Before my diagnosis my wardrobe was mostly dark blue, I think summer blue (ie not a navy blue but a slightly lighter, grey, slate blue). After my diagnosis I removed all the colours that to be honest I didn't wear much (cream, brown, khaki). The blue is all still there - probably 15 different tops, bottoms etc all fairly close in colour. I'm trying to move to a darker navy blue (I probably only buy a handful of things a year, and only when needed). I have bought scarves in fushia, electric blue, a couple of glass necklaces, and possibly the world's biggest collection of red lipsticks. Most of which I'm not sure about ! I was just wondering if I should step outside my comfort zone.

Another dumb question - for that extra pip of colour to offset the black with denim thing I've got going, nail varnish is an option. Do you change colour every day ? Wearing the same bright colour for two days in a row is a bit like wearing the same bright top for two days in a row ? Maybe its just me.

NeitherHereOrThere · 21/01/2015 17:14

I wear the same polish for around 5 days as that's how long it usually lasts before chipping.

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 18:24

I wear polish for as long as it remains unchipped. Usually 2-3 days. I don't wear it every day but I like to wear it at weekends when I'm doing less housework and so less chance of chipping.

didireallysaythat · 21/01/2015 18:42

Queen exact reverse of me ! I don't do a very good job as I do it in bed then fall asleep, invariably marking it horribly. If I'm lucky it lasts two days but it never makes it half s day at the weekend (gardening doesn't help). I like the idea and feel more, well, polished with polish so perhaps I'll focus on lipstick and nails to get over my purple fear....

fooogle · 22/01/2015 03:28

didi, I wonder if your red lipstick purchases outnumber mine secretly hope so Grin
Sounds like a plan to have the accessories in other colours, I've def noticed if I have contrasts it looks good too, did you like white? (Can't remember) as that'd maybe boost the blue?
Impressed at nail polish usage, i did over Christmas but have stopped and nails all splitty now not impressed . Does it effect your nails at all to do it regularly? What're your colours of choice didi and queen?

NeitherHereOrThere · 22/01/2015 11:57

Oops, my spending ban didn't last Blush

I blame foogle - suddenly I have an urge to own a biker jacket and have ordered this one...

It should come in very useful for a forthcoming trip to a stylish European city as I won't have much luggage space.

QueenCardigan · 22/01/2015 14:07

My nails are fine foogle. I use a Sally Hansen conditioning remover as the remover used to make my nails dry. My favourite colours are fuschia and raspberry but I also wear damson, royal purple, grey and navy.

didireallysaythat · 22/01/2015 14:39

I've got dark purple (so it's almost brown black - otherwise it would be purple !) on today. Bit too dark. And foolishly I got dressed in a rush, too yellowly green top. Not great. Red lipstick and black dress may not offset.

JennyWren · 23/01/2015 12:52

Can I ask you where you all get your scarves from please? I used to have a fabulous white scarf with a blue pattern on it, and I lost it somewhere and have never been able to find it since. Very similar to this, but white and blue. And I'd love a similar white and grey one. And white and raspberry, now I come to think about it. But I so rarely get to go searching around the shops and I've had no luck finding them online. I think I'm looking in the wring places.

I have so many scarves, some of which (well, maybe one Blush) are even true winter colours, but they're not quite what I need. I ought to throw them all away, but I'll be cold in the meantime!

NeitherHereOrThere · 23/01/2015 15:15

Try ebay. TK Maxx and dept stores are another source.

SorrelForbes · 23/01/2015 18:28

A couple of purchases today.

