Matches has further reductions up to 70% off now.

MarshaBrady · 25/06/2014 09:28

I couldn't find anything and all my wish list is still the same price. Probably a good thing right now!

That is scary shop - i worry about the pressure my daughters will be under when they grow up, i already see it among other family members in their teens - they are teeny tiny size 6 or smaller. Tricky when you've also got so much negative press around being fat and childhood obesity etc, there seems to be no happy medium.

I also think there is a lot to be said about vanity sizing, if you look at size 10 or 12 from the 1950's they are tiny, like a 6 or 8 in modern sizing. I hate it even shopping in places like Gap or some of the online jeans sizing I have no idea what I am.....

MarshaBrady · 25/06/2014 09:46

Does anyone wear J Brand love story (flare type ones) here?, some £50 hanging around reduced from £260

Fedupnagging · 25/06/2014 09:46

I read a similar article on Sunday. I had no idea that triple 0 was a size for starters but yes, very scary. Won't get on my soapbox about the media reinforcing ideals etc etc. I am frequently telling my sons that real women are not like the ones they see on TV/films esp on rap type videos either in looks or outlook.

Mini rant over! One didn't realise you were unwell so sending you get well soon vibes.

Today I will be wearing white jeans, gigi's and either a ted baker t with plain front and patterned back, or boden lilac t. Can't decide. Have a college interview with ds2 Sad in 70 minutes - he is still in bed and no doubt won't give a seconds though to what he is wearing. Making a good impression doesn't figure in his world!

Then I will make a trip to TK - yet another pair of sunnies broke yesterday so need to replace.

LinusDKD · 25/06/2014 09:49

Me neither marsha either not reduced at all or not reduced enough.

My Theresa also has added new sales stuff but I just can't be bothered to look.

LinusDKD · 25/06/2014 09:52

Oh and according to the Hush fb page their proper sale will start on July 8th.

Stokey · 25/06/2014 10:12

I do know the furry flip-flops are wrong, but part of me (the cold part) covets them!
Fed-up Belinda from the workwear thread/blog has just bought some rockstud lookalikes from Coast. They're not black but pretty cheap so may be worth a punt.

Does anyone shop at All Sanits?they seem to have some quite pretty dresses in the sale like this one.

I need to got to TK Maxx for some shades too

Turquoiseblue · 25/06/2014 10:29

Like lots of you anything I was interested in sold out already or hasn't been reduced. Haven't browsed that much either am not it less sorted for stuff unless re ubiquitous amazing dream handbag, or carry all for days out (still not convinced by the pilage , it s the tan leather bits I don't like) comes along.... Holiday spending had eaten (literally!) most of my spare cash !
Plus when we get home the dc are going to need shoes and trainers. Blair I love the sound of your outfit last night.
Today I m in whistles neon jacquard mini, leopard superga, mango Tee, mulberry hobo, bare legs too.

BrandyAlexander · 25/06/2014 11:17

This morning, ds to me (looking at my blue suede PS1): That's a new bag mummy.

Dh: hmmm.

Me: hmmm (quickly tries to change subject).

Ds: is it a new bag mummy?

Me: yes darling

Ds: where did you get it from?

Me: Selfridges.

Ds: What's Selfridges?

Dh: where our money goes.

LOL @ Shop!

One, I hate to ask, but if you are around, I'd be grateful for a word of support...here Smile

QueenCadbury · 25/06/2014 12:48

That's so funny novice

Absolutely no fashion news from me. I've vaguely looked at sale stuff online but I don't really need anything. There's one thing I have my eye on but isn't discounted. I'm getting more excited by the AW stuff filtering through. It's cooled down a bit here so nice to be in rolled up jeans rather than shorts for a change.

anni thanks for the bleach tip but not sure that I'm brave enough to do that. I did another session with the vanish yesterday which has helped. It's just that there's so many splodges. She's under strict instructions to stay in one place if it happens again Grin

shop triple 0 is scary. That can't be natural for anyone? I also wonder how people get so small as I'm sure even with extreme exercise and starving my bone structure would just not allow me to fit into 000.

Stokey · 25/06/2014 13:50

Novice LOL

QueenC DM always tells me she had a 17" waist before she got pregnant with me! She is Asian and has very small bones.

MarshaBrady · 25/06/2014 13:59

Stokey that is tiny.

I remember stats about Dolly Parton's waist being bandied about when I was young. Was she the official sleb small waist? Probably

bettykt · 25/06/2014 14:14

Novice [grins] kids hey?

Sleep, just read that thread and can't believe people are so rude.

I'm wearing white 7/8 jeans and my favourite slash neck Phase 8 top, was wearing gigi type sandals but have done a Dry and changed to high heeled sandals to wear to shop and will change back to flats for school run later on.

One hope everything is okay Thanks

Watching Murray Mint at the moment.

Not impressed with matches, nothing i want is even %50 off, I bought a few things from APC,they finally had their sale, will link later,on phone,

shop that is really scary,I saw 000 sizing on jcrew website, and thought it must be a mistake or something, didnt know it really exists,

queen I thought about this too, really strange,

marsha I googled Dolly Parton waist size and its somewhere between 19-14 inc Shock, Audrey hephern was 20inch but she is really slim with no curve unlike dolly, who is va va voom,It must be surgically enhanced.

annielewis · 25/06/2014 15:49

Isn't Dita von Teese another one who has apparently got an 18" waist, not sure if thats when its corsetted though.....

Sleepwhenidie · 25/06/2014 16:12

Shock - really Annie? Must be corseted surely? Dolly and Audrey H were also very tiny height wise no? Even then, very tiny waists. I remember being shocked at the small sizes of the costumes - mens and womens - at the V&A Hollywood costume exhibition.

Santa I looked around Matches in Marylebone last week (I always think of you when I am in there Smile) - nothing I liked either, except an Alaia dress which was 4 figures even reduced Hmm. I am hanging out for Anna sale, I have a credit note after taking the jeans I bought back and getting them from Shopbop.

I am a little shaky - spent the afternoon learning trapeze skills in Regents Park, amazing but very scary!

Stokey · 25/06/2014 16:20

Wow sounds fantastic Sleep. A friend was telling me about somewhere in Kings X that does this for DC. Mine are still a bit little though but the eldest would lvoe doing gymnastics style stuff.

Hope you're OK after that thread, people can be very critical.

Think Dolly is under 5ft, DM is 5ft 2 but I think Asian people tend to have a more petite structure than Northern Europeans (gross generalisation I know).

annielewis · 25/06/2014 16:22

Googled - seems to be 22" when not corsetted and 16-18" when in a corset!!! Crazy tiny!

Trapeze sounds amazing (can't help thinking of the SATC episode with Carrie learning trapeze...)

Sleepwhenidie · 25/06/2014 16:25

Thanks Stokey Smile - trying not to let it get to me and become defensive, I don't have to justify what I do when I know it helps so many people, but its frustrating when someone criticises without even bothering to understand exactly what it is they are slating Hmm.

The DC's have to be 8 (for size reasons - reaching the bar) to do the Gorilla Circus, but just getting up the ladder is pretty daunting! My DS1 wants to do it - he is almost 9, but I don't hold out that much hope he will get onto the platform Smile.
