Like the jeans Queen and the top. Glad you feel more confident in your colours again.

I've just made an order via Me + Em - cursed promotion emails
Bought a biker jacket biker kind of just to try as I am always on the hunt. Still v expensive in my eyes but big reduction justifies
snood
jumper
Probably hopefully for my funds it shall all go back.
Do any of you folks have a spending ban thing going on or MrPop are you still doing a capsule wardrobe? Sometimes I feel I am a little dangerous shopping wise and looking at my very full wardrobe (admittedly mostly charity shopped) I wonder where on earth it will all go if we move into our new house for which I should be saving and how I can actually wear it all... Hmm

NeitherHereOrThere · 20/01/2015 12:10

That's a great idea Queen re taking selfies. Like the jeans - how light/dark are these?

Foogle, I am on a self imposed spending ban - there is nothing I need so I cannot justify any more expenditure. That jumper is fantastic value and a fab winter navy - I love wearing cashmere/merino knitwear, well worth the extra care these require. The biker jacket also also a bargain, the leather looks beautiful and its a timeless wardrobe classic.

didireallysaythat · 20/01/2015 16:43

Queen I too like the selfie idea. I was visiting a site today which necessitated a photo I'd. My scarf and lipstick matched each other and I didn't look as ill as I usually do on these things (if I ever look like my passport photo, I'm not in a fit state to fly..). I feel quite positive now !

MrPop · 20/01/2015 17:03

See, when I see a photo of me when wearing lipstick I think it looks odd. I think I am a fairly typical winter though.

I think I just look a bit like a child who has smeared their mum's lipstick on!

Nice top Queen

Fooogle I am not doing the capsule wardrobe anymore (it is for 3 months) but while I thought I would be excited to 'rediscover' my wardrobe, actually I haven't been that bothered and have been wearing the items from project 333 anyway. Planning to do it again over the summer as my summer clothes are much less.

I love your me and em picks - especially the cobalt snood. Great colour and bargain. I really like me and em, and they have good sales.

I am thinking of doing a 100 day no spend but I am so rubbish at that sort of thing. Hats off to you Neither

NeitherHereOrThere · 20/01/2015 17:55

Its easy when you already have a decent wardrobe full of winter coloured clothes - I was diagnosed several years ago unlike many on this thread...

fooogle · 20/01/2015 19:37

Thanks folks for your thoughts. Parcel despatched so will see how we go. Will be I trouble if I want to keep all of the me and em things. Just sent whole asos order back thank goodness!
Have a uniqlo mens merino crew neck in 67 (I think) which is near lobelia and royal blue. Nice and cosy.
neither I hope I ll know when to stop! I cleared out a few things today to ebay and charity. I have def got too much stuff but it's the 'bargains' I just am rubbish at avoiding.
mrpop what did you whittle things down to then in project 333?

QueenCardigan · 20/01/2015 21:02

neither the jeans are fairly dark but I'm hoping that they'll still look good when washed unlike proper black jeans which never stay true black for long.

I was trying not to spend much until march when I go to London for the day but I fell in love instantly with both tops that I bought and the jeans will be a great addition to my existing clothes. I feel that I pretty much have the backbones of a decent wardrobe and don't need anything as such so this year I will buy things that I love and give my wardrobe some wow factor. I do try and make considered purchases though. Whilst trying on those two tops I also tried on a third which I loved but I just couldn't picture when I would wear it so decided against it.

The selfie thing has been fab. Today I found some stone trousers and khaki tee of dh which make me look yellow as well as a coral tee of dd which also makes me look sallow. Some of dh other clothes are summer colours and whilst they don't make me look yellow they don't do a huge amount for me. It's been really good actually as a reminder of the colours day. Wouldn't it be great to have the colours day recorded and just go back and watch it if feeling doubtful.

QueenCardigan · 20/01/2015 21:03

Oh, forgot to say foogle I adore that cobalt snood and am seriously tempted!

fooogle · 20/01/2015 21:58

Well queen it is a good price for cashmere Grin. Shall I tell you if it's actually any good? Due thurs...

If like some blacky grey jeans. Haven't found any yet (am terrible for buying loads of charity shop jeans then just wearing the one pair (currently zara skinnies).. Uniqlo ones, found some j crew matchstick ones once, gap ones must stop )

fooogle · 20/01/2015 22:01

umm and these boots]

didireallysaythat · 21/01/2015 11:34

Would you ever buy something in a ** colour even if you absolutely hated the colour ?

I'm still struggling with mine ! I'm defaulting back to black and denim - which is fine, isn't it ? (With lipstick of course !)

fooogle · 21/01/2015 11:40

Didi I find it hard to go for a couple of my ** colours - fuchsia and that ilk as I feel a bit too 'ta da' in the them but understand I may be missing a trick!
Black and denim is classic Grin
Today I have my uniqlo crew merino in 67 on with a charcoal jaegar pencil skirt, black 120 denier tights and black ankle boots oh and red lippe. I am a bit chilly!
Having lots of house buying stress here. arghhhhhhhhhhhh!

