My turn......

OP posts:
lalsy · 14/05/2014 22:39

Crem, Achilles doesn't feature in her A levels, sorry, I wasn't clear. She seems pretty chipper really, but I thought maybe tears at Achilles' fate might be exam stress surfacing elsewhere....put like that it doesn't seem very likely. Is your dd on study leave now? Chocolate also features heavily here.

Surely a double sized tea towel would never get the chance to dry [overthinking?].

QueenQueenie · 14/05/2014 22:40

BTM might like that one Windy!

Auriga, good to "see" you. Sorry to hear you and yours have all been under the weather (what does that even mean??). Is your dd battling with exams like so many of the crepey dcs? My ds1 starts his AS levels tomorrow - he seems completely up for it, I feel extremely anxious for him.

Can you bring me a hot choc Stropps?

QueenQueenie · 14/05/2014 22:41

Perhaps Addle could fashion the thoughtful gift into a playsuit?

NearTheWindymill · 14/05/2014 22:44

snorts

Blackduck · 14/05/2014 22:45

QQ s- snort :)
No please do not make the next night out 'theme' play suits.........

cremolafoam · 14/05/2014 22:56

Or just come in pjs like Monster Raving Loony crepeys.

Last sorry I picked you up the wrong way and though perhaps dd was a classics scholarSmile
Yes the exam board here has exams up and running from May 4th. Dd is only doing one AqA board exam in French. She is half way through a long stretch which finishes with a French paper on 19th June.
The plot has been lost a bit. But apart from feeding and hugging I am charged with keeping her fuse lit for two whole months. I will be hitting the gin on 20th June and so will dd .

lalsy · 14/05/2014 23:00

Snorts and drops knitting Grin. Addle, look, I am sure you could adapt this

lalsy · 14/05/2014 23:06

You are quite right, Crem, she is but Latin, so Achilles is on the side but she finds him very sad Smile. Really good luck to your dd, feeding and hugging very important.

cremolafoam · 14/05/2014 23:06

"They are 100% cotton and very absorbent. I thought these would make a comfortable summer dress for Rachel! "

Yes because absorbency is vital in childrenswear. GrinGrin
Ps you'll need 3 towels for that dress Addle

lalsy · 14/05/2014 23:18

Grin lucky old Rachel.

herbaceous · 14/05/2014 23:21

Crepeys - you have been busy this evening. I've just got in from the dress rehearsal of Yeoman of the Guard, where I'm singing in the gallery chorus. Mainly sightreading, which is a challenge with G&S.

As you can imagine, I reduce the average age of both cast and audience by about 20 years.

It's held in the theatre building of the local private school, complete with proper staging, green room, air con, sound studio, raked seating, the works. I may yet sell all our furniture and my soul to send DS there.

And all after a trying afternoon with DS at the eye hospital, where we both had to do blood tests as part of a research project into genetic links with eye problems. DS was not keen in the slightest, and got mildly hysterical.

Stropps - glad the crepeys have talked you round/up. You are an extraordinary lady, and I would miss you greatly.

Blackduck · 15/05/2014 06:27

Good luck with exams today peeps.....
MI - the last big push for ours - I think ds is bored now! It's a beautiful morning here, just a shame I have to go to work!

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2014 06:44

BD did you say you have an interview and something about secondment? Today? Good Luck!

Just taken DD a coffee. Not looking forward to the car journey...!

Auriga · 15/05/2014 06:49

QQ, DD has Year 10 exams. She's not over-anxious, in fact probably a bit too laid-back for my peace of mind but I'm not hassling her. She also has Grade 6 violin and a big singing solo coming up, so I'm trying to encourage her to keep practising. Hope you don't suffer too much AS stress. Hot chocolate will surely help?

BD, I think we were both stuck in intensive care at around the same time. I think I'm still getting over it all. Can sometimes go for a walk now without thinking about where they could land the air ambulance if needed.

NUFC69 · 15/05/2014 07:45

Grey here, unfortunately, after yesterday's lovely day when I thought summer was on the way. Good luck to exam takers. I think the only way to cope is to think "in so many days this will be over".

I meant to say, yesterday at Alnwick we had lunch in the pavilion accompanied by a tenor singing a mix of opera and popular music - lovely.

Glad to hear that you're feeling more upbeat, Stropps.

Have a good day everyone.

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2014 07:56

Beautiful blue skies here NU! And that is my thinking too. Just dropped DD at her mates and she was very nervous but smilingSmile

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2014 07:59

Am getting used to the new bus car - it is really weird driving an automatic. I keep reaching out for the gear-stick! And it only just fitted through the bollards by the DC's school, eeeek!

Bindibach · 15/05/2014 08:49

Hello Wilbur and anyone else I have missed. This thread moves very quick doesn't it Smile. I was stuck in bed yesterday with a migraine and throwing up so lost a whole day.

Bindibach · 15/05/2014 08:51

Its years since my kids did their exams. My daughter is just finishing her second year at Uni and is preparing her dissertation for her final year.

beachyhead · 15/05/2014 08:53

Well, I like that jumpsuit or is it playsuit (though jumping and playing are a bit beyond me!),QQ. Although you will have the indignity of sitting on the loo with just your undies on the top half!

Auriga and BD, sorry I hadn't realised you had been so ill. Best of luck with the recoveries.

Stropps, you won't need your dodgy stove at camp night. Boys will barbie for all whilst quaffing red wine and beer. And I'll do brekkie in my newly built kitchen, she said hopefully.

Work is creeping out of its 2.5 day slot and encroaching on my precious time. I'm viciously beating it back, but I'm not sure I'm going to win. I've always been very firm about part time work and I'm not as emotionally attached to this workplace as I have been in the past, but I seem to have been sucked into the dysfunctional vortex.

We have a five day exam break, so am treating dd1 to a lie in.

Bindibach · 15/05/2014 08:53

Im sending "Good Luck" vibes to all your children taking exams though.
It all goes so quickly doesn't it and before you know it they are in their twenties. Sigh.....enjoy.

motherinferior · 15/05/2014 08:59

I have conducted a Ladyjog. It seems not to be getting easier Confused but it was a lovely morning for it. Yep, DD2 off for last push and then visit to secondary; DD1 somewhere on her school trip (place strangely quiet without her Shock; DP informs me he has monster day tomorrow involving trip to Berlin and back (er, right, I'm sure he told me but I wasn't listening Blush) so good thing I managed to get out of the house this morning as I feel DD2 could do with some morning company.

DD1 appears to be coming back, and then going straight out again with friends Envy though admittedly this is a wholesome outing with someone else's youth club (or so I'm informed Wink).

Bindi, migraine is truly vile. The vomiting is the pits.

Blackduck · 15/05/2014 09:00

Hi BTM - no interview is Monday - Have to do a presentation over the weekend....... (wibble)

Hi Beachy - no my mum, and Auriga's DH - we were the ones sitting by bedsides - heart attack/stroke. - this time last year.

bigTillyMint · 15/05/2014 09:27

In S&B news I am wearing bare legs todayShock

Bindibach · 15/05/2014 09:40

Bare legs???? Im still in boots and skinnies here.
