Hi everyone, welcome Kali and Spotty!

So we finally got home at about 7pm last night, absolutely shattered. The night and today did not work out as planned however, DS1 has earache so I was up almost the entire night with him and now he is home with me whilst the other two are at the zoo with nanny, who they (and I Wink) have missed like crazy. So my great plan to get to the gym and sort loads of jobs has gone awry. I could in theory do some exercise later but am just too exhausted. Also just about to take DS1 to doctor.

On the bright side my MW order arrived. The IRO jacket is lovely, similar cut to my Marant one but softer and stretchier so easier for daytime wear. Definitely fills my quota of bouclé jackets for quite a while though Grin.

The Temperley dress is also nice but not really me and not great enough to justify the price tag, so that one is going back.

I have no idea what I was wearing when I met DH, it was through work and a hot summers day so I imagine a shift dress of some kind but not sure. I think he wore a suit but couldn't swear to it Blush. He became my client and I looked particularly well dressed on the days I had meetings with him before we actually got together Wink.

My hair is driving me maaad - I want to weep every time I look in the mirror, fringe is just horrendous, dark roots, dry ends, yeugh. Thankfully I have an appointment to get it sorted tomorrow.

Shop enjoy your first child free day! I just found out that DS2 isn't back at nursery until next Wednesday and I was thinking it was this week, same as the other two Shock. I love him dearly but it's been 9 weeks of school holidays already, counting from the start of DS1's .

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 16:07

Welcome home sleep. Love the iro jacket.

Am going round in circles about the 40 th outfit. Sorry to be so boring. The coast dress arrived today and it fits and is stunning. but do I want to spend ££ on a dress or jumpsuit that I'm never likely to wear again (bearing in mind that I have the lkb Davina in the wardrobe worn only twice). That's why I'd been thinking black as it'll be more versatile. Also I'm now wondering whether I should wear black 7/8 trousers and buy a slinky silky top which will be better cpw. According to dd though I won't look special enough as she reckons everyone will be in dresses. She's 7 though so what does she know Grin.

Spottybra · 02/09/2013 18:03

I don't have any links yet but looking forward to autumn to get my leather jacket out.

www.muubaa.com

It's one if their biker jackets that I have.

Have done a wardrobe clear out as my shape is so different after two children less than 2 years apart. Gives the term 'capsule wardrobe' more meaning.

LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 18:14

Welcome kali and spotty!

After DS my shape hadn't changed that much but it seems DD made sure that my lovely thin waist is a thing of the past Sad

anni wow, well done DS! My DS is slowly starting to look less like a monk which means it'll soon be time to cut his hair again. Shock

sleep I hope your DS is ok. I seem to remember that we always had an ear infection after coming back from holiday as we spent most of our time in the pool.

foxy well done on getting into the course.

turq 21 pairs of jeans!?

queenc that is a lovely dress which can be dressed up or down. If you want to wear it for work after your birthday, just add a jacket.

I'm with your DD btw, it's your 40th birthday party, so you should wear something that makes you feel special.

needastrongone · 02/09/2013 18:31

Might I join in if that's ok?

Needing a kick up the ass to keep up with my wardrobe and beauty regime and I am loving your suggestions.

I was wearing a tiny pink T Shirt (no kids, midriff smooth and taut - ha, if only I had appreciated that!) and a pair of Armani jeans, DH says my ass was lovely, all I recall is that they were bloody uncomfortable Smile

LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 19:53

Welcome needastrongone!

I used to get compliments about my pert bottom too. Those were the days.

There doesn't seem to be anyone around on MNV tonight but I'll ask my Monday Night S&B question anyway:

What 'look' or item of clothing do you absolutely hate on a man?

Apart from the obvious (white socks, socks in sandals, speedos etc) I absolutely loathe 3/4 trousers on men.

They're not shorts, they're not trousers, you're not a pirate!

OneLittleLady · 02/09/2013 19:58

I hate the 'painted on jeans' look that men seem to have adopted. It does NOT look good for you to look you're wearing your sisters jeans. Stop it.

BrandyAlexander · 02/09/2013 20:00

Oooh hello, lots of new people! Welcome everyone!

Linus, Paddington bear trousers without a doubt. Just wrong.

LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 20:03

But but novice Paddington Bear doesn't wear any trousers.

What are Paddington Bear trousers?

BrandyAlexander · 02/09/2013 20:09

LolGrinGrinGrin I meant RUPERT bear trousers!

shopafrolic · 02/09/2013 20:13

Welcome back Sleep - keep thinking, it's only one more week..... I feel for you!
Welcome newbies - Spotty, I have a Muubaa this one I love it
Kali Bravissimo can help you with bra sizing - I'm a 32E and they are fab in there.
Needastrongone great name. Welcome.
Are any of you on Pin?
Anni I am in awe of your hair cutting success!
QueenC I felt great wearing a dress on my 40th - I don't normally do dresses, but you need to wear whatever gives you confidence. Maybe spend the ££££ on the shoes / accessories (was it you who said you don't do shoes) Hmm
DS had the best time ever at nursery. My house is cleaner than it's been in ages, and my shiny new laptop is loaded up with all my music and pics so I am v happy. No sign of the Vince today - fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Sorry if I missed anyone - hard to catch up......

Right novice, that makes more sense. Is that where your dislike of tartan/plaid comes from Wink?

shopafrolic · 02/09/2013 20:24

Linus blokes in cowboy boots / cuban heels!

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 20:33

OneLittleLady · 02/09/2013 20:39

DP just came home with a new cardigan for me Grin only a cheapo tesco job but it's grey with black swallows on it. I lurves it, it will fit just right in my wardrobe. He said he passed it while going for some bread and knew I'd love it so he had to get it for me Grin

AmberNectarine · 02/09/2013 20:42

Those terrible cowl neck tops JLS brought to the male fashion consciousness. Was anything ever quite so unnecessary?

santamarianovella · 02/09/2013 20:43

skinny jeans are just soooo wrong on men.

needastrongone · 02/09/2013 20:45

Thank you for the welcome messages.

Just joined pin, need to peruse and faff around on it a while I think but loving the ideas it's throwing up thus far.

Men wearing football shirts. Not a huge fan of most tatoos on men in general, sorry if that offends. Men wearing tight fitting shirts who really ought not to be!

Oh the freedom of when your kids start nursery!

needastrongone · 02/09/2013 20:46

DH had a pair of cowboy boots when we first met........

He didn't have them very long!

santamarianovella · 02/09/2013 20:48

welcome all newbies!

welcome back sleep

ani well done!

one that sweater sounds very much like mcq, your dp has a great eye for coveted items!

LinusDKD · 02/09/2013 20:52

one that is so sweet!

I've got another one: the Simon Cowell Look. Tight tees and trousers hoiked up to your armpits.

santamarianovella · 02/09/2013 20:57

linus i so hate the way he dresses

also hipster style, not a huge fan of men wearing trouser braces with white tee. yuck!

needastrongone cute dog Smile

QueenCadbury · 02/09/2013 21:04

linus I was just about to say anything that Simon Cowell wears too! Can't bear those pae jeans and shirts showing off his hairy chest. Ugh. I actually love dh in 3/4 length trousers! amber I'm not sure I've ever seen a man in a cowl top...

MarshaBrady · 02/09/2013 21:04

Linus love those boots. I adore Dries.

Welcome Kalidasa, needastrongone and Spotty!

Great news Foxy! Sounds fantastic. I'm terrible when waiting for news by email.

Sleep welcome back. Love the Iro jacket, couldn't see the Temperley.

Linus: those 3/4 khaki cargo shorts with big ol pockets on the sides and flip flops.
