Hello!

So pleased you liked the post, and found something you liked in it! The colours of those shirts are so pretty. I wanted to order the cast iron Gap silk cotton shirt, but spent all my budget on the DDs and a new dehumidifier as the last one broke and its essential for drying clothes IMO. Tragic. Anyhow, I did manage to order the M&S Autograph pointed toe flats in berry suede, so I'm hopeful that they work out well.

I need to go and try the Gap merino knits, especially as I have my eye on the cranberry, which is a hard shade to find. Uniqlo have the primary colours, but don't always have the more, umm, subtle / secondary colours.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/09/2014 12:15

I haven't tried that Kinsley heel, but its v popular - many sizes are sold out! I find their shoes to be v comfy. I didn't get the Office Darling d'orsays in the end as I am between sizes. Was quite disappointed as I really wanted the snakeskin ones.

Stokey · 09/09/2014 13:22

I've bought the Kinsley ones - they're a really good height.

The Office snakeskin Dorsays are still around and now a bargainious £30 if you are tempted.

maybemyrtle · 09/09/2014 13:30

Ah, I looked at those shirts at the weekend, but didn't buy because I'm between sizes. I was so excited about them - the colours are lovely! Also like you Belinda I was between sizes of the Office Darling Dorsays. I'm an inbetweeny :)

I tried on the Ultra Skinnies again too, just in case, but they still don't do me any favours. The slim cropped you recommended a while back are serving me well though.

I'm considering this as it seems like a genius way of smartening up knitwear/dresses without adding bulk. Anyone tried/seem them or have any thoughts?

Brillenbar · 09/09/2014 13:34

Hello all, properly back to school now ...

I have a new jacket which I'm really pleased with, an autumn / winter version of the white zara jacket which I bought at the beginning of the summer and has been a revelation, as it goes with pretty much anything. It is this www.johnlewis.com/mango-textured-cotton-blazer-natural-white/p1656076 all cotton, nice and neat fitting, and warmer than the zara one because the cotton is quite thick.

libertychick · 09/09/2014 14:18

Belinda I have the pointed toe Autograph shoes in berry suede as well. Love them! Have had nice comments every time I wear them.

Also I got one of those Gap silk/cotton shirts over the weekend with the 30% off code - really, really nice. I think I will get a second one. I have pale grey so probably the navy.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/09/2014 14:44

Is it childish to have wardrobe envy? Hmmm, maybe.

liberty - oh, can't wait to collect the shoes, then! And sounds like the silk /cotton shirts are a winner. Will wait for the next round of discount codes.

Brillenbar - I think we have similar taste - that Mango jacket looks really great. Would prob work w jeans, on the weekend, too.

myrtle - I think of myself as an apple, and my pear friends prefer the Gap slim cropped trousers, maybe you are more that shape? Either way, the Gap trousers are terrific value for money.

That Cos collar looks cute. Excellent idea. Although, scalloped collars aren't for me. That's just personal taste, obviously.

BTW I ordered an EcoAir DD122FW dehumidifier from Amazon for £150. So far, so very good. It seems much more powerful than my recently deceased Meaco one, as well as being quieter and more energy efficient.

maybemyrtle · 09/09/2014 14:53

Belinda, yes, spot on, I'm a pear :) Also I have that dehumidifier! It's so much better than our last one (a delonghi, so noisy and heavy). We got ours in January and it's been fab.

Cos do the mock shirt in round and standard collars too, but I'll have to see what they've actually got in stock tomorrow. Will report back.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/09/2014 18:05

Glad that the dehumidifier is a good one. Boring thing to buy, but it's a game changer for drying laundry inside (no laundry allowed outside as per our garden rules).

BillStickersIsInnocent · 13/09/2014 18:16

Bought the Oasis Polly trousers Remus linked to up thread - the fabric is lovely (98% cotton) and the print is great. They are pretty flattering too. Will wear with a black top and jacket or black sweater and heels. I think it needs to be a bit more wintry to wear though. Also might wear to a winter wedding.

So thanks Remus for linking!

Brillenbar · 14/09/2014 17:22

A while ago Belinda did a post on her blog comparing the j crew and uniqlo fine merino crew neck sweaters. I've just got this one from uniqlo www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/128912 in the pale blue ( it's a bit of a grey blue not a baby blue) and also have the grey tippi j crew. Uniqlo win hands down I think. I prefer the fit, neater round the middle, and it's twenty quid. I don't think there is any difference in the quality. I am new to uniqlo but so far am v v impressed. It's also good for small women who are finding themselves vanity sized out of some shops ( I'm looking at you hobbs, M&S, next ...)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 14/09/2014 20:15

I agree with you, Brillenbar, and am planning on getting a few. My Uniqlo merino has been always worn well. Ditto Gap merino, too. The J Crew Tippis that I have remain in excellent condition, but the cost is about 3 x the Uniqlo, so I'm buying those this season. Plus the Uniqlo camel cashmere, if that fits well. It's a pretty shade with variation within the colour, rather than a uniform block colour.

