Try ebay for scarves - there are loads of plain ones for a couple of pounds.

didireallysaythat · 22/12/2014 21:21

I'd second eBay. I bought several electric blue and fushia ones to offset my black from neck to toe look. Along with a watch, nail varnish if not working and lipstick (laudy knows what shade though!) it helps me look a little less like an extra from the walking dead. You need to decide on how you're going to tie the scarf first though I find, as a £1 eBay scarf isn't always big enough in both directions to be worn in more than one way if you see what I mean.

fooogle · 22/12/2014 22:24

didi do you do special scarf tying? I have a few silk ones but feel a bit old lady silly as used to wear them and feel vintage quirky!
Never quite sure what cool tying looks like!
Today, skinny jeans, uniqlo patterned black heattech top and royal purple merino v cardi...

didireallysaythat · 22/12/2014 22:46

YouTube is your friend when it comes to tying scarves, but I admit that I always feel like an air hostess with short ones (so I try and avoid!). I toyed with the idea of a scarf pin (silver of course) but couldn't find one that didn't remind me of lord of the rings....

QueenCardigan · 23/12/2014 09:08

foogle is this tutorial any good?

didireallysaythat · 23/12/2014 13:32

Queen I like the scarves.

This is the I was thinking of - sorry about the big advert at the beginning now...

fooogle · 23/12/2014 13:33

Thank you scarf officinados, maybe I just have to get over my thing... Sometimes I just feel Unmodern somehow.
New lippy... Glam plum Fulham rimmel. Think was on a blog that one of you linked. Darkish, looks nice I think though feels a bit dry funny as is moisture renew one!

MrPop · 23/12/2014 15:15

Fooogle I have this cuff - adds some colour, and sneaks a forbidden colour in, living dangerously Grin

I think you are right to dress down your sequin blazer, makes it more current.

I'm also not a scarf person, I just like them for warmth in winter.

I have seen some bright necklaces in the topshop sale which might work too.

Or as people have said, nails and lippy.

Has anyone got the 'sorbet' lip butter? I am not sure about it, I think it may just be a summer lippy with a tan?

NowhereNow · 23/12/2014 23:56

I just noticed that lots of Kettlewell styles are now half price so I've bought a few things to try. It's not listed, but if you click through the styles you can see the new prices. Lots of the merino knitwear is on offer.

BearPear · 24/12/2014 12:07

I just thought I would share with you my delight in winning a brand new green Boden cardigan on EBay for £13 earlier this week. It arrived today (well in advance of the sellers estimate) and it is beautiful! I've never owned anything by Boden before, but if this is the quality I may have to investigate! The colour is a perfect jewel shade which I'm finding really suits me.
Merry Christmas everyone - here's to a cool, clear, JEWEL 2015 Smile

JuneFromBethesda · 24/12/2014 21:19

Well done BearPear! I'm not a big fan of Boden as the marketing infuriates me and the clothes don't seem to suit me BUT I do have a purple Boden cardigan which is a great splash of colour and incredibly useful - I keep trawling the Boden website (and Ebay!) hoping to find it in another colour.

I've not posted much on here due to the fact that I have NO MONEY to spend on new clothes sob but I did see some great basic long sleeves tees in Oasis the other day - caught my eye because one of the colours is the perfect forest green which I find hard to track down. I'd like to get the green, white and grey - trying to be grown-up and build a capsule wardrobe Grin - so hoping they might be reduced a little in the sales ...?

Merry Christmas all Smile

SorrelForbes · 25/12/2014 13:06

Merry Christmas Winters.

My outfit today consists of a black sequin knee length skirt and a purple cashmere jumper. I am on my fifth glass of fizz, hic Xmas Grin

AsBrightAsAJewel · 25/12/2014 14:20

Sounds stunning SorrelForbes - I'm still in my scruffs in the kitchen. Hope to find time to change into a bright red dress before I serve dinner.

Happy Christmas all!

Silver black jacquard skirt, black denim shirt, silver belt, black tights, russian red lippy... Happy Christmas winter folk x

didireallysaythat · 25/12/2014 22:22

Black white company dress, forgot the electric blue scarf I meant to wear, slightly too pink lipstick, black tights and for the afternoon walk navy wellies and navy didrikson. I suspect not as stylish as most on here but I think I might be becoming comfortable in colours. As long as 50% is black !!!

NowhereNow · 25/12/2014 22:44

I wasn't very stylish or dressed up. Black slim jeans, royal blue vest under a berry red twist top and a long grey cardi over the top when I got a bit chilly!

SorrelForbes · 26/12/2014 10:41

I changed into yoga pants and a t-shirt after lunch!

SorrelForbes · 26/12/2014 10:51

Did anyone get any Winter appropriate presents? I had a black Osprey purse from my DSiL, a blue clutch (with silver hardware) which a pretty good match for swatch 10 and some maroon wool gloves both from one of my closest friends. The gloves aren't a match for any of our swatches but the colour is fairly cool and I think they'll look great with my black full length wool coat so I'm very happy.

QueenCardigan · 26/12/2014 19:47

Merry Christmas winters. Yesterday I wore black trousers and the blue HOF blouse that was linked a while ago.

I got some silver earrings, a white fat face tee, two pairs of pjs and a onesie. Unfortunately one pair of pjs are pink (think warm salmon type pink) but bless dh, he bought them as he said that I've started wearing pink since having my colours done. He obviously needs educating in the difference between fuschia and salmon Xmas Grin. He chose the onesie (cream) knowing that it wasn't one of my colours but he couldn't fnd one as super snugly in a colour I'd like. I love it though and dd keeps stroking me when I wear it!

NeitherHereOrThere · 26/12/2014 21:07

Hope you all had a good Christmas Grin

Christmas outfit - above knee red wool skirt, black cowl top (bought from Phase Eight a year or two ago - think they still do these) with a sparkly cuff in black/navy/white. Found a pair of black/charcoal leopard print opaque tights at back of drawers so wore these as well.

Today its navy cable jumper, indigo jeans and damson scarf.

fooogle · 26/12/2014 21:10

That sounds super cosy queen. I had some navy pjs which are nice and a pot of violet ink eyeliner (bobbi brown), and a slightly crazy vintage mohair fluffy cardi which actually is grey, fuschia, black and a cool teal and cream in blocks. Think I am just about pulling it off but may see photos that say different at some point! Wearing skinny jeans and a black denim topshop shirt with it.

Hello all winters and welcome to MoreSnow

Some glamorous Xmas day outfits. Mine was pretty casual: black cords, a Primark Xmas jumper (I went for a tasteful one though!) and glitter flats.

MoreSnow Ash jalouse or spiral are pretty good for wearing with skirts too - they have a block heel of about 2 cm. Don't think they will keep you warm though - fleece lined tights?

What are you looking for, coatwise?

Anyone shopping in the sales? I am still after a chinese blue top (Boden jumper was totally the wrong shade) and think I will get one from Kettlewell. I would also still like some burgundy shoes of some description.

And NY resolution wise, I want to start wearing my lipsticks again!

NeitherHereOrThere · 28/12/2014 18:00

M&S have burgundy shoes...was there today returning unwanted gifts and had a quick browse.

On a self imposed spending ban again...good job there is nothing I need or want.
