HoC Autumns

Thought I'd start a thread for autumns as the spring and winters threads seem busy and I feel I'm missing out!

I'm an autumn leaf and going for the style day soon. I haven't bought much this year as only had colours done a couple of months ago and waiting to discover my style before spending. I have been decluttering my wardrobe quite ruthlessly as I had a lot of the wrong colours/tatty clothes.

I did buy some Kettlewell tops and have had a few compliments so I certainly believe that colour analysis works.

Unfortunately my autumn/winter coats are black but expensive so I won't be replacing them for at least a couple of years.

Any suggestions for colourful hats/scarves/gloves to lift the black? High street brands please as I can't get parcels delivered to home.

Rules, go for the leopard sticks!!!!

A teal blouse sounds good, and I like the idea of gold chains. I find scarves in muted autumn shades are great at pulling an outfit together.

Rules · 27/09/2013 00:53

Melanie....Grin sorry its not me who wants the amazing leopard stick, it's Wombat.Smile

I'm quite looking forward to going to H&M for a good look now. I live thirty miles from the nearest one.

Rules · 27/09/2013 14:00

Meant to mention that I'm looking forward to going cause they seem to have lots of Autumn colours. I don't remember seeing sooo many Autumn coloured clothes around in previous years or maybe it was because I just wasn't tuned into " my colours* before Grin

Rules they have code for 25% off one item! accepted in the shop too.

Rules · 27/09/2013 18:09

Ooo where do I find the code snowlie? Just look online?

MelanieCheeks · 27/09/2013 18:18

Had a great shopping trip today - with a seemingly impossible brief ( ballerina length, suitable for dancing at a Scottish ball, washable), and found this perfect dress. Really happy with it, and lovely subtle autumn colours.
I'd been admiring that Jigsaw leather strap that someone linked to above, but they didnt have any in the Belfast store. But then I met my husband for lunch, we went to a jewellers where I had a 20% off voucher, which he took off me, and bought me a
burgundy leather Troll bead bracelet

complete with a new orangey bead, as an early birthday present!

snowlie · 27/09/2013 19:23

Just googled, enter 0747 and then 1304 for an extra £5.00 off h&m online. Sign up to emails from online retailers you always get massive discount codes, I rarely pay full price. You should be able to get the sales assistant to enter the code at the till, if not just buy it online.

snowlie · 27/09/2013 19:37

Melanie, I got the bracelet online - I think you can get it delivered to your local store. I love the one you got though...more unique.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 27/09/2013 20:32

If anyone is on a budget sainsburys has quite a few autumn colours in at the moment and 25% off at the moment too. Saw mustard, olive and brown skinnies, forest green blouse, brown tweed kilt and matching blazer, brown ankle length trousers, orange tops. Alot of god awful things too but I always find the fit and quality pretty good from there.

I treated myself to a camel cape coat £30, moss green jumper £18, rust scarf £7.50, cobalt blue top £14.

MelanieCheeks · 27/09/2013 21:03

Pricey, but Hobbs have lo key little black dresses with rust/ caramel block detail at the neckline. I'm loving them, but wAiting for the sale

Rules · 28/09/2013 01:33

Thanks SnowlieGrin

snowlie · 28/09/2013 08:24

Screwed up yesterday, on impulse I bought a scarf that was very lovely but clearly not an autumn colour, I didn't have my swatches with me and hence does not blend with my new wardrobe, it's going back but the shop doesn't do refunds so I'll have to put up with an annoying credit note.

Have been looking for an oyster white shirt, has anyone had a look at the www.meandem.com/collection/layering-shirt/products_id/1681/cPath/1007_1008_1014 layering shirt from Me&Em...is it an Autumn White?

snowlie · 28/09/2013 08:25

Blush Link fail layering shirt

TheWombat · 28/09/2013 09:17

snowlie that looks very 'oystery' to me, I think it would work with the autumn palette really well :) love the wool blend too, bet it feels gorgeous on.

What kind of shirt are you after? I find floaty blouses quite easy to find in oyster - boden and mint velvet have tons of them this season, but 'crisp white shirt' types are so hard to find. I'm not a crisp-white-shirt person really (just spend the whole time looking like a creased scruff), but they are supposed to be one of those wardrobe must-haves, aren't they.

snowlie · 28/09/2013 09:44

I suppose I'm looking for a lighter dimension to my autumn colours - all my best colours are the really deep bright ones, I think I need some light relief, lizard grey or oyster white are probably the shades that appeal to me.

evelynj · 28/09/2013 11:10

Loving all these clothes!

I have lots of bits that I love in my wardrobe but in wrong colours so going to attempt dying some.

Has anyone tried this & do we think the ecru here is close to lizard grey?

Will come back & let you know how it turns out-would only be White things for the charity shop now anyway-need to find an oyster dye for some White bits if anyone knows where to go.....

I've found some scarves on eBay-just ordered this, sure it won't be great quality but fed up of not finding anything in the shops

MelanieCheeks · 28/09/2013 18:15

The scarf looks lovely, eve, I have loads of fine scarves which are great at finishing off an outfit.

Today's charity shop bargain - a biscuit colourd cotton knit sweater from Hobbs.

Today's online shopping (had a £20 Jaegar voucher to use) - a multi stripe sweater and an apricot silk blouse.

evelynj · 28/09/2013 19:26

Well done Melanie-I got a lovely tan jaeger Jumper with gold buttons in the charity shop t'other day! Love the sound of apricot silk.

Sadly the only good colour I have apart from browns, olive & cream is the vomit colour, seems I suit very little so must invest in accessories! Disappointing as I have a rainbow coloured wardrobe so far!

Rules · 28/09/2013 23:16

Just been to Tesco's and they have 20% of all clothing this weekend so of course I had to get some things along with the weekly shop. Got a tomato red long cardigan, black skinny jeans, grey and black poncho, brown cotton woolly tights. I have also been and got some dyes to dye some of my existing clothes as have realised the colours are not right for me.

Rules · 28/09/2013 23:21

Evelynj....snap. I just said the very same thing. I went in my wardrobe and realised why I don't enjoy wearing a lot of my clothes. Since looking at myself in warmer colours it just clicked so I went off and bought dyes today. So ill wish you luck...please wish me luck to ha ha!!!! Im dying wool and hope it will also turn out a lizard grey brown. Will let you know.

Rules · 28/09/2013 23:23

By the way the White Stuff catalogue came today and there are some lovely Autumn colours in there and some gorgeous clothes too. Sighhh!!

Jemster · 29/09/2013 09:58

Rules I saw the red tescos cardigan and liked but what will you wear with it? I am getting better at spotting my good colours but I just dont know how to put things together. Can anyone advise me a bit?

charitygirl · 29/09/2013 15:46

Well, after the leather leggings not working and the me and em leggings not working, I've just ordered these. Completely not useful but at least cheap and if they're not completely unflattering, I'll enjoy wearing them. Good autumn colour at least!