A grey (shade 4) short sleeved dress from The White Company. Reduced from £99 to £30. It'll be ideal for summer holidays as long as I can lose a few pounds to help with the VPL

A purple (shade 8) jersey top with three quarter length sleeves (with a nice cuff detail) from Ralph Lauren. £12.99!

fooogle · 24/01/2015 11:57

sorrel purchase sound nice. I like idea of summer dresses but don't seem to wear many, end up in tops and shorts or skirts...
Went to real shops yesterday!
Bought a raspberry loop scarf from bennetton, various long vests from h and m and... Another biker! This time from topshop maybe this'll get it out of my system ?!!!
Returned all of me + em order inc cashmere snood thing (just not luxurious enough). Biker was a bit of an odd design. I kind of want one that's gonna last so is a bit classic (though hard to be sure you've got they hey?). One I got was topshop boutique shrunken one in a 16!!! Kind of defeats the shrunken thing as I'm a 12 but think fits nicely. They are all a but cropped though -I've got long body too.
Today in hush black skinny cords, beetroot type long best and burgundy cashmere v.

Hello everyone. I'm a sultry winter and love this thread, I've made some gorgeous make up purchases from recommendations here, thank you all.
I really need some long vests for layering and wondered if anyone could help me with finding sultry winter ones. It's all the deep colours that I have ** on. I especially love the deep green, damson, carmine and all the dark blues. Oh, and charcoal and burgundy. Actually that just about covers the dark colours doesn't it?! And ice blue. I still don't have much of an eye for getting the right colours, I've made a few purchases but I have a feeling I'm going a bit more dark autumn so would really appreciate some help.
I'm quite large in the bust area and so I can't really get away with too small a strap or racer back type ones. I don't mind a bit of strap showing but my straps tend to be a quite 'heavy duty' so I don't want them to show too much Blush
Finally, I really need to be able to get them online, as I very rarely get to the 'proper' shops, and I need them to be quite, um, inexpensive..! Anyone have any ideas.

More I like the skirt ! Wish I had the legs and the derrière for it !

Stokey · 24/01/2015 15:14

I got a great Muubaa biker jacket in the sales last year Fooogle. Its amazingly soft, I definitely recommend the brand.

Welcome Roots. Someone mentioned a pine green vest from H&M on here the other day. Primark are good for long basic vests too and cheap as chips. I got carmine, white and black ones from there.

Hi Stokey. I've had a look on H&M but they haven't got many in stock and no pine green that I can see Sad I wonder if they are only instore, which I can't do.

I have the same problem with Primark, We have none around here so I have no hope of getting to one.
Gah, love living in the middle of nowhere, until it's time to shop!

fooogle · 24/01/2015 18:32

roots I bought these vest yesterday inc pine green and they were 3.99. You may be right about not all colours being online? Sad, they are vv long though (I'm 5'11'' )
Will try muubaa thanks stokey, did you try before you bought? I seem to be ordering a lot of £200 items online and sending back Hmm

rootsradicals · 24/01/2015 20:51

They look lovely Foogle, I just wish they'd have the same selection online.
I did find this at tesco, does it look like a sultry winter burgundy? [[http://www.clothingattesco.com/f+f/f+f-scoop-neck-vest/invt/jf510030[[ it's a bit dull and short though. I'm wondering whether to just get a grey, black and white one for now and see what comes up closer to summer.

rootsradicals · 24/01/2015 20:52

Oh dear, that wasn't very successful..! www.clothingattesco.com/f+f/f+f-scoop-neck-vest/invt/jf510030

QueenCardigan · 24/01/2015 20:57

Welcome root. Keep an eye on riverisland. I've got navy, white, grey and ice blue from last year. They seem to update their colours fairly regularly. Otherwise people seem to swear by hush and baukjen but I think they're more ££.

rootsradicals · 24/01/2015 21:45

Oh yes, thanks Queen, I hadn't thought of River Island. I'll also look at the others but just their names made my eyes water a little, not sure I'll be able to afford anything there!

fooogle · 25/01/2015 08:01

Maybe newlook too roots but not sure how quality d be.
stokey what kind if shape is your biker? Is it a foldy collar thing or like a mandarin/collarless one? Does anyone know what style bikers are?! Don't know what suits, or will have longest life though by the time I get one they may have gone out of fashion! Grin
