Not impressed with products - spill all!

Are there any products you've bought which you just think that was a waste of bloody time and money?!

Now I love Bobbi Brown but this product - Rose Shimmer Brick has done NADA for me doesn't add any colour to my face nor use as an eyeshadow. In fact it's put me off these types of shimmery stuff.

Anyone else got anything they weren't impressed with?! Smile

Benefit they're real - awfulness
Nanoblur - makes me look ashen, ill and dull skinned.
Bobbi brown gel liner - I actually love this but it dries up way too fast.
Chanel mascara plum - meh.
Wella enrich shampoo/conditioner - possibly the driest, least enriching hair product ever.

permaquandry · 20/03/2014 21:40

Isn't it funny, Clarins Double Serum, Batiste and Benefit Bad Gal (black and plum) are my just have items! And I love Laura Mercier Creme de Brûlée bath, divine and not like Radox at all. I wonder if you've had a dodgy bottle?

In my waste bin: Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour, Boots Protect and Perfect, Mason & Pearson hairbrush (sooo wanted to love this), YSL Touché Éclat - ok but not fab. Dermologica skin care - ok but did nothing for my skin, except daily microfoliant, that's gp fab.

CecyHall · 20/03/2014 21:40

I think Beauty Flash Balm is such a cool name for a product I really want to like it. But I don't.

Blithereens · 20/03/2014 21:43

Perma so funny because I couldn't bear Bad Gal but would crawl on glass for my Mason and Pearson! Good job too as it cost the flamin' Earth. And I can't be without my Touche Eclat!

Other things I hated: 8hr Cream although the hand cream and lip balm are fab. Clarins lotus face oil - made my skin burn, I sold it straight on.

I love my Lush products but I do agree their make-up was thumbs-down.

FoxyHarlow123 · 20/03/2014 22:18

Came on to say creme de la mer too.

Snatchoo · 20/03/2014 22:29

Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer.

I think we get a different formula in the uk - I read loads and loads of blogs and reviews which said it was almost gluey but worked well.

It doesn't. It's like every other silicone-based primer I've ever tried - but three times the price of Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel.

Really pissed off.

Oh, and Illamasqua foundation - can't remember the name but it's the full coverage one. Does nothing for me.

WhoKnows I take it you have curly hair? I can't use Boots curl creme on it's own, but mixed with the Body Shop Beauty Oil (silicone free!) it's brilliant.

andadietcoke I'll have your CC cream it's my favourite product!

I know I must have some stuff I don't want or need. I'll have a dig around.

AntoinetteCosway · 20/03/2014 22:34

All Lancôme mascaras. And Hourglass mascaras. Gloopy, wet, rubbish. And meant to be the best! YSL or Loreal all the way for me.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/03/2014 22:35

Very wavy rather than properly curly - everything seems to either make it lanky or crunchy or both. I've only the listed the failures I can remember, there are more.

I love many Lush products too but have never felt even remotely tempted by the make-up range.

GiniCooper · 20/03/2014 22:37

Clinique anything. All too harsh and the hard sell on buying EVERYTHING in the range for it to work. No, it's all hurting my face actually. I have bought everything.... It's still shite.

8 hour cream is smelly Vaseline.

Urban decay primer. Don't see any difference.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 20/03/2014 22:38

Face wipes - never found any that didn't sting.

GiniCooper · 20/03/2014 22:38

Oh, Touché éclat. Who needs a highlighter?

Nerfmother · 20/03/2014 23:12

8 hour cream is amazing . I am stunned at the level of dislike on here!
I use it as a cure all rather than a beauty product - sore cuticles, little scar, rough patch of eczema, molluscum, etx. The kids and I love it!

williaminajetfighter · 20/03/2014 23:27

I bought a selection of v expensive Rodial products and they were all shot! Dr Sebagh is also crap.

Eve lom cleanser though is amazing and same with Creme de la Mer but the lotion is much better than the cream...

pseudonymity · 20/03/2014 23:48

Benefit posy tint, doesn't show up on me at all, nothing.
Aldi serum, sticky, awful, straight in the bin.
I use MUA to vet reviews on products now.

pseudonymity · 20/03/2014 23:50

Elvive extraordinary oil, anyone thinking of buying it instead of Morrocan Oil - it's not a patch on it.

