I keep seeing this on different threads and obv they've been around a long time but is it time to call it a day with the skinny jeans and trousers? I love them!

Not sob here, but cheers.

They don't suit me and I find them uncomfortable. DD, however is a skinny size 6 and looks fabulous in skinnies.

Tanaqui · 01/03/2015 15:57

Probably as I found the first pair I liked this Christmas!

dementedpixie · 01/03/2015 15:57

I don't care what fashion says and will continue to wear skinnies as I hate flares, boot cut, etc

MuttersDarkly · 01/03/2015 16:22

Stock up now. Buy three pairs of everything you like.

I hate skinnies but did not stock up with extra, back up pairs when skinnies started to push out boot cut etc. from the shops. And my dwindling/darned/holely supply of preferred trousers have come close to forcing me into skinnies. Which is still the only sodding choice in the shops round my way. Unless I wanted elasticiated waist, expensive, nylon horrors from the Elderly Lady Shop.

I breathed a sigh of relief to hear that soon I'll be able to actually buy what I like again.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 01/03/2015 16:24

Primark and H&M have plenty.

I wear them and always will.

Pennies · 01/03/2015 16:24

What are replacing skinnies then?

Notcontent · 01/03/2015 16:25

No, I don't think so, because they do suit a lot of people and are so easy to wear.

Onamissionfor2015 · 01/03/2015 16:27

New look high waist skinnies are the best jeans ever! (Believe me I have just about tried every pair of jeans out every other shop)

I'm going to buy each colour in each size just in case this is true

In the shops it is still 90% skinnies so I don't think they are over quite yet.

GaryShitpeas · 01/03/2015 16:33

I don't think shops will ever stop selling them as I think they have become a kind of "staple" basic. Even as other styles go in and out.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/03/2015 16:34

I think most shops still tend to stock a range anyway. I won't be getting rid of mine any time soon, although I may try a narrow flare or slim bootcut again too.

Wadingthroughsoup · 01/03/2015 16:34

Awww dammit. I had a lovely pair of VERY flared jeans from a charity shop which I recently threw out (not entirely sure why). Now I want them back. Waaaaah!

noddyholder · 01/03/2015 16:38

I think people will stop wearing them even though we always think we won't with things that come in and out. They have definitely become cool among over 60s where I live which is great for them but I am not ready for that yet! I still like mine turned up with heels and big jumpers but I think with flats I might look a bit Mary berry and I am NOT going there!

MuttersDarkly · 01/03/2015 16:44

I don't see why everyone thinks skinnies don't suit them if they are over a size 10. I am five foot nothin

I'm a size 40 which is about a ten. I wore them in the 80s as a teenager and loved them. Now... I think they make my (alright for a 47 year old - dance knackered my knees, but gave me good leg shape) legs look like carrots.

And I hate the crotch grabbing nature of them. I like things more relaxed over my nether regions.

So I don't think it is a size thing, I think it is an individual body, sense of what makes you feel confident and comfort thing. And an age thing maybe.

I can't help it. Skinnies, rah rah skirts, Pepsi and Shirley socks, fingerless black lace gloves and pixie boot for me will be forever "my yoof" wear. I am many things, but youthful I am not.

Ohmygrood · 01/03/2015 16:44

I thought it was the levis/80's look that was coming back in.
Like bananarama when they first started or madonna's jeans in papa don't preach.

Turquoiseblue · 01/03/2015 16:49

I don't think skinnies are over at all. In fact can't remember where I was reading but the prediction for I think AW 15 was skinnies (and flares).
My mind is completely foggy! I think it migt have been somewhere like fashion round up of the various looks from the fashion weeks.
I remember though as I had been mournfully looking at my lovely skinnies thinking when this pregnancy is over they ll be out of style ...Grin So was delighted to read it might be worthwhile storing them in the back of the closet somewhere.
Besides - nice and all as flares are- they re just not cut for everyone and as for flares in wet weather - nothing worse than wet denim slapping on your shin ......

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 01/03/2015 16:56

I hope they are over for a while - I've never really liked them.

I've already dug out some of my old flares - I'm wearing a fantastic red pair from Top Shop (circa 2002) at the moment. Looking forward to getting some new pairs in blue - my two current pairs are falling to pieces...

Floisme · 01/03/2015 16:59

Skinnies used to be a bit edgy and cool but they've become safe and boring. That's why they'll go, although I don't think they'll disappear straight away. I also can't believe people think they're flattering! We've just got used to the carrot-leg look.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 01/03/2015 17:03

Currently wearing pair of skinnies, I've got all kinds style of jeans except flares.

Skinnies I think are like leggings they will always be about

Bunbaker · 01/03/2015 17:03

"I don't see why everyone thinks skinnies don't suit them if they are over a size 10."

They make my legs look like parsnips (and I loathe parsnips Grin).

woodhill · 01/03/2015 17:05

I thought I may go to M&S and buy some polyester slacks with an elasticated waist for a change Smile

DontDrinkandFacebook · 01/03/2015 17:06

Are they? Oh thank heavens. I look like a short, fat little parsnip in skinnies and I hate being the only frumpy, mumsy one still clinging desperately to my bootcuts. What's next? Please don't say boyfriend cut. I look even worse in those. Sad

WilburIsSomePig · 01/03/2015 18:33

Kind of mixed views from everyone, they're a bit like marmite! I was a late comer to skinny jeans but I really like them now though my absolutely favourite ever pair of jeans are straight leg but I think that may just because they are lovely jeans.

Floisme · 01/03/2015 18:44

The thing is, if you stock up on skinnies, I think you'd have to stockpile lots of other things too. Flares are a different way of dressing - there's another thread about it but basically the proportions aren't the same.
I was a bit grumpy about flares at first cos I think they're much faffier than skinnies but then I remembered how much better I look in them. I'd virtually given up on rans