NeitherHereOrThere · 21/01/2015 11:47

I know that Queen does not feel right in red and I am not too keen on hot pink/fuchsia although I don't mind using it as a pop of colour...its to do with our style/personalities apparently - to me, pink is ying and red is yang.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 21/01/2015 11:49

I always think how lucky we winters are to look good in black. Never take it for granted. For us, wearing black won't look boring or make us washed out, we will look good in it. So don't worry about that.

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 11:56

did black and denim is fine. What are your * colours that you hate? Could you add them in as a belt/bag? As neither* says I'm not keen on red. I like the colour but just not on me. I do struggle a bit with emerald too. I feel much more comfortable in blues and purples with splashes of pink or green.

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 11:57

Obviously that wasn't all meant to become bold!

Stokey · 21/01/2015 12:17

I've always been very anti-pink, although love red, but thought I would try didI, and actually I've found myself wearing my magenta Hush jumper nearly every day. It just really lifts a pair of black or denim jeans and does make me look more alive. It has surprised me, I'm even thinking of getting a long-sleeved t in the same colour for when the weather warms up. Then again, I've always liked bright colours so maybe it was easier for me.

I'm wearing denim jeans today, a Uniqlo heatech black polo and a purple cashmere v neck (which was given to me as a Christmas present in 2007 and has been sitting in my cupboard for about three years).

MrPop · 21/01/2015 12:31

Yes, black, grey and navy are great neutrals to have.

Fooogle - I just roughly split the 33 items into 15 tops, 10 bottoms, 5 pairs of shoes and 3 coats.

I chose things I didn't wear much rather than old favourites. I also didn't add accessories / jewellery / bags which I think you are supposed to do as a purist!

It is also easier in summer as you don't have to factor in extra layers.

You are 'allowed' to swap items in and out, which I did a bit as shoes I could wear in October didn't cut it in Dec, same with some coats.

I think I will do it again June - August as I like the way it simplifies things.

I like those boots too!

didireallysaythat · 21/01/2015 12:52

My 100%** are royal blue (OK), lobelia (hate), fushia (OK), carmine (this brown red - dried blood red colour right ? - don't like ), ice hyacinth (insipid - don't like!)
My 75%** are light grey (mmm not keen), royal purple (hate), navy (OK), mole (not bothered), raspberry (like), dark emerald (hate), ice lavender (not bothered, wouldn't bother)
50%** are black (phew), indigo (no), magenta (not overly keen), damson (OK as long as not too purple!), scarlet (no - got a scarlet jumper recently - looks awful I think), dark emerald (hate), ice blue (insipid).

I'm synaesthetic I think (associate pitch with colour) so some colours are horrible for me (orange - hate hate hate !!!).

Someone on here suggested I'm a jewel winter which may be consistent with not liking the pale colours perhaps ??

NeitherHereOrThere · 21/01/2015 12:58

didI - which colours in your palette that isn't a neutral that you do actually like?

didireallysaythat · 21/01/2015 13:17

Neither colours I like - royal blue, fushia, raspberry... Er . I like primary green (but it's not ours, is it?). I like pale pastel pink on me (top only). Gosh. I'm quite narrow in what I like which is probably I've been flipping this and trying to find colours I don't hate.

fooogle · 21/01/2015 13:43

didi, maybe its trickier for you if you have synaesthesia with colours as that's some strong opinions on colours - interested indigo is a no and navy ok. I thought Carmine was more a red, not that weird chocolaty one we were talking about last week? Are you debating whether to wear some anyway despite your dislike of them Didi?

Mr Pop I'll let you know on the boots!
Sometimes I think I am kind of just wearing a certain few things anyway so a capsule'd be good but others I try to use more of more wardrobe and then think I couldn't manage it.
I'm not doing very well with accessorizing at the mo apart from a necessary warm scarf! anyone else doing better?

NeitherHereOrThere · 21/01/2015 14:21

DidI - royal blue, fushia and raspberry all sound good. What about light emerald which is close to primary green? Have you started wearing these colours yet? Ice pink could be a good colour if you fancy wearing pale pink.

Agree that carmine is a red rather than burgundy - or Marsala (the brown we were talking about last week).

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 14:56

did what colours were you wearing before your winter diagnosis? Don't wear stuff if you hate it but maybe just add in some royal blue, raspberry and fuschia and ice pink to your wardrobe.

QueenCardigan · 21/01/2015 14:57

And yes, I like carmine. Not as full on as scarlet. But I still don't like it in me despite owning a beautiful carmine sequinned cardi.
