shop I knew that had to be early 90s! I used to have a men's teal silk shirt that I wore with 3 buttons open and a jewel coloured plaid Victorias Secret bra flashing underneath. Love your one glove look! I bet everyone thought you looked smokin.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 01/09/2013 23:08

I saw the Chanel khaki polish in Sun Supp today and loved it. I have a khaki OPI one, but the Chanel looked nicer. Also loved the metallic khaki-ish one in the metallics feature. I'm still looking for a nice brick red one too - quite a browny-red.

santamarianovella · 01/09/2013 23:32

dec i like RL 90s ivy league preppy chic, still remember those amazing ads from 92-93,and the safari ads ,gorgeous!

marsha i did the switch very quick too,i think i didnt look bad preppy,,but whenever dh flicks through my photos ,keeps saying what was i thinking!

OneLittleLady · 01/09/2013 23:52

My early nineties favourite look was silver satin trousers and a peach, short sleeve button through cardigan Blush I was young though, I was only 12 in '95 Grin

LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 06:26

marsha I did grunge lite for a bit as well but then it was back to the preppy look. Wink

Today I am wearing my grey Splendid maxi tube skirt with a white H&M layering vest and a cobalt Esprit jumper and DH asked me why I looked so nice and if I had a date today. Hmm

I think someone is trying to compensate for not remembering what I wore when we first met...

AmberNectarine · 02/09/2013 07:20

I was an early 00s girl in truth. I wore some absolutely awful things - cropped combats, heels and a fishnet vest was my standard going out look. That or a belt of a skirt. I had a camo mini skirt from Bay Trading that I more or less lived in 02-03.

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 07:29

Morning! Back from friends, knackered and can't be arises to trawl through the end of vol19-just trying to catch up with this vol is enough!

When I first met dh I was wearing my nurses uniform (we worked together). Can't remember what he was wearing although on our first date he was wearing a grey and white striped jumper and jeans. I wore black trousers (oasis), blue top (next) and denim jacket with black sandals. I wore a denim jacket a lot then and he always laughed that I looked like a member of bewitched!

Uni days were pretty much 501s, grey tee and docs. By the last year thete I had moved on to more 'grown up' stuff which is just as well as my first job was in Chelsea just a stones throw from the kings road. My style changed a lot that year!

Drywhiteplease · 02/09/2013 07:30

Amber camp mini very A/W 2013!
Some great looks all........

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 07:30

Fo those of you that wear Chanel nail polish, do you not find it rubbish? I was so excited when I got some but it chips within seconds. I'm just glad that I didn't pay for it but used boots points.

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 07:32

this will probably be my next nail purchase. I love AW nail colours.

shopafrolic · 02/09/2013 07:48

QueenC reapply top coat every night. Mine's still on from Friday no chips yet....

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I had a lovely day - nice lunch outside by the Thames in the sun with my 3 favourite male persons and 3 gifts in Orange Boxes - a chunky silver charm bracelet, a new scarf (Laboratoire du Temps in the black, pink, grey colour way), and a new handbag (bolide in barenia/toile). Feel very spoiled and happy.

Sleep - hope the rest of our journey home went as smoothly as the first bit.
Novice - hope you made loads more progress decluttering - painful, but quite rewarding exercise.
Marsha - re getting tired of colour - that is exactly why I am scared of colour and stick to neutrals! My elder son is sick of all the black I wear and his advice to me shopping is "Anything but black!".
OneLittleLady - what a lovely idea for a present for your DH! Does he still have a player for vinyl? Also, re boot cuts - they are apparently back in - I purchased one from AG jeans which are lovely and soft.
shop so excited for you about the Vince jumper! I need to look for something similar.

What I wore when I met DH - well, it was leaving a nightclub, and I was wearing a tuxedo outfit, but with a bustier, shorts, fishnets, and black stilettos - I was channelling Madonna in Vogue. DH didn't get to see the outfit really as we were packed into a crowded club. What he remembers me wearing is what I wore to brunch the next morning - jeans, black polo neck jumper, blue duck boots like these, and a patagonia coat. Well, it was Boston in January, and he had the nerve to call me at 9am after being out until 3:30am for an 11:30 date

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 07:54

shop my Chanel wouldn't even make it till the evening without chipping Grin.

Mominatrix · 02/09/2013 07:58

Queen - I have a couple Chanel polishes, and don't find them any better than Essie - just the colour palette is better. However, the only polishes I wear are not the Shellac as I got tired of paying for manicures/polishes, only for them to chip within a couple hours.

AmberNectarine · 02/09/2013 08:35

I hate Chanel polishes. I genuinely prefer Rimmel. Doesn't stop me buying them though.

Drywhiteplease · 02/09/2013 08:36

Amber meant "camo" v in

MarshaBrady · 02/09/2013 08:40

Momin love your gifts, how beautiful. Glad you had a lovely day. Love your Madonna vogue outfit too.

Linus I was grunge-lite too. Kohl eyeliner and messy-ish blonde hair, lace up ankle boots with knee high socks. It was fun, discovering raves and what not.

Last day with two dc today. Long, long holidays. Autumnal enough for them to start now.

Umlauf · 02/09/2013 08:41

Chanel nail polish lasts all of 5 minutes on me. Opi about half a day. The best luck ive had is with Nails inc, but ive switched over to the Sensationail home gel system recently and get at least a week out of that.

Drywhiteplease · 02/09/2013 08:57

Mom what a lovely birthday.
You lot are so cool with your bras and fishnets and skirt/belts....I think I looked like a right idiot!
Like you QueenC I love autumn sultry colours on nails.
I agree about Chanel varnish, but it does depend on top coat and base coat...tbh though no nail varnish last longer than a couple of days on me. I'm a sucker for packaging shallow and get a excited about Chanel nails. They have fab colours too.

shop you'll probably miss DS !!!!
I'm giving Gigis a last outing.getting a bit chilly up here.greeat CPW though

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 09:22

My gap cords have arrived and I love them. They will look better when I lose the 4 lbs that I've accumulated over the past 2 weeks though Grin.

Just taken dd to nursery. Dd and ds back on Wednesday so just in the process of sorting out uniforms/labelling and getting distracted by MN!

LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 09:33

shop enjoy your child free time today. I should be enjoying it as well now that DD has started nursery (her first full day today) but I have to prepare the house for DS & Co. coming to visit tomorrow.

I might have a short nap later though as I haven't slept well these last few nights. My neck has been stiff and painful since Friday evening and I have no idea why.

mominatrix what lovely birthday presents!

No nail varnish lasts very long on me neither, but I agree, Chanel have some lovely colours and I like Essie and Opi as well.

I was very impressed with the shellac pedicure I had done before we went on holiday but I have to go into town to have it done so that's a bit of a hassle. (So I peeled off the shellac a couple of days ago and now my toe nails are ruined Blush )

santamarianovella · 02/09/2013 10:02

mom your birthday sounds wonderful, lovely presents too, love hermes bolide bag,

amber i remember those skirts! very atomic kitten, lots of my friends wore them with tank tops and silver glittered scarves, does anyone remember those?

linus your outfit sounds fab,

queen i find butter nail polish much better than chanel ones,

shop enjoy your free time, dd has not been feeling well, and dh thinks its best not to take her for first day,

MarshaBrady · 02/09/2013 10:03

Shop hope you're having a lovely day, gorgeous weather.
