In a good way I should add! Love it

Stokey · 21/01/2015 11:14

I can't comment on your looks until I meet you all either - Was someone talking about a mini meet-up before March?

I heard one of Mark Ronson's new songs on the radio yesterday Shop and thought I must get the album. Have you got a portable radiator? They're the biz when you're in draughty old houses by yourself. My DH is away next week too and am not looking forward to it.

Am also thinking about summer hols, somewhere short haul but trying to co-ordinate with 2 other families is proving tricky. No-one can decide on dates or even which country, just somewhere hot near Med or Aegean.

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 11:17

shop holiday rounds fab. Will you be mingling with colleagues as I think you said you need to look corporate? I've been looking at bikinis in the sale but nothing has hugely taken my fancy.
lib 3 nights sounds heaven. You'll miss them and be glad to get back but it'll be a fab break.
I could do with a break myself. Feeling a bit down and frazzled hormonal. Dd has been challenging this week and I'm finding my volunteering tough going at the moment. I feel like hibernating but I need to get my mojo back.

Quick question about eyebrows...what do you all do? I get mine waxed every couple of months when I get my eyelashes done and try and keep on top of them with the tweezers in between. I get loads of baby fine hairs though and find them difficult to pluck. Home waxing is out of the question as I've done it a few times and I end up ripping half my skin off. I'm thinking of going for waxing every 2 weeks...

OneLittleLady · 21/01/2015 11:25

I just pluck stragglers QueenC unfortunately, like my leg hair, my eyebrow hairs seem to be falling out. I don't know what's going on with that, have mentioned it to the GP and the clinic doing investigations but don't know if it's a symptom of something or just something on its own

libertychick · 21/01/2015 11:40

Hugs for you QueenC. It's a tough time of year, so dark and cold that it's hard to feel upbeat. I imagine it's hard for the person you are volunteering to help too. Sorry to hear things are difficult with DD.

On eyebrows, mine had started to look overplucked so I recently let them grow for about 6 months and only plucked very obvious stragglers. I had them threaded and shaped last week in House of Fraser in Victoria and they look great now. I think I'll go back there every 6 weeks, it's much more expensive than my local place (£17 v's £4) but the end result is much better. I think waxing every 2 weeks sounds like a lot especially on skin around your eyes. Have you got a tweezerman tweezers? They are expensive (about £15 - £20) but they are excellent and will grab very fine hairs. Also a magnifying mirror is essential (although horrifying!!!). And the other thing is and I speak as someone with a lot of hormonal problems and a lot of facial hair as a result facial hair of all types is much more noticeable to yourself than others. I really wouldn't worry about a few fine hairs between waxes, you are really the only person who will see them.

MarshaBrady · 21/01/2015 13:06

Hugs from me too QueenC. I tried threading once I looked so different I yelped (inside). Now I just stick with plucking strays, I need the brows. Straighter the better for me too, rather than shaped in any way.

I bought some more Hush pjs as I ordered some for dh's birthday and I had to make use of the delivery.

Pyjamas I haven't ordered anything for a while, took me ages to work up to spending £50 combined.

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 14:09

Woohoo, period has started so the mojo should be back v soon Grin

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 14:10

Thanks for the hugs.

maradesbois · 21/01/2015 14:31

Hello,

Top question One. I am another contender for TheSanta!! I don't know why but she reminds me of Coco Chanel played by Audrey Tautou in the film when she says get ready then look in the mirror and remove an accessory.

Shop I emphasise with both your draughty window and being left home alone by dh situations Thanks. The latter makes sure we never take each other for granted though and also means I avoid the temptation to eat cheese and bread every day during the week.

Karbea don't abandon black completely if you love it. Isn't the colour thing more about what you wear next to your face?

QueenC can't remember if I said already but am definitely planning to come to the March mu. For eyebrows I pluck but try not to overdo it. Had them done at bobbi brown a few weeks ago and v happy with the result.

