The big boxes (and they are huge! I think it's the same thing as the boot big box), have started to arrive for Christmas.

So getting a tree this weekend to put them under. When are you all getting your trees?

QueenCadbury · 05/12/2013 10:36

It's so windy that our table that was folded up on our balcony outside our bedroom has blown off. Thank goodness it landed on the drive and not on the car or a person!

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2013 10:38

I feel like lots of lovely stuff has been ordered lately, has anything arrived?

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2013 10:38

That's on here, not in general Grin

Annianni · 05/12/2013 10:40

We're tree shopping on Saturday Marsha.
Can't wait! :o

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2013 10:41

Excellent! Grin

shopafrolic · 05/12/2013 11:52

Tree on Sunday for us but we'll probably put it up the weekend after.
You really didn't need to get me such a big pressie Marsha Xmas Grin

shopafrolic · 05/12/2013 11:53

What have you ladies done to me? I'm currently chomping on Quinoa, Pea shoots and pumpkin seeds! Actually yummy :)

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2013 12:03

Hehe Shop unfortunately it's too big to carry into town Grin

I could rhapsodise about the tastiness of good food.. But I'll let you all off, another time perhaps. Bet you can't wait Grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 05/12/2013 12:07

QueenC I love you! Thank you for your offer - although I'm not quite selfish enough to hope it's not right for you, I would be very glad to take the XS off your hands if it's not right. Thanks
I ordered the emerald silk blouse in the end, but have spotted a beautiful brocade blazer with blonde fur cuffs on their home page. Can't find it anywhere, so I imagine that is yet another item that has completely sold out. Infuriating that it happens such alot with BR.

Marsha check out some of the wrapping paper in Liberty too. I bought a few super-luxe sheets to liven up the under-the-tree presents. ££, but so beautiful. Our trees are going up this weekend, probably Saturday as we have a lunch date with some owners on Sunday and may not be in any fit state to put any decorations up after

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2013 12:18

Grumpy oh I know I love it. I remember getting some gorgeous flock paper. May have to indulge again, and strategically place the good ones!

QueenCadbury · 05/12/2013 13:31

No problem grumpy. I've never bought clothes from BR before but in gap cardis I can either be a s or xs so no promises!

I've also got a one use only 20% off code for full price BR should anyone want it...

libertychick · 05/12/2013 15:34

QueenC if the xs fits you then I'll happily take the s. So between me and Grumpy you have it covered either way Smile (unless someone else has pm'd you in the meantime...)

Marsha DH has had a few parcels from Amazon that are apparently for me - looks like box sets!! We have decided to just do small pressies to each other for Christmas and instead buy a piece of art or something antique for the house in January. So planning a few Saturday's driving around the galleries and little antique shops in the Cotswolds which is half the fun!

libertychick · 05/12/2013 15:36

Oh and any recommendations for galleries/antique shops gratefully received - not a huge budget - about £500.

MarshaBrady · 05/12/2013 15:51

Liberty what a lovely idea. I have no idea on Cotwolds I afraid. Will be fun to do.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 05/12/2013 15:52

Well, you know those lovely red suede Quinn cuff shoes I bought, when they only had 1 pair left which happened to be in my size? Well they arrived today, all good except they now look like a f*ing trench coat. I'm spitting, I'm so mad. Hope I can still get them

RubyLovesShopping · 05/12/2013 16:00

They sent a coat instead??

RubyLovesShopping · 05/12/2013 16:02

Ignore me if that's obvious to all and I just don't get it! Had scary day with tide coming over useless sea wall, was walking the dog after lunch and the sea appeared higher than the land, weird and scary and we legged it home!! And we don't even live in one if the places supposed to be affected.

shopafrolic · 05/12/2013 17:01

Magic shoes???? Amazing!

Dry thanks for the Dear Father Christmas recommendation - DS loves it! Magical.

Drywhiteplease · 05/12/2013 17:34

So glad you like it Shop it's the one Christmas book I just can't get rid of.

Writing Christmas cards.....hate them,complete waste of time. I LOVE Christmas, as you know, but the one thing I loathe are bloody Christmas cards;

  1. nice for people you don't see often, but the majority are work, neighbours, local friends, family I speak to a lot, total waste of time.
2.If I had the guts I'd donate to charity instead but there are a few uppity people who would get offended . 3.Then you get the card snobs who get offended if you send them a cheap card.......I send that one an Asda one Xmas Grin...........
  1. I also hate round robins, photo cards to non close family and cards that don't even have my name in!Xmas Angry
  2. DH always puts the on every surface .... Drives me nuts, they all fall off every time you open a bloody door and it's impossible to dust.Xmas Sad

Back to fashion Xmas Grin

Sleepwhenidie · 05/12/2013 17:42

Oh Dry I am so with you on the Christmas cards! I stopped sending any years ago and apart from a few from family, they go straight to recycling. Utter waste of time and paper, I agree.

We're getting our tree this weekend too - now that I am excited about Grin I bought a diptique Christmas candle (pine one in green glass) all ready to go.

Outnet order has been despatched Marsha Smile

Drywhiteplease · 05/12/2013 17:43

Then:

  1. What do you do if you can't remember the kids' names?
"dear Bob and Jane and family" crap Xmas Sad "Dear Bob and jane" they'll get offended because you think their wonderful kids don't exist Xmas Hmm "Dear Bob and Jane and your hideous kids who trash my house, never eat my food and never say thank you or please" obv not Xmas Grin
shopafrolic · 05/12/2013 17:44

Right

OneLittleLady · 05/12/2013 17:44

I don't send cards, I haven't sent a single christmas card since my Nanan died. I used to send her one every single year but now she's gone I have no one to send any to

foxysocks · 05/12/2013 17:54

they sent a COAT instead of your shoes linus?!? what the actual f?

I hardly do cards either. a few to family and friends if they send them to us, but none otherwise. DD designs them at school, hers are actually brill this year.

no sartorial news of note. have spent all day trying to recreate my xmas spreadsheets and order the last few things I need. I had no idea boden had gone on sale so annoyingly have missed out on a few bits i still had to buy.

i did order the all saints leggings, they are going to be my xmas eve pjs with a striped gap vest I got in the sale. code WINTER ends today for 20% off, and another 10% cashback via quidco if anyone is lusting after anything.
