Novice for a minute when I read pointing out the obvious I thought you were mad at me!

Gorgeous engagement ring amber. It reminds me a bit of the sapphire I linked to a couple of weeks ago. and which I showed DH in a not very suble attempt at hinting

DH proposed in the bar of a well known London hotel and we had dinner in the same hotel afterwards. Every time I walk past it reminds me of that special moment and when we were in London after Christmas last year we went and had a cocktail in that bar before going out to dinner.

A lovely couple (American tourists I think) saw that DH had proposed and had two glasses of chanpagne sent to our table which was such a lovely thing to do.

Champagne, sigh.

Ah, I love a good engagement story. Dh asked me at a very famous landmark in NYC. I was kind of hoping he would but it was still a surprise that he had the ring.

Have just been on a school trip to the beach. Wearing my usual jeans/blouse/bracelets/pink lippy but dd said I looked like I should be going to a party .

Just took our dog to the vets and she's lost 20% of her body weight and seems really poorly. Have had to leave her in for blood tests :(

Great ring amber. Reminds me that I would like a big coloured stone at some point, probably a tanzanite. Boodles do lovely deep blue ones.

I was proposed to in a car park. In dh's defence it was on the french riviera and did have one of the most beautiful views in the world. We had been for dinner at a beach restaurant earlier where he had been meaning to do it but chickened out as it was quite busy so he stopped the car on the way home instead. I had been a bit grumpy as we'd talked about next step etc and was beginning to think he was never going to do it so we had a laugh about that afterwards. Anyway the size of the rock compensated for his tardiness! Love your stories, particularly Marsha's Marrakech and Santa's ice pack!

Some lovely engagement stories and fab rings. Dh asked me in a restaurant called iirc Sweeny Todds, down on one knee and was very nervous. We were v hard up in those days so ring is a Samuels special and is now looking a bit dated. (1990). We did have the wedding bands made though.

Love the engagement tales. Here's mine:
Cold Friday night after hard day at work, DH suggests a walk to a local landmark. "Are you crazy? It's a blustery Friday night and I'm planning a bath and David Copperfield magic special!" I was proposed to while having a bath made for an interesting story at our wedding!
I love my ring, I it's v understated and small as I hate my sausage fingers. DH has bought me other more valuable rings that I wear on my right hand since, but I'll always love my rub over sapphire with little diamond either side the best

Dog is only 3 and a 1/2 Fedup so this is worrying :( She has a high white blood cell count and is being kept in overnight - more news in the morning.

My wedding band is just plain platinum but I also wear a diamond platinum eternity ring above my engagement ring. On my right hand I also have another eternity ring but it's white gold and from h samuel and I was never entirely happy with it so I basically kept asking nagging for another

I can't remember if I said but the NYC trip isn't happening - we took the cash instead and will go somewhere in Europe in October instead (easier with a 3yo).

Hello everyone :) thank you for all the comments, to you all for being so lovely. Yep definitely can't wait for some celebratory fizz on Saturday! Sadly I won't have the ring for another 2 and a half weeks but I can live vicariously through you all for now - love all the stories and ring talk.

My ring is a solitaire in yellow gold (including the setting) - we are waiting for the diamond to be delivered from Antwerp and then it has to be made. Dry I love art deco rings too, for me it was between a solitaire and a step cut design with 5 baguettes. But the jeweller man explained that that style needs big stones to look good and that wouldn't be within our budget. So I went for the sparkly option!

novice swoon at yours, my setting is basically a tribute copy of the Tiffany setting, I do love it.

All ring talk is such happy talk! Mara, I have a Tanzanite ring that I just adore. It's 6ct deep blue Tanzanite surrounded by just under 2ct of diamonds. I grin insanely all day and can't stop looking at my hand whenever I wear it :)

I love my ring single solitaire with tiny diamonds either side, we chose it together as I'm super fussy and wanted something slightly different. We bought it in Brighton so it's an antique and is quite unique. I would definitely choose the same ring again and have nightmares about losing it and never being able to replace it, I wear it all the time apart from bed and shower and I feel really lost if on the rare occasion I've left it at home. I just had a low key proposal, we had a chat about getting married and went and bought the ring.

No fashion news here, popped into TS to try Leigh tile print jeans and I need to get below 9 stone for them, so well done to those of you who have, that's my next goal, I need to stay away from and need to get back on my and start playing again

Like fedup my ring was a modest price as money was tight, but I wouldn't swap it. In appearance it sounds like dry's.

I wore shorts today for the first time in a few years - didn't look as bad as I remember although they were nearly knee length So I got to looking for shorts and came across these. Who would be brave enough to wear them?
These are sweet and not too short.

I like the look of these but probably wouldn't suit me.
