But for other purposes I did contemplate this

Drywhiteplease · 29/06/2014 21:22

Shame Secret that's a lovely dress. Have you tried Jaeger online?

maradesbois · 29/06/2014 21:28

Evening,

stokey can totally recommend the playmobil castle if you were thinking of getting it early for christmas. Is pretty big though so needs space. Had so much fun building it yesterday that dh said he knows what to get for my imminent birthday. Don't want to sound grabby but can't wait to know what my real present is, he bought it ages ago so am intrigued!

marsha and fedup good sale bargains. Really like the jeans in particular.

dry pork recipe sounds yum. Glad it all worked out.

SoyYo I loved the Matisse expo too, colours were indeed amazing & inspired by the light of the Côte d'Azur & his foreign travel. Loved how he decorated his studio walls and the silkscreen ocean print, would make a great wall covering.

liberty hope you got done what you needed to today. Your dh sounds like a sweetheart btw. Don't stress about what to wear next weekend, I am just so looking forward to meeting you all.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 29/06/2014 21:39

Hello all! Just back from a weekend away and I really enjoyed catching up on all the posts, it's made me feel so excited about the MU and I can't wait to meet everyone that's coming.

Been to PILs for the big birthday weekend that I was worried I'd miss the MU for - we were lucky with the weather and yesterday they did a BBQ for 60 people. I wore Sainsbury's lemon sundress with Zara orange wedges and a wide tan belt. Someone recognised the dress as being a supermarket bargain Grin

Amber did you get the lime Pippa? Good timing with the other one you sold! And SoyYo did you go for the black and white? I am going to have to wait for mine as I'm not in the office for a few days.

Marsha nice sales shopping, the jeans look great on MK and I'm sure they do on you :)

Decam thanks, I will contact me+em I think, as I love the dress.

Santa amazing boots!

Linus not sure what bag I'll be bringing to the MU, but if I can fit it in I'd be happy to bring some Collonil so you can spray the hobo for peace of mind! (Obv nothing to do with the fact that I'm sure we'd all love to see it Wink)

Nice shoe pics shop and Devere.

fedup really looking forward to our Vegas chat, I just saw Flo Rida's new video ("How I Feel") which is all set there so if you get a chance, have a watch :)

And to everyone I didn't mention as this post is getting epic.

One final small piece of news I have... DP and I have been erm, discussing things lately, and ended up taking Friday afternoon off work to go engagement ring shopping Shock Grin

no pics yet as we're waiting for it to be made but don't worry, there will be pics!

OneLittleLady · 29/06/2014 21:44

congratulations Blair!! Thanks [champagne]

LinusDKD · 29/06/2014 21:46

Congratulations blair!

So funny you mentioning Vegas as DH is watching Mars Attacks and told me earlier that we should go there one day for a weekend.

Such a silly film. I'm upstairs in bed now and I can hear him chuckling to here.

secret I think Boden also did some broderie dresses in a couple of colours.

LinusDKD · 29/06/2014 21:46

Oh yes, piccies of the ring please!

LinusDKD · 29/06/2014 21:47

QueenCadbury · 29/06/2014 21:54

Yay, congratulations blair. Can we start looking at wedding dresses yet...? Grin. We can celebrate with prosecco at the weekend.

dry sounds like something dh would love. Maybe something to try for a dinner party.

shopafrolic · 29/06/2014 21:55

Congrats Blair - lovely news!
I'm watching Ellis Goulding at Glasto - love her.
While DH has an early night as he is being a miserable git, I seem to have ordered some Photo Ready jeans here - I got sucked in by the only 1 left message. (There's probably 20 Grin)

LinusDKD · 29/06/2014 22:00

Maybe in the sales secret? Still £99 at the moment.

Drywhiteplease · 29/06/2014 22:03

maradesbois · 29/06/2014 22:16

Congratulations blair, great news, where is MN's [prosecco] when you need it?!! Can't wait to hear about your ring and see pics. Looking forward to the dress chat too!

Turquoiseblue · 29/06/2014 22:30

Blair !!!!!! Congratulations Grin
Have you picked a ring already .
Oh I had such fun time shopping for mine dh is a patient guy , think I d get the same one again if I was to do it over.