Puddles1234 · 21/03/2014 00:02

Perma That really surprises me I adore my Mason Pearson and always have one with me. I'm shocked that some people don't like Creme De La Mer I use it daily all over my body, couldn't be without it.

GiniCooper Highlighter is a must have if like me you Highlight and Contour.

I guess it's each to their own with products. Not all the best cult products suit everyone.

My hates are:

Anything By 'Lush'
Anything Benefit (Overpriced for what it is)
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, it's awful on my skin yet my friends skin looks incredible when using it.
DIOR Show mascara ( Used to use this all the time then suddenly when buying a new tube it was rubbish)
Nars Multiple Sticks (Makes my Makeup go incredibly patchy, can only get away with these on vacation)
BareMinerals (God awful stuff. Makes my oily skin look disgusting. MAC MSFN is so much better)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 21/03/2014 06:45

Any expensive mascara. Collection 2000 for about £3 are just as good.

Touche Éclat- ditto, the Collection 2000 one costs £5 and doesn't stink like a dirty dishcloth after 3 days.

8 hr cream. wtaf? Looks and smells more like leg wax.

Bare Minerals, I looked like Peter Andre and Barbara Cartland's lovechild.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 21/03/2014 06:48

I agree re Clinique although I do always use their Double Powder.

A sales assistant once told my friend that originally Clinique were marketed at people with problem oily skin, hence the harshness.

T'is possibly a MN myth but I've seen on here that Chanel make Bourjois, and the only difference is the pot, and that Crème de la mer has the same ingredients as Atrixo hand cream.

Dappydongle · 21/03/2014 06:56

Touche éclat- smells so bad so quickly.

Germgirl · 21/03/2014 06:58

YY to the compact BM foundation. I bought it. Then I bought the brush that's meant to make it amazing. Then I bought the BM primer that's also meant to make it amazing. It's still awful. Shiny, beads up into lumps & just looks terrible.
However, I love Benefits They're Real, and 8hr cream.
I love Eve Lom cleansing balm but it's very expensive. Tesco used to do a very similar one but I think it's been discontinued & my last pot is almost empty. I will try the superdrug one.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 21/03/2014 07:13

It is very individual, a Mason Pearson hairbrush would be wasted on my hair because it is very wavy and brushing wrecks it's shape.

SELondonSwede · 21/03/2014 07:44

Anything by benefit
Anything by Clinique
Anything by Rodial

RockMummy · 21/03/2014 07:54

Boots Curl Cream - gave me itchy scalp. Still not managed to solve it.
Touch Eclat - gave me dry patches under my eyes. Hideous!
Sensitive skin so hideous reactions to any perfumed in the bath or shower.

JaxTellerIsAllMine · 21/03/2014 08:12

The L'oreal Elvive shampoo and conditioner range - serious itchy scalp, spots and reaction. So its back to Paul Mitchell and Kerastase.

Morrocon Oil is lovely but £££ - Primark cheapo Argan oil works just the same.

I love some benefit products; huge fan of Diary of a Concealaholic and also love they're real mascara.

Dont get on with any oil producs to enhance skin or moisturise face.

I have a load of trial size upstairs that can be swapped or binned. Sad
Used to love Clinique in my early 20s, but now as I climb the stairs towards 40 I cant use it at all. Im an Olay regenerist girl and Im sticking with it. Ive tried £ to £££ all the brands and Olay works best on my skin.

lurkingfromhome · 21/03/2014 08:56

Liz Earle C&P (another one here who ended up with a faceful of spots).

Any hair defrizz product (Frizz-ease, various 3-day straight products) - none of them work. At all.

Max Factor 3-day mascara. What was I thinking? Nearly £20 for a product that is by far the worst mascara I have ever used.

Sudocrem - makes not a blind bit of difference to anything I use it for.

Marks & Spencer eyeshadow - I get a palette from my mum every Christmas and don't have the heart to tell her that they have NO pigment in them at all.
