Stokey I did get carmine but it went really pink on. Is this a thing red lippies do??

QueenCardigan · 13/01/2015 12:26

clarks have got pale yellow shoes in this season. I haven't seen them irl but they may be a match for ice lemon? Could be quite nice as something different.

fooogle · 13/01/2015 19:22

Mrpop and stokey, I think often reds go pink...not sure if it's cheap ones or something but I guess they are either pink based reds or orange based or purple based. I def find lots of mine wear off to a pink?
Still liking my kryolan one and ordered a palette with others in.
Today I'm in white heat tech ls top, grey mArl cashmere v neck and black wideleg oxford bag trousers..., quite cosy!

ItIsntJustAPhase · 14/01/2015 14:51

Hello fellow winters! Fell off these threads for a while but keen to come back on.

Will read and catch up.

shadesofwinter · 15/01/2015 14:49

Hi winters - have been lurking for a bit but hopefully have a bit more time now to join in properly.

I'm another jewel winter, diagnosed last April and excitedly looking forward to my style day at the end of this month. Have been trying to hold onto my Christmas money till then, although caved last week and bought some bits in the Baukjen sale (all of which is sadly going back as the sizing is bizzare).

I'm enjoying reading all the lipstick recommendations - that was the thing I struggled with most as I NEVER wore lippy before my colour analysis. I have a HoC one (maybe burgundy?) that I wear over a bit of Vaseline and I love the colour and can finally see that itreally lifts me.

Anyway, off for the school run shortly so will catch up later Smile

NeitherHereOrThere · 15/01/2015 16:35

To the poster who asked about identifying gaps in wardrobe, I came across this blog/article earlier which may help?

Also came across a review for Rimmel rush balm which sounds promising - has anyone tried these? I have their moisture rich lipstick in sloane's plum which is a blue based plum/purple - but has a slight hint of shimmer which annoys me but still good for evening use.

fooogle · 16/01/2015 02:02

Hi shadesof and itisn't!
My kryolan (not getting commission or anything!) lip palette came today. Totally loving one shade (think it's lc0010 or poss lc009), really lovely red pink, kind of as if you've eaten cherry brandy ice lollies?! Comes with few others (5 total) and brush.
Not much else to report, black dip hem peplum top with silver beaded shoulders from charity...not sure if peplums are on way out?! Grin

shadesofwinter · 16/01/2015 19:08

I've never quite got on with peplums, not sure why. Love them on other people though. I'm really hoping that my style day at the end of this month will give me some inspiration to try some clothes other than the uniform of jeans/jumper/boots that I'm stuck in at the moment.

I bought my first Revlon lip butter today, in Sorbet (think it's a new one?). Really like it, it's similar to my default HoC lipstick but slightly less full on.

QueenCardigan · 16/01/2015 20:19

I was ready to buy hoc number 50 despite vowing not to buy another lipstick this year but when did they go up to £17 Shock. I'm sure I only paid £10 before. I don't really want to pay that for a lipstick.

QueenCardigan · 16/01/2015 21:06

this skirt looks good for winters....

NowhereNow · 16/01/2015 22:06

Queen, AFAIK you get about a third off the price when you enter your client code, so it would be about £12 ish for a lipstick.

I love that Jigsaw skirt you linked to!

fooogle · 16/01/2015 22:11

Wow, 17£! I am not utterly convinced they're the best lippies in the world from hoc. More boots own level than bobbi brown prices...

That's a nice skirt queen. I like a print like that, kind of retro?

Today I'm in mid grey cashmere jumper, washed black denim shirt and blue skinnies. Blooming chilly so not feeling as warm as I'd hope.

didireallysaythat · 16/01/2015 23:25

Caught myself in the mirror in my navy fleece and navy trousers. Rather masculine. Didn't look good. Is this my 'ah ha' moment when I get a natural romantic thing ?