Question for all the MNV - what would be /is your dream engagement ring? For those of you that have one would you choose the one you have again?

OneLittleLady · 29/06/2014 22:32

turquoise I've never thought about a dream engagement ring as I've never been in a position to need to think about it. I don't know if that's sad or not at 31!

maradesbois · 29/06/2014 22:40

turq I didn't choose mine, was presented with it but its perfect and would get exactly the same again if it were today. It's a classic round, brilliant solitaire, big stone but really simple. Need to get it reset in platinum though as white gold is turning yellow.

BrandyAlexander · 29/06/2014 23:16

turq mine was also presented to me and it is totally my dream ring. I love love love it.

Dh had worked out (ahem) that it had to be a solitaire in a pretty little blue box with that lovely white bow. So he sensibly went along to Tiffany's and got me this ring. He had scientifically worked out (like only dh can!) that he wanted it to be more than 1ct, but thought 2ct would be too gaudy (really? Hmm I would have coped!) so he went half way. I love it and it makes me smile every time I take the time to stop and look at it. They clean it once a year and it makes me fall in love with it all over again.

Ps Amber will be along soon to tell you that she got this same ring from her boyfriend (who never made it to be her dh) and this was her horror ring Grin.

MarshaBrady · 30/06/2014 07:01

Blair congratulations! How exciting I think it's our first vogue wedding Grin . Very happy for you!

Turq yes I love my ring. It's an heirloom diamond and much nicer than we could have actually bought back then and it sparkles in a very pleasing way.

LinusDKD · 30/06/2014 07:15

Morning!

I love my engagement ring as well. DH chose the diamond himself in Antwerp and then had it set in a very simple Tiffany style setting. He must have paid attention when I was dropping hints about what kind of ring I liked.

I am considering re-setting it in the future but at the moment I haven't seen a setting I like.

Wearing my Jimmies and a Petit Bateau breton today with my navy/grey Gigis.

AmberNectarine · 30/06/2014 07:23

Yep, sorry novice, exactly true. In fairness the ring is very beautiful, but just too classic and grown up for me. It felt like he hadn't thought about it and just gone for a textbook lovely ring.

My DH wisely let me chose my own ring - it is a 3ct purple sapphire with a half carat princess cut diamond either side. It is really unusual, massive (I don't do delicate jewellery) and is always remarked upon, so I feel it was the right choice. Plus purple is my favourite colour. I'm like Marie from Breaking Bad.

AmberNectarine · 30/06/2014 07:25

Oh and OBVIOUSLY huge congrats to Blair!!

QueenCadbury · 30/06/2014 07:54

My ring is perfect but then I did make it very known that I wanted a diamond solitaire in platinum and even put one of my rings on his little finger so that he knew the size Grin. I was still totally shocked though when he presented it to me and it took me ages to actually say yes as all I could say was "oh my god" over and over!

Turquoiseblue · 30/06/2014 08:32

Love the engagement stories.
Blair do you think you ll have a big proposal ?
We 'designed' the ring after picking the stone. Like you novice it makes me smile when ever I wear it. But I don't wear it all the time- practical reasons.Do the rest of you wear yours daily?
< not directed to novice lol>

I m actually not much of a jewellery/ bling person, but this I do love. My wedding band is a simple pave set band with small twinkles :) I do wear that a bit, but not always either! dh teases I m on the pull (as if !)

I knew dh had the ring, he managed to kind of surprise me on the day with the proposal though, even thought I had been nagging him for ages to just hand it over. I hated the idea of a big wedding, we re both from huge families so that bit was a little stressy, but we had a beautiful day when it came around.
Amber, that second ring sounds like it really fits your style! Well, what I know of your style from here.
Marsha love the Idea of heirloom diamond, hope fully dc will have mine someday.
One, not sad, not at all, each to their own Smile. Hope the hay feaver has settled. Mine is abating now we re home again, it was terrible on holidays.
Mara I need to do that too someday actually.

Turquoiseblue · 30/06/2014 08:36
