Coincidentally, this is DD1 looking at her Paultons Park map that is getting worn due to much intent reading and excited pointed. Shade and BYO food and paddle pools all sound good, actually. The DDs would be so thrilled, too.

and if you go soon buy an annual pass - is quite a bargain.

Brillenbar · 06/07/2014 20:02

Just made the mistake of looking at the j crew sale website. The no 2 cotton pencil skirt in both the black and the white is now in the sale and with Belinda's thankme 20pc off code they are now a mere 50 odd quid each. Not as cheap as would be in the states but it is one of the best pencil skirts IMO. Also pale grey tippi is 41 so just over 30 quid with the code.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 06/07/2014 20:28

I loved the cut of those J Crew no 2 pencil skirts, Brillenbar and they finish at the bottom of my knee - just where I like them to. I have 2 Tippis - black and navy. The grey would be v useful, but I am only doing Essential Purchases this month. Although I wonder if I should be buying SX rather than S in the Tippi?

Brillenbar · 06/07/2014 20:46

I'd count the grey tippi as Essential Purchase. I wear mine a lot. Sizing yes I'd size down.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/07/2014 20:52

Speaking of bikers, this is lovely.

GretchenWiener · 06/07/2014 21:13

but the tippi is just a jumper?
i got and ebayed the boden copy last winter

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 06/07/2014 21:25

Yes, the Tippi is just a jumper. But the knit is fine and durable and it's a good, high ish round neck (not scoop, like some eg Uniqlo) and the cut is not tight around my middle. It's not the perfect shape for me, but I was surprised by how often I wore my Tippis when it's cool (not freezing cold, unless have long sleeve Heattech under it, as it's 3/4 sleeve).

What was wrong with the Boden version?

GretchenWiener · 06/07/2014 21:39

is it titty?

GretchenWiener · 06/07/2014 21:40

well tbh mainly the colour ( the shocking pink - fine with a tan in August , not so good in Feb, I always felt it clashed with me)
But also so fine knit I felt like babs windsor

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 06/07/2014 21:44

I can't think of a single good thing to day about Barbara Windsor's style, and even less about that pic!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 06/07/2014 21:46

It's not a tight knit, Laura Fantacci of WIT wears them, and she is more bosomy than me. I like shocking pink, but I think it looks better on others than me. I had a shocking pink shirt, now passed on, and it wasn't my best colour.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 06/07/2014 21:51

Just did a Google image search on the Tippi to see people wearing it. It's also narrow on the arms, so you don't look chunky, and the straight cut avoids that Babs Windsor / pinup problem.

GretchenWiener · 06/07/2014 21:54

i would have to try on in larnon I think.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/07/2014 13:13

Remus - what a nice biker! Snugly like a cardi, stylish like a jacket

Who found the nude / taupe Autograph flats? [peers over non-existent but v chic glasses] they are really nice. Going to do a capsule wardrobe post and they have to be in there. I saw the Massimo Dutti nude flats today, in the sale - not as nice IMO. I think the contrast trim let's them down.

GretchenWiener · 07/07/2014 16:54

i hate the very notion of a capsule wardrobe
all the fun sucked out of clothes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/07/2014 17:47

I like the idea of a capsule in the sense of having a few really good 'base' pieces - a brilliant black blazer, the perfect pencil skirt etc etc.

GretchenWiener · 07/07/2014 18:48

does off.. OH sorry what? yes pencil skirt

DOZES

i DOZED

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/07/2014 19:07

I think that's it, Remus - some people will operate out of a capsule wardrobe, whereas some other people (ie you and me) will just use such a grouping of clothes as a base of staples, and have lots of other clothes, too.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/07/2014 19:08

Gretchen - kitten photos?! Stella Creasy said she posts them on particularly heated threads / conversations. Is workwear so controversial and dramatic as that? [hopeful]

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/07/2014 19:10

Wake up, Gretchen, you miserable old sod. Wink I bet you have such items in your wardrobe - the bits and pieces that are the foundation of lots of outfits: black skinnies maybe, a denim jacket perhaps, a leather biker in my case (although obvs these examples are not workwear so don't belong on this thread!).

Exactly, Belinda.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/07/2014 19:34

Hi all, can anyone help me on the sizing of the J crew no.2 pencil skirt? Going on this old NAP link I should get a size 2 (my waist is 28in) - is the vanity sizing really that crazy?
And you say size down on the Tippis too?

Thanks for the 20% off code btw.

And I thought the Vogue thread was bad for my bank balance! (I ordered the Celitas too Blush)

GretchenWiener · 07/07/2014 20:09

sticks out tongue

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/07/2014 20:32

I take size 0 in the J Crew No 2 skirts and am a 8 - 10 (am a 10, but so many places have vanity sizing to some degree that I know own as many size 8's as 10's now, despite not changing size). See here theworkwearedit.com/trying-it-on-at-j-crew/
