wooooo, new thread!

Drywhiteplease · 14/01/2015 21:03

New essential piece of winter clothing....a fleece lined, yak wool , hand knitted head band......I'm starting a new trend. However, whilst my ears were toasty in the freezing wind, the back of my head was a bit chilly.Grin

Ive had a bit (under statement) of a magazine binge today, so sitting sipping lemon and ginger tea wondering where you would wear some of the outfits they put in it as they are quite weird.

Karbea · 14/01/2015 21:06

Hello! Back from yoga day 3!

muddlingalongquitenicely · 14/01/2015 21:10

Hows it going Karbea?

Drywhiteplease · 14/01/2015 21:11

Ok...I have a lot more to say. I've caught up:
"Running free through the woods" made me Grin would that be naked QueenC Grin
"Shake hands with a MAN" Blair NOOOO Shock how rude! I couldn't possibly Grin
Culottes? Muddling don't think it has anything to do with height, just style and proportions. I'm 5f3 just and would wear an a line shape,no pleating at waist, with a fitted top.
Kardea have tried Shop's Chanel eye pencils and v impressed
One well done! knew you'd do it.
Blair "style day as a group"?Shock are you suggesting MNV do one?Grin I suspect you and lib I actually know know a lot more about fashion than the average lady.
Cranagh sorry about your jewellery, horrible BASTARDS....please could you like your jewellers again?

Finally, been to the gym again snore when DS "hench" gets back he has a protein shake to repair muscle damage, I'm finding a Wine does a similar job Grin

Im drawn to the oxblood ones from topshop (first time purchase possibly from there) will see if they have any in the local branch.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/01/2015 21:18

Thanks Dry :) the last thread filled up so fast at the end!

Amber I'm not really sure about cos either, I think I wrote it because I think of their clothes as "neat". I couldn't think of anything else for gamine! Even the HoC literature didn't seem to have space for gamine - the 5 body types not 6 - I nearly asked about it but there wasn't enough time.

People who did the kibbe quiz, I agree it's about much more than body shape, which is why I was so baffled when my consultant did an about turn on everything she'd said before she saw my body shape.

Anyway, I think I'm going to focus on being better groomed for now. I also did a little wishlist for S/S.
Grey round or scoop neck T
Denim skirt (high waisted)
Going out dress for hen dos
New bikini for day after wedding Grin
Tan platform sandals with a dark wood sole
Anyone else?

Oh and I picked up this Jigsaw silk cami which I think is RC and will work well over wonderbra ultimate strapless as a going out top.

Fedupnagging · 14/01/2015 21:19

I spent so long trying to set up a new thread, you beat me to it Dry!

I have just done a super healthy fruit smoothie for ds3 (it was delish) then gave him a multi vitamin - which he washed down with a mouthful of squirty cream Hmm!

I did the kibbe quiz too but like Amber didn't feel it gave me my 'correct' body shape. But of course, these quizzes ask questions and you give your opinion of what your nose/ears/hair etc looks like. How we see ourselves is not necessarily how others see us or what we 'really' look like.

Drywhiteplease · 14/01/2015 21:24

So sorry Fedup I'll let you do it next time.

Wish list so far;
Red pointy flats
Black, fine knit, round necked, long sleeved boxy, hip length sweater ....I really need help finding this. Prayed to pay as it's a classic staple.
The perfect fitted white cotton shirt

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 14/01/2015 21:25

"Prepared to pay" no praying involved.

muddling I'm loving yoga! I used to be a real gym bunny before I met dh. I'd not done any exercise at all since last feb before this week, I knew I'd missed doing something but hadn't realised how much.
I'm really struggling with what to eat before and after. Today before I had a banana and after coming home I've eaten an egg, a scrambled egg, some kale crisps but threw them away as I didn't really fancy them and some white cabbage, but I'm still mega hungry as I've not really had a dinner and it's late now to eat.
dry I'd heard the chanel one was good. The Charlotte tilbury ones seem to get good reviews too.

