I'm a jewel winter and I like lilac eye-shadow in the summer, but I'm a very pale skinned, greying blonde so not sure how it would work with darker hair. I add navy eyeliner and fuchsia pink lipstick if I'm going out.

Ooh lilac sounds interesting, I'll look into that, thanks

TinyLittleOne · 11/03/2015 09:31

Another one that doesn't wear very much eye makeup, however BrightAs reminded me that I used to have a lilac eyeshadow that really suited me, hopefully it will work for you too Jan.

Standing, did you manage to track down the other thread, did it have any good ideas for you?

Look forwards to seeing your shopping purchases Queen, physical shopping is definitly the way forwards. I am not having much luck virtual shopping and am sat here looking at lots of boxes that I need to send back!

NeitherHereOrThere · 11/03/2015 10:09

I use grey or taupe eyeshadow when going out. But mostly I just wear eyeliner (either liquid or pencil, depending on how much time I have) and mascara.

Stokey · 11/03/2015 10:42

Hello winters

I've been trying not to spend too much time on MN so just popping in.

I'm not sure what you're looking for Standing but I wore this dress to my 40th last year. It is actually a darker red than it looks in the picture, a perfect match for carmine, and looks great on.

I've been wearing my pink Hush jumper, purple Cos scarf and jeans for months it seems. I think I want to get a denim dress, some trainers and some flats for spring... oh and some new tops, preferably dark green/purple.

I hardly wear any eye make up too, generally just go lips and a bit of mascara.

Oh and loved your photo Sorrel, you and your hair look lovely.

SorrelForbes · 11/03/2015 12:04

My Uniqlo order arrived this week and was a success (especially as I had a 20% off voucher):

Navy flared skirt. Thiner than expected but not too clingy. Hits just above the knee so should be fine for work in the summer with a silk top and wedges.

Silk t-shirt. I ordered this in black and light grey. Very nice for the price but I wish it didn't have a breast pocket. It's roomy though and I could have probably got away with a small (even with my norks). It's a little bit boxier than I'd normally go for but it's silk, the right colour and a great price. The grey is a fairly good match for shade 2.

Dark grey jacket. It's nothing special but it was a good price, fits well and will be realyl useful. I haven't seen anything nicer in the shops at the moment tbh.

I mentioned upthread about a purple (shade 8) RL jersey top with three quarter length sleeves, turned back cuff and black popper fastening at the neck that I bought for £12.99. Anyway, the neck is cut too high for me and it's bloody annoying. Anyone want it for P&P? PM me.

QueenCardigan · 11/03/2015 13:52

I hate breast pockets sorrell and it really limits things I can buy. I'm looking forward to a proper look in Uniqlo on Saturday though.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 11/03/2015 14:34

I just bought some nice new eyeshadows. I got Armani eye tints in 7 and 8. Love them.

It took me a while to find us winters - languishing on page 5!

I had some success in Cos this week - I bought a black and white striped jumper and a green skirt which looks completely different on me - it's a flared midi.

THey have lots of tops in ice aqua if any one is looking for anything. I liked this silk one and this one.

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 09:03

Hi winters, I had a successful shopping trip yesterday. Will link later as ive just linked everything on the vogue thread. If you follow me on pin you'll see my haul on there.

carrie74 · 15/03/2015 09:27

Happy Mothers Day, winters!!

I'm trying to keep a low shopping profile at the moment, we're off to Florida for the Easter holidays, and I always buy up a storm (I'd say 90% of my clothes are american brands: Gap, J Crew, Banana Republic, Victorias Secret (!), Sam Edelman shoes/boots...).

However with 40% off Gap in store, I popped along for a flying visit with DD yesterday (we're also going to a weddi next weekend, and I needed some chinos for DS and a cardie for DD). Bought this, which looks AWFUL on the model, but I LOVE! Wore it last night to dinner party with black opaques, chunky grey heeled boots and a hot pink necklace. www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1028512&vid=1&pid=000227503

carrie74 · 15/03/2015 09:32

Oh and Sorrel LOVE those Uniqlo silk tops, have had it pinned for a while and keep gazing at them. Should just buy one...

Eye shadows: I generally wear Vex by Mac, sometimes on its own with eyeliner, sometimes layered up with others.

SorrelForbes · 15/03/2015 10:17

I went out for dinner last night to a rather nice bistro. I tried on a few outfits including a couple of dresses but ended up in my 'uniform' of black skinnies, high black Alina heels plus the grey Uniqlo silk top and the Uniqlo jacket. I looked so much better (slimmer, taller, groomed) in that combo than when I tried something floatier. DH agreed and it's nice to get confirmation that my style rules work!

SorrelForbes · 15/03/2015 10:18

If anyone's in a 'spending' mood and wants a gorgeous jacket, I've just spotted this on The Outnet.

SorrelForbes · 15/03/2015 11:20

I'd seen this dress in the adverts for the Le Plaige but hadn't realised you actually buy it. Sadly it's £345. Please convince me that the background is ivory so that I don't feel so bad about not being able to afford it!

winterwalks · 15/03/2015 14:31

Hi Queen Cadigan
What is your pin interest name

mimiasovitch · 15/03/2015 14:55

Hi Winters. I'm in a real spending lull at the moment. I feel like I want to buy something, but can't see anything that makes me need it. Well, apart from an off the shoulder black evening dress that I really don't need, and a, or rather any, of the Katya Wildman bombshell dresses. I love them but can't really justify one at the moment. I'm waiting for some new season stock to light my interest. I work in a restaurant, and whilst I can wear whatever I like (family business) I tend to wear black t shirts and a bright patterned skirt most days. I need something I can wash everyday, and that is forgiving when I spill stuff over myself. Add super comfy shoes to the mix and I look a right fox Hmm. I'm rambling now. Maybe I need to find something attractive, comfy, and not too spendy. Any ideas? I'm rather fond of jersey dresses.

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 20:39

Ok, so my purchases...

cardigan

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 20:41

blazer

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 20:43

blouse in navy

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 20:44

Silk tank in blue

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 20:53

top. Probably a little blue-er than ice blue but looks good anyway and tones in with all my swatch colours.

QueenCardigan · 15/03/2015 20:55

Tried the top on and it's a gorgeous dark emerald colour but sadly the high neck didn't work for me.

didireallysaythat · 15/03/2015 21:18

That's quite a haul Queen - that would be a year's worth of shopping for me (but admittedly I don't need jackets for work so I'd skip the blazer).

QueenCardigan · 16/03/2015 11:08

did I was very lucky as I got given money for Mother's Day. And the stuff from banana Republic was all on sale with an extra 25% off so was very reasonable. I won't be buying much for a while now honest although I vould do with a couple more daytime summer tops.
