like 10 year-old girls?! Really?! A 30 year-old is not going to be mistaken for a 10 year-old girl whatever she does with her pubic hair.

And what's with the disbelieving women who say they find it cleaner and more comfortable? Are they not allowed to feel that?

Oh and genuine question, those of you saying 'It's there for a reason ', what is that reason? And does the reason still apply now that we humans wear clothes?

Fwiw I only trim. And I only do it because of comfort and cleanliness.

momtothree · 03/04/2015 15:30

I was hoping someone had tried the home laser NONo ??

Witchofthenorth · 03/04/2015 15:36

who cleaner and less sweaty are my personal reasons, I'm not saying they are justified for all, just for me and frankly I'm the only one who matters when it comes to my preference for pubes....I was giving an opinion, not a statement of factfor the entire female population.

And FWIW....I didn't watch a porn film and decide to go bald. When I had decided to remove allp public hair

Witchofthenorth · 03/04/2015 15:37

All my public hair, I hadn't watched any porn.

Witchofthenorth · 03/04/2015 15:37

Public hair!!! Damn phone....pressed too soon Blush