I'm not sure about the skirt queen but I think that's probably more because of the style than the print. I'd probably buy 10 hoc lipsticks/glosses instead as I'm still looking for that perfect one...

AsBrightAsAJewel · 16/01/2015 23:27

You will get 30% off the lipstick if you use your consultant code. What I do like about them is at least I know I'm picking the correct shade, but I don't think they have the same staying power as some other makes. Plus there is less chance of making a mistake, I'm really not confident with stronger or brighter lipsticks.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 16/01/2015 23:32

I like that skirt Queen, but the print is too big for me. I've cleared out lots of things that have big floral or abstract prints as I need small geometric or ditsy prints. I sent my favourite pencil cord skirt to charity last year, and I still miss it.

QueenCardigan · 17/01/2015 08:16

I forgot about the discount code so that makes the price more bearable. I'll think on it as it seems a shame to break my New Years resolution 17 days in!

I'm not buying the jigsaw skirt, it's far too grown up/dramatic for me but I just totally love the colours. There's a reddish one too and also a top in the blue/green.

Gap has 30% off today so I've ordered these jeans. I've wanted grey jeans for ages but they're usually too pale for my liking so hoping that these will be good.

SorrelForbes · 17/01/2015 08:48

Nice skirt and jeans Queen.

My bargain Frame jeans from Matches have already given up the ghost. They've worn through on the thigh seam. I do have chunky thighs, especially in relation to the rest of me but honestly, 4 months wear? Good I bought those Jigsaw ones Grin

Stokey · 17/01/2015 09:18

I love that skirt QueenC but have banned myself buying more pencil skirts after going a bit OTT last year.

I now have a yen for green leather leggings after seeing Katherine Ryan in some lovely ones on Room 101 last night. In fact her whole outfit rocked a winter look.

My Hoc consultant sent me this link about Marsala, a colour of the year that she recommends for winters - she is the one quoted in the article. It looks rather brown but could be interesting for trousers?

She's also offering a free skincare and makeover session with 10% of make-up in February. Has anyone ever done something like that? Or anyone in London area who is interested?

QueenCardigan · 17/01/2015 11:47

stokey Im still not convinced by Marsala being a winter colour. I'm not personally keen on it though so maybe that's clouding my judgement somewhat but it still seems to me more autumnal. Wrt to skin care, haven't hoc just launched a new skincare range where they should be investing in coming up with a funky new website

SorrelForbes · 17/01/2015 12:34

Not keen on Marsala either, it looks dark brown to me!

I spotted this in the Pepperberry catalogue. It says Cobalt blue but I'm not sure if it's bright enough. It looks brighter in the catlogue than on-line.

I also had a browse through the Wrap catalogue this week. Most of the stuff is too casual for me but I thought these were good, colour wise:

Fleur trousers in steel grey and black

Fiona Sweater. I thought the Frosted lilac looked a bit 'icey'?

Francesca jacket in iced grey and black

Anabells Dress. This could be a good summer holiday dress for me but I think the cobalt might be too muted.

Beattie Trousers in cobalt. Again, could be good for holiday time.

Why is it all so bloody expensive though? Any one got a code? Grin

ItIsntJustAPhase · 17/01/2015 13:51

A friend of mine is definitely a winter and sometimes wears a very very dark brown which works well. But marsala looks more like a chestnut colour to me.

NeitherHereOrThere · 17/01/2015 15:08

I was a bit hmm about Marsala but when I put my damson jumper next to it, I can see it could work for some winters. Personally, I would wear burgundy, damson, black and charcoal with it as it does not look right with jewel colours...

QueenCardigan · 17/01/2015 15:42

I looked at wrap the other day too sorrell as saw it recommended for naturals somewhere. I also found it too expensive for me.

SorrelForbes · 17/01/2015 16:16

Queen In my head you look and dress like one of the models from Wrap Grin

QueenCardigan · 17/01/2015 16:29

That's fine sorrel, carry on believing that Wink Grin