Have just bought a bright yellow Ralph Lauren cashmere jumper in the tk maxx clearance. Was probably in clearance due to colour but think it will work for spring with white or pale blue skinnies or over a pale chambray shirt.

maradesbois · 21/01/2015 14:36

QueenC sounds like you need some time to yourself. Can you organise a night out with girlfriends?

AmberNectarine · 21/01/2015 14:42

Won't make the March MU - have to go to a party. Will be thinking of you all though.

I would have a rummage in Blair's wardrobe I think!

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 14:51

mara there are a couple of nights out and a weekend away in the pipeline. Can't do a lot this week or next as dh on call. Although we are out next Friday night.

Actually amber I might like a rummage in your shoe cupboard.

MarshaBrady · 21/01/2015 14:51

I'd have a spot of Blair's wardrobe too.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/01/2015 15:10
Grin

We need someone to invent a technology that will bend space so that we can all just pop in and out of each others wardrobes for a day!

That jumper sounds lovely mara and so do the styling ideas.

QueenC hope the mojo does reappear soon. Shop is it today DH is back? I can't wait for January to be over, so long and miserable and I haven't been paid since Xmas eve

Drywhiteplease · 21/01/2015 15:30

I'll second tweezermans and magnifying mirror. I getine waxed every 6 wks, don't wear glasses in between then I don't notice stragglers Grin

Snow snow snowb, all night and all day.... Love it but will be relieved when home .

So chuffed when a 20 something colleague and beautiful trendy herself said to me today " you're so trendy, I hope I dress like you when I'm your age". Obv where I live is fairly conservative, in MNV standards I'm hardly trendy. Felt chuffed all day . Was wearing black loafers -no socks!-- black skinnies, new white shirt under long line fitted black cardigan, simple.

OneLittleLady · 21/01/2015 15:52

sounds like a great outfit Dry

I'm chuffed to bits, went in the house of fraser outlet we've got and bagged myself a large size McQueen razor blade cuff in black. really pleased with it, only cost me £20 as well so extra chuffed over the price! Grin

Hope you perk up soon QueenC Thanks

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/01/2015 15:56

Excellent One, love it when bargain hunting pays off, can you find a link so you can pin?

Dry you are trendy! I hope your ankles aren't cold though Grin

OneLittleLady · 21/01/2015 16:01

I've already pinned it to my 2015 purchases board blair Grin I'm super super chuffed with it, I'm wearing ti right now in fact, put it on as soon as I got home haha

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/01/2015 16:03

Oh yes just seen it! so perfect for you :)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/01/2015 16:12

Does anyone know if M&S skirts come up true to size or maybe a bit big or small? Skirt I was looking at just sold out in a 10 before my eyes Hmm

muddlingalongquitenicely · 21/01/2015 16:15

I got mine waxed at the beginning of jan booked in at the begining of feb for tint and wax but thinking i might not need the wax now and might swap to a manicure instead.
My payday in december was messed up as i started a new job and my old job told payroll i left half way through the previous month so they reclaimed half my wages and didnt pay my holiday pay they owed me so hoping its all sorted this month with 2 lots of wages Grin

OneLittleLady · 21/01/2015 16:42

I am now super warm and snuggly in my new care bears onesie hahaha Grin I also have thermal socks on that match the blue of the onesie, see I can be co ordinated Grin

libertychick · 21/01/2015 16:46

Blair I think M&S comes up a little big. I find their skirts in a 12 are often big on my waist and then slightly small/fitted on hips so depends on shape of skirt. I'd say you would be fine sizing down in an A-line/flared shape but might be trickier in a pencil skirt.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/01/2015 17:17

Thanks Lib, I have taken your advice as the skirt is only fitted on the waist. It's this one. I've added in some underwear and tights too to get free delivery. The knickers I like are literally never in stock usually!

Drywhiteplease · 21/01/2015 17:34

In that style you were right to size down blair

Today I was trying to look like a combo of this and
