Are there any products you've bought which you just think that was a waste of bloody time and money?!

Now I love Bobbi Brown but this product - Rose Shimmer Brick has done NADA for me doesn't add any colour to my face nor use as an eyeshadow. In fact it's put me off these types of shimmery stuff.

Anyone else got anything they weren't impressed with?! Smile

Shock I only realised today that my no7 foundation (warm ivory) is the BEST skin match colour for my skin, it's just exactly my face in a bottle Grin

I need to go out and buy more since it's finished! My only contribution is he crystal clear skin illuminating cream. went off a reccomendation on here and it's total pants, gives face a really deathly white look and pills under make up. Sexy!

Aghast at the Bare Minerals hatred on here!

Great thread but makes me grateful that I don't (always) take heed of things like this.

Bare Minerals is probably my best ever beauty discovery. Those who say it looks like it's been applied with a trowel, that's probably because it has been Grin Seriously, you need the teensiest amount. Tap it off on the pot, swirl on the skin and then buff. And FFS use their brushes. If I overdo the application, it does look dry. I tap out what I think I need and then put half back in the pot. It still makes my skin look amazing.

I don't think there's hatred here. Confused

If it works for you then fine, but not everything works for everybody.
One of my all time favourites has been mentioned a few times above - Clarins Blue orchid oil, and while I adore it I see it does not work for others.

But, while we're on the Bare minerals subject, even some of the sales assistants in Selfridges look absolutely caked on, so that's probably not the best advert for the product.

FrugalFashionista · 24/03/2014 11:22

Cheesy minerals are really divisive, they tend to be love/hate. (Liquid foundation is mostly 'meh'/'does the job' ime.) They have been one of my greatest beauty discoveries, loving them! I wear them ultra sheer, you cannot see I'm wearing anything, my skin just looks glowier and more even-toned than normally.

Bare Minerals foundation and powders bring me out in a rash and highlight every pore and wrinkle, despite copious amounts of blending with the expensive kabuki brush they convinced me to buy. Lily Lilo does the same. Maybelline mascara either smudges on me or makes my eyelashes brittle. MAC lipstick tastes horrible and their foundation makes my face look like I have caked it on and it dries out my skin. And the Lancôme face wash I bought has managed to dry out my skin and cause a breakout! Phew, that was cathartic.

I did find a mineral powder foundation from Meow Cosmetics that worked on me but the company is based in the States and it costs a fortune to ship.

Bare Minerals. Way too drying for my dry skin. Makes my skin look incredibly caked and parched. I much prefer a light dewy foundation like YSL Touche Eclat or Chanel Aqua Lumiere.

Babyliss big hair. The diametre on the barrel of even the smaller one means that it doesn't get anywhere near the root and so my hair looks very flat on top and a bit mad from half way down.

Clinique mascara gives me panda eyes. I love Estee Lauder mascaras.

I am not at all impressed with the Nars lip crayons either. Very expensive for what they are, and so soft that it barely lasted me a fortnight. Give me a moisturising lipstick and a soft lip liner any day.

HelloBoys · 24/03/2014 14:01

everyone in love with Mineral stuff or not...

I tried the Clinique version - my mum when I saw her LOVED it on me, I was like, huh, this covers WHAT exactly? I prefer a liquid/creme I think.

I love beauty flash balm!!

SilkStalkings · 24/03/2014 20:53

Funny, Bare Minerals powder is the only foundation I like because it doesn't give me that horrible sucking feeling as it settles/dries. Took 2 trips and different salesgirls to get the shade exactly right, mind.

mycatlikestwiglets · 25/03/2014 09:14

Boots Protect and Perfect - gave me spots.

Bumble & Bumble moisturising leave-in conditioner type spray - did nothing noticeable and certainly didn't make it easier to comb my wet hair. Expensive waste of money!

Kudzugirl · 25/03/2014 09:22

Eight hour cream smells disgusting. Never found out if it works on humans but it shines up horses hooves a treat.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. I am still awaiting to be flashed by my beauty. It had no effect whatsoever.

YSL Touche Eclat- biggest collective beauty delusion EVER. Very hard to match to your skin unless you are the kind of person who obliterates natural skin tone with an inch of base.

Every concealer ever- my skin is too pale. Clarins non run, non smudge eyeliner. It did and it did.

Most eyeliners in fact. And gel eyeliner caused my eyes to develop a condition where the mebium glands blocked and stopped working properly. My eye doctor is conducting research into the effects of these silicons and gels because he thinks they have longer term implications that the beauty industry did not adequately test for.

satintaupe · 25/03/2014 11:16

Boots Protect and Perfect serum - the only product I've ever returned. It brought me out in a load of spots.

Bare Minerals - makes my skin itch.

Molton Brown bath products - hardly smell once in the bath.

rockpink · 03/04/2014 17:49

How do you apply Beauty Flash Balm anyway? I know it smells grim but it must be good!
