Styles you don't admire?

First of all I apologise for the title of this post, I couldn't think of a better way to explain it! Do you have a style that is popular at the moment that you absolutely loathe ? The reason I ask this is because, today I have been out in my local town and noticed a lot of women wearing a certain type of look, but not sure how to describe it. Quilted fitted jackets, tightish or bootleg jeans, some sort of boots, animal print scarf, designer handbag and gold jewellery. I'm really not keen on this look, but they might not be keen on mine, so each to their own! Just wondered if anyone else feels this way about certain looks?

Love patterned trews. But I have the legs. ;).
Hate tea dressss and cardigans and leggings. So drab. Hate skater dresses.

LordPalmerston · 01/03/2014 08:38

Men in beanie hats and t shirts. Just make your mind up

LordPalmerston · 01/03/2014 08:39

I do think the blogger trainer thing is quite funny. You're all at it.

MorrisZapp · 01/03/2014 08:48

I've heard loads of people on here berate anybody over a size ten for wearing skinny jeans. Genuine question, what kind of jeans should us larger ladies be wearing? I'm a size 14.

Like Amber there are hardly any styles that I actively dislike. Not the hugest fan of the TOWIE look, but that's about it. I like to see people enjoying clothes and style and doing whatever they are interested in doing. I think the saddest thing is when people think they are too old or unstylish to be worth making an effort any more.

TheJumped · 01/03/2014 09:16

I have to post my outfit today -

Grey and black striped long velour jumper dress - Juicy Couture
Black leggings
Grey UGGs with Swarovski crystals

Grin I am TOWIE personified today.

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:21

Uggs used in any capacity outside of the home
In fact they are grim indoors but at least I am not forced to look at them

Nocomet · 01/03/2014 09:21

As a larger lady, whatever jeans you feel comfortable in and suit your life style.

For me that's skinny jeans (and I don't give a monkeys if I look like a parsnip).

I wore my slight boot cuts yesterday and the bottom of my legs were cold. I like tight fitting ankles.

I like no gap between trousers and ankle boots and I like to be able to tuck my jeans in long boots.

It's the fashion I liked best aged 19 and I suspect I'll still wear when I'm 70.

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:23

Prom dresses, fifties throwback monstrosities
Skater dresses (argghh) unless on a teen

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:24

I quite like the Cleopatra eyebrows ( again on teens )

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:28

Ooo and illusion dresses when the inner panel is a light colour than the outer supposedly giving an illusion of an hourglass
It doesn't

Body con dresses, good on rail thin teens - on all the rest of us we either look like sofas or desperate try hards clinging on to a carol vorderman sexuality

Levantine · 01/03/2014 09:28

Bobble hat perched on head and full face of make up. Looks weird. Bobble hats are for a bracing walk in the park imo.

MarshaBrady · 01/03/2014 09:28

I prefer any style over lack of style. Not that everyone has to care about fashion. But it's more interesting to be around it.

I suppose the one I'm least keen on is the full on vintage 50s bright red lippy look. But I'm sure there's someone who can do it with aplomb.

MarshaBrady · 01/03/2014 09:30

Oh yes and Carol Vorderman body con. Too tight.

Now you mention it that over dressed turkey foil look cinched with belt that the Loose Women people do. Not that I watch it, but in pics.

tethersend · 01/03/2014 09:31

Clothes with pictures on them of people more attractive than the wearer.

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:40

Bored to death by cocoon coats ( although I own two ) my mother has just bought one. I know it is time......

Awful massive heels girls and women are crippled by but think is worth it...not stylish, not hip - only useful for training in case captured over enemy territory and having feet beaten by coshes
State secrets are safe with you

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:41

Thick jumpers on birds with norks and those who are fat
Doesn't work

GeorginaWorsley · 01/03/2014 09:48

New Balance trainers on all the mummy bloggers.
Wedge trainers were last year!

Sicaq · 01/03/2014 09:53

I got a bloke one: knee-length combat shorts with
Regatta-style flip-flops. In February. Usually seen with Regatta cycle jacket and goatee. I think it's the Earnest Dad look.

Damn, I"m bitchy Blush

RonaldMcDonald · 01/03/2014 09:56

All 3/4 length shorts on men
Hilarious

LordPalmerston · 01/03/2014 10:37

women who are still a niche style
like 50 year old goths
It rarely looks good

and generally flabby pendulous tits on display.
ergh

LordPalmerston · 01/03/2014 10:38

shit! i forgot

any 50s style " wiggle" [rolls eyes] dresses for women who are fat who like to celebrate their curves

vivienne of holloway, I am looking at YOU

GeorginaWorsley · 01/03/2014 10:50

Also that Cruise style, glitzy metallic look seen on women of certain age .
Usually with Sharon Osborne red choppy hairstyle.

LordPalmerston · 01/03/2014 11:06

that hair cut women over 50 choose
one layer down from cruise - short and unflattering

tethersend · 01/03/2014 11:06

Ah, I LOVE 50yo goths, LordPalmerston- I like an enduring commitment to a style.