Brillenbar · 15/09/2014 03:19

Belinda have you looked at both the camel merino and camel cashmere uniqlo crew necks? If so which is better for blondes? Can be a difficult to wear I find. Thanks

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/09/2014 07:10

Yes, and I prefer the camel in cashmere, as the merino is a bit beige for me. However, I plan to go to Uniqlo today, and will take photos and confirm.

Stokey · 15/09/2014 10:19

Good to hear about the Uniqlo jumpers - I have a grey scoop neck cashmere one that lasted the winter pretty well. Remember never to buy full price from there as they always have regular discounts.

I'm looking for pointy flats that will be robust enough for winter. I love the Boden ones but the aubergine have gone in my size and the navy have a 7 week wait. Not sure if they're worth it, especially as after 7 weeks they may not even fit! Has anyone seen anything similar? I already have some Clarks brogues which I wear a lot.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 15/09/2014 13:46

Well... I tried the knits on in Gap, a Uniqlo and I was wearing my J Crew Tippi.

If you are blonde, the Uniqlo cashmere is better than the Uniqlo merino, but the Gap merino is also good.

If you are short of body, the Gap merino is a better fit than the Uniqlo merino. I bought a Uniqlo merino in fuchsia / purple as I loved the colour - Gap has more muted, neutral colours than Uniqlo. However, I will buy Gap merino when there is a code next, as it's £40, compared to Uniqlo's £20.

Will do a blog post w photos and more sensible text, soon.

stokey - do you like these? I'm thinking you need dark leather? www.stories.com/gb/Shoes/Flats/Pointy_Flats/582744-7979909.1

Stokey · 15/09/2014 18:55

Oh I do like those Belinda. I also really like their anaconda slipper ones but not quite as versatile for with!

Stokey · 15/09/2014 18:56

For work...

wiltingfast · 22/09/2014 13:48

ok, bought this from Karen Millen but nothing in my wardrobe is working with it .

Starched white shirt = look like a waitress
floppy chiffon blouse = too big can't see shape of skirt
tight white t shirt = too tight
yellow cos t shirt = ok but too light really for work

Suggestions? Am beginning to think I should bring it back and buy the black trousers I actually went shopping for...

also maybe I should buy this Mary Portas dress instead which is actually very elegant on but it is a bit green maybe?

wiltingfast · 22/09/2014 14:02

I like this but omg its 100% polyester which I hate... might be too much over it anyway?

Think this from COS is also a possibility but I would prefer a colour.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 22/09/2014 20:26

wilting that is a great skirt, can't you wear it with a knit, a bit like in the photo? Wouldn't the Gap / Uniqlo / J Crew merino round neck knits be good here? I really like that Cos top, it looks like an excellent basic. You could wear it w the skirt, too, couldn't you, and add a pop of (ha!) some colour via shoes, jacket and or bag?

wiltingfast · 22/09/2014 21:10

Ah belinda, I went bck to cos today to get it, last one in my size was damaged and it's end of line. Gah. Suppose I could get it online but there's a 9e charge I think and not sure I'm that keen.

Still cos v steady, probably have something suitable soon.

I don't really like wearing knits at work, a bit hot and scratchy, plus I'm a short arse and most of them would cover the nice detailing and shape.

Spotted this, more polyester but would allow me to wear my new skirt sooner rather than later! Floral number from my earlier post not there in my size, bloody marks.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 23/09/2014 22:05

Tried to reply last night and my post was lost.

Yes, Cos have lots of great stock coming through, so if not that top, you might find another similar one. Also, & Other Stories is worth keeping an eye on.

Re knits, merino can get sweaty. Although a cashmere / cotton knit shouldn't. Incidentally, the Gap merino is a better fit for short / short bodied ladies like me. See this pic - Gap size M merino. I just bought the cranberry, and returned the Uniqlo purple knit, as it's not quite as good on me as the Gap.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 23/09/2014 22:06

Err, obv I try and crop all that mess out, when I post such pics on the blog!

wiltingfast · 24/09/2014 23:30

That looks good B. Vsimple and chic. I always think of knits as fluffy/baggy. Hmm, will keep an open mind.

Just splurged on the lucie ocelot dress with the whistles discount grazia code too so a good week for me if not my credit card heh heh Grin

Anyonr else use it?
