Hello....not a stealth boast, more of a quick, help me not look like a chav....

A friend of mine is in handbag shop right now. He's just text me saying would I prefer a "Chanel Quilted Caviar leather Flap bag" in black, red, white or gold.

What do I have? Discounted red as I have a red Lulu Guiness clutch. Is white chavtastic? Do I go classic black, or nudey gold? Both I have loads to match, outfit wise. Help quickly please!!!! What's best?

Googled them...I presume it's the small one. He doesn't know me that well to spend loads.

TIA!!! x x x

Just out of interest how much is a Chanel handbag? I'm thinking the classic quilted flap with chain, smallest size? My dh was laughed out of Chanel one Christmas when he told them his budget!

missbeehiving tuck a bendy straw behind one ear and shove two funnels up your jumper and do the Madge thing properly Grin

Scottish - about £2.5k? Not sure though

I'm more surprised someone with that kind of money is out shopping at 5.30 during the week. Would have thought they would be either too busy working or would send someone!

LaurieFairyCake · 08/01/2014 14:08

He's bought her two though, so about £4ks worth I think.

HelloBoys · 08/01/2014 14:08

oh could've sworn you said you were in your 30's in a past post.

don't worry Sugar I think I can guess what sort of modelling work you do. Wink

I mean I can quite easily if they so wanted list some of my brother's good friends who are models a male one (kosher nothing dodgy) and another one, they do packshot and one models for Woolovers, hardly catwalk but it pays their bills.

enjoy the bags!

HelloBoys · 08/01/2014 14:09

Amber - yes, I'm the same - I can afford my own Tiffany/Chanel etc - and wouldn't dream of asking a man to buy for me!

besides only a Birkin really keeps it value!

HelloBoys · 08/01/2014 14:10

hiphip - do you mean Sugar's sugar daddy should be sending their hired help/secretaries like the infamous Grillo sisters who worked for Saatchi/Higella Lawson?! to buy the bags I mean and whatever else they liked

MissBeehiving · 08/01/2014 14:14

Amber is more of a "honey who makes the money" type of gal

SugarHut · 08/01/2014 14:18

I earn lots, in fact probably a lot more than 99% of MNers. I can/have/do spend what I like on whatever I like. I love judgy types who think that I must be getting this stuff because I want it and can't afford it for myself.

I also have the option of someone wanting to treat me to a few things instead.

There lies the difference. That people that don't have the "option" get bitchy about. Jealous, good god no. We said NO. No No No!

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.... Grin

I have a lovely husband who treats me all the time, as anyone who reads my blog will know. I guess the difference is that it's a loving, caring, respectful relationship where anything one gives the other is reciprocated in some way be it material, practical or emotional.

And as an added bonus, I don't have to get my boobs out for anyone I'm not breastfeeding.

SugarHut · 08/01/2014 14:31

Yeah that's very true...simple friendship counts for shit in this world.

What a sad, sad existence it must be for some :(

High jack - is it a style blog Amber? I have a thing in a few weeks and am struggling to style a dress so need all the inspiration I can get if you can link! Smile

hiphipreplacement · 08/01/2014 14:37

Are you on TOWIE SugarHut?

ScooseIsLoose · 08/01/2014 14:49

It's not a simple friendship tho is it he buys you things do you reciprocate?

ProjectGainsborough · 08/01/2014 14:55

I knew this thread would go off.

Don't think it really matters as long as everyone is consenting.

And please can we not say 'Higella'. If not libellous, then it's at least extremely fucking irritating.

SugarHut · 08/01/2014 14:55

Ummm, I give things to my friends all the time. Usually clothes, bags, shoes, that I have no room for. I took my best friend for a spa day a couple of weeks ago. Should I be expecting stuff back? How tragic.

I don't give to receive. I give to make the person I'm giving to smile. I must be a sugarmummy. Or maybe we should say I'm buying their friendship in the hope one day they sleep with me. That's probably more accurate.

I can't imagine how miserable it must be to look at life like that.

Enjoy your bags and enjoy your life.

Please to ask your friend if he fancies coffee with an overweight, acerbic, nearly-40 luxury-lover? Wink

NigellasGuest · 08/01/2014 15:04

Lucky you OP - I would go for classic black.
would also be easier to sell on later, perhaps?
I'm not in the habit of judging, let he who is without sin cast the first stone and all that. Everything is relative.
Plus, this is S&B not AIBU!

Apatite1 · 08/01/2014 15:05

Don't bother ladies, she's convinced herself that you guys are all just jealous you don't have a friend like her. Give it 9 days though: a true friendship will be born!

AmberNectarine · 08/01/2014 15:07

By 'wit' do you mean agreeing with you, perchance?

When I said 'reciprocal' what I meant was not taking the other for a ride, as opposed the the simplistic 'giving to receive'.

But anyway, you're clearly fine with the arrangement to the extent you felt the need to announce it to MN, so best of luck to you. Enjoy your bags.

AmberNectarine · 08/01/2014 15:07

at 9 days!