Drywhiteplease · 14/01/2015 21:34

liberty DH bought me these earrings for valentines last year. They are quite tiny, and delicate.....I wear them almost every day. You said you like a small drop.

OP posts:
QueenCardigan · 14/01/2015 21:39

Wish list so far...
Bikini
Sundresses
Grey denim shorts
Grey havianas ( wish I'd bought grey rather than pink)
Grey jacket/thick cardigan of some sort
Ballet flats with laces up the leg
Possible culottes

I'm sure there'll be more...

QueenCardigan · 14/01/2015 21:41

for dry

QueenCardigan · 14/01/2015 21:43

or this

bettykt · 14/01/2015 21:44

Thanks for the new thread Dry

Cranagh Flowers for your stolen jewellery, some people are just vile, stealing your memories just like that.

One a big well done to you

Interesting chat again about CP which led me to thinking about actresses e.g. Clare Underwood from HOCards is definitely Classic but when I saw her as herself Robyn Wright in the GG dress I thought nooo Clare wouldn't wear that but of course she isn't Clare, same as SJ Parker who is a lot more streamlined with her clothing than Carrie Bradshaw so what I'm trying to say is that we may look a certain way height, weight, features but perhaps we can have many CP and they'll still suit depending how we wear them I'll shut up now as I haven't explained myself very well

Anyway Blair/Lib when you have more time I'd be interested to hear which shops are better suited for certain CP. I veer more towards Uniqlo, some plain Boden, JCrew, did I mention this was my new fave Grin repetitive moi? Massimo Dutti, i.e plain clothes BUT today this arrived leopard top and it's love. I tried it with black Boden bistro trousers and ballet flats and it didn't look ott at all.

I have a confession to make SS clothing doesn't excite me at all, it's when I really lose my way, fashion wise, and all my grey, black, navy ,leopard print goes out of the window and I just can't seem to dress for the season Sad I buy clothes that aren't me. Hopefully you'll help me fix that this year Grin

Drywhiteplease · 14/01/2015 21:45

Almost, QueenC but I need it longer ....hip length pref.wrong season I guess.
Karbea protein! Keep cooked chicken breast in your fridge at all times. You can do all sorts with it and it's filling. Tuna is good too or add smoked salmon to your scrambled eggs. Almonds are filling and good too.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 14/01/2015 21:51

Marking place. Still a bit :(
Fashion mojo will be back shortly. DH has agreed that if his club trip goes ahead in April I will need a new holiday wardrobe (Caribbean and corporate) and he will fund it. Which is a relief as I can't spend until April while I replenish funds after the LKB boots and my Joseph leather leggings.
Loving all the style chat. I definitely have different personas for different things - wonder how that translates to fashion Hmm
Dry will keep an eye out for a black sweater.

Karbea · 14/01/2015 21:52

dry thank you, I really need to get the fridge organised. It's been a weird week what with exercising in the eves and dh being away. So I've not been cooking an eve meal...

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/01/2015 21:57

I think it's a very good point re characters and their "looks" betty! I also don't understand how certain people (models, street style stars, some bloggers) can look good in all sorts of different things, rather than amazing in some things and meh in others. this is sort of like the colours to me - as long as you're making an effort and look nice, do other people really notice whether you're wearing the best colours or style for you??

Exciting shop :)

QueenCardigan · 14/01/2015 22:00

betty I find winter dressing so much easier and more exciting too.

OneLittleLady · 14/01/2015 22:03

I'd love to look 'classic', just for certain things but it really really isn't me, I can't do those neatly tailored classic looks. I need drama and colour, splash and pizazz!. I don't know if that's just an image I've built for myself or it's my personality coming through but I just can't do classic, I can't, I've tried and it just looked like I was wearing my mum's clothes

QueenCardigan · 14/01/2015 22:03

Even Kate moss wouldn't look good in those RC monstrosities you linked though blair Grin. Good point about characters but they must take body architecture into account a little bit when choosing actresses wardrobes. I don't think I could ever look good in a corporate tailored suit and shirt type outfit but then I guess major budget things can tailor things to fit arounds curves and boobs etc.
