MrPop I find Russian red a bit to.red red and not enough blue red for me if you understand what I mean (I guess RGB isn't going to catch on...) My pre Xmas trips through airports uncovered a less primary colour one for me but I've mislaid it already... I found a Revlon chubby lip pencil last week that's still in your face red but not post box red. In the long life range - I'll find the name in a mo.

May venture out to the shops this morning for the first time this year - school shoes calling but my boots are starting to look a little sad so here's hoping Clark's have something in my size. They'll have to be perfect though as the car needs a mot, service, tyres and tax !

AsBrightAsAJewel · 11/01/2015 10:54

Can I ask which Hoc lipsticks you were all recommended on your colour day? Mine were
499 - deep red
512 - burgundy
I try to use the burgundy for everyday wear as I still find the red too much for daytime at school (although I can see it looks better when I'm wearing certain colour tops). I do wear the red on the odd occasion that I'm going out.
I'm a pale skinned blonde (greying) jewel winter.

My recommended list pick was the fascia one, can't remember the number (92?) and a burgundy one. Haven't got my my card with me!

QueenCardigan · 11/01/2015 11:05

I was recommended fuuschia (62) which is my favourite and I wear when going out. Soft burgundy which I didn't buy and red (499) which I never wear. Red is too dramatic for me.

NeitherHereOrThere · 11/01/2015 11:24

Prohibition is more of a pinky red on me.

I love a good red and I am looking for an everyday one that is long lasting and not too matt or glossy...

MrPop · 11/01/2015 11:58

Think I need a bluey red - any recommendations?

The true reds just seem a bit too warm for me.

I bought 2 other HOC lipsticks - a red, which turned pink on me, and a fuschia colour which I gave to a friend as it was a bit too bright. Can't remember the numbers though.

MrPop · 11/01/2015 12:00

Oh just had a look, it was :
54 - Damson (guess this was the bright pink one??)
27 - carmine (the red that turned pink)

Didn't go through eyeshadows but in the book, charcoal, dark blue and lilac / purples seem to be recommended.

I was looking at a Winter Makeup pin board & there was a Burt's Bees lipbalm recommended (red dahlia), MrPop

Here's the board: www.pinterest.com/j9loveslace/make-up-winter/

SorrelForbes · 11/01/2015 15:05

I'm loving my Besame 1935 Red Cherry lipstick. Estee Lauder Red Ego is excellent too.

SorrelForbes · 11/01/2015 15:07

The Lime Crime Velvetines lipstick in Red Velvet is a true red. Stays on for ever too and is very matte.

Sorrel where did you get the besame cherry red from? It looks gorgeous.

didireallysaythat · 11/01/2015 22:18

The eye shadows I was shown were baby pink, grey and navy which I passed up on. I only tried one lip colour - the gloss 73.

The Revlon colorburst balm stain stick that's okish for me is 005 crush begun. It does last nicely. The Burt's bee lip balm in red dahlia is really easy to wear.

SorrelForbes · 11/01/2015 22:57

There is a European Besame site. Delivery was very quick. I'm going to try the Red Velvet shade when it comes back in stock. In the meantime I'm tempted by their crimson cream rouge.

The lipstick is a bit dry in the tube but goes on well with a brush or finger for a light er touch. Amazing staying power.

Oops, phone malfunction...

NeitherHereOrThere · 12/01/2015 07:41

Thanks Sorrel

fooogle · 12/01/2015 10:42

Mr Pop I find red really tricky, despite wearing it often as I like the idea of it as a classic and also kind of quirky colour...

Russian Red, I like though its not perfect.
Prohibition is def pinky for me.
Sorrel, I fancy that Cherry Red lippy too though would you say it pulls pink? I also like the noir shade but maybe too dark...
Kryolan I've got LC008 which I think is prob on the yellow toned side but I think I like the depth of the colour, its not too primary... Debating more. Eeeeeek must stop

Ordered some ASOS stuff I am waiting on inc. coat
boots
shirt
dress
Prob' will all go back (partly as I shouldn't be spending). No idea what my style type is but fear the cocoon coat will be hard to pull off!

Stokey · 12/01/2015 11:02

I was recommended 62 -deep fuschia (which I bought), 27 Carmine and 512 -burgundy.

Did you buy the Carmine MrPop? It looks quite tomatoey in the picture. My favourite red is still Chanel Rouge Allure 14, a less matte version of Ruby Woo.
The Prohibtion one comes out quite pink on me too.

Looking at my book, I definitely need to focus on increasing the purples and greens in my wardrobe. The purples (7,8,12,20) and pine green are all double stars for me and I have very little in my wardrobe. In fact I may copy Nowhere and start with the H&M vest.

And I've just realised that the jumper i thought was fuschia is in fact magenta... so if anyone is buying anything form Hush, their beetroot is an excellent match for number 16 Magenta.

Stokey · 12/01/2015 11:08

I think you'd have to be Dramatic to pull of that coat Fooogle but you're tall IIRC so may be able to do it! Your last link goes to the main page.

fooogle · 12/01/2015 11:16

dress think was just swayed by the reduction This looks like it may be a bit orangey?

Am 5'11'' so possibly can pull it off in height but worried it is waist-less...!
I like H and M vests Stokey and wear them everyday under stuff am bit lacking in circulation I think and feel the cold!
Saw some lovely Hush Pj's but was too stingy to buy them unless they have gone down some more in the sale!

SorrelForbes · 12/01/2015 16:46

fooogle perhaps the tiniest bit of pink but definitely not as much as Collection 2000 Prohibition. It's a very vintage matte red. I wore it again today and it really is lovely. Two coats really helps intensify the redness.

QueenCardigan · 12/01/2015 17:31

stokey I find pine green really hard to find. i love it too as I find emerald a bit too full on.

Prohibition is pinky on me too. When I was looking for reds initially I found rimmel red diva good.

fooogle · 12/01/2015 19:34

This lippy chat is making me feel embarrassed as to just how many I have many of which just don't do it for me quite
I've been wearing a pine green jumper today and black widelegs. My kryolan lipstick is still nice though I worry about yellow tones...my solution seems to be just stalking more to buy!

mimiasovitch · 12/01/2015 21:29

Those were my lipsticks too Stokey. I only really wear the burgundy one if I'm honest, but I do think the 3 choices are very valuable in one particular respect for me. If I'm unsure about a colour, I think which lipstick I'd wear with it. If none of them would be right, then it's not a winter colour.

I too am desperately seeking pine green. I bought 3 metres of fabric online thinking it would be right, and its unfortunately a bit too blue. I'm off to New York this weekend, and will be hitting the garment district for some decent fabric choice. Once I've bored my dh senseless, I'll be treating him to a visit to Sephora. Anything I should be most interested in?
