I hope you are taking your vits, MrsS. You have had an ultra-marathon of a year so far.

beachyhead · 13/08/2013 19:29

I can't remember the last time we went to the cinema on our own. What are you going to see?

motherinferior · 13/08/2013 19:52

MrsS, I am worried about you. Time for the doc?

I only have eight unread books left on my e-reader! Thank heavens for the others.

motherinferior · 13/08/2013 20:18

Addle, you need BTM's camping know-how..

The Shred - I remember a fab comment on another thread something about ' my favourite bit is saying fuck off Jillian as I turn the DVD off at the end' - made me chuckle....

MrsS look after yourself!

Cremo - hope you are okay.

CointreauVersial · 13/08/2013 22:17

Howdy crepeys, checking in briefly from surprisingly sunny Cornwall (this, I fear, is about to change). Holiday is going swimmingly so far, DCs are all being lovely, accommodation (both en route, and in Penzance) has all been spot-on. My bank account is draining as fast as my waistline is expanding, but that's the sign of a perfect holiday, innit. And I have sunburnt knees.

bigTillyMint · 14/08/2013 06:39

Addle, MrsS is right - we camped in St Cast (or thereabouts) a couple of times - near to Dinan/Dinard IIRC? Look for the Castels campsites website - we have been to loads, all lovely. But Southern Brittany (near Pont Aven) is my favourite!

Busy times for you house-movers - hope all goes well.

Stropps, I cant believe you have never been to the cinema with your DH - what are you planning to see?

The Shred DVD is vair annoying, but good for a quick fitness-fix. I have to say I prefer the gym or the circuits session run by a colleague for us after work! No exercise going on here at all, unless you count lifting the glass/fork to my mouth....

bigTillyMint · 14/08/2013 06:41

Oh and good luck with the job and house insurance, ruby. I leave all that boring stuff to DhWink

motherinferior · 14/08/2013 11:46

Cor, rural France makes me feel both chic and wraith likeGrin

Blackduck · 14/08/2013 12:13

MI :)

MrsS much strength.....

I am feeling washed out - not sure why - too much partying? ;)

Mum having pre-op checks today - will call later to see how things are going.

Cremolafoam · 14/08/2013 15:05

Hello there tout Le monde.
I'm hanging in there. Haven't managed to read the thread through I'm afraid. Dh improving a bit but early days. Sad
Just keeping my head down and life is ticking over.
I've never had such a clean house- the all stress has been transmuted into a cleaning frenzy. Shock I have spotless cupboard interiors.
Went to dentist yesterday with a sore tooth and apparently I've got shingles in my gob. Who knew?
Dds AS results tomorrow so fingers crossed.
Thanks for all kind vibes and messages. Thanks

bigTillyMint · 14/08/2013 15:09

Glad to see you're hanging in there Cremo! And cleaning, with shingles in the gob - never heard of that beforeShock Best of luck on AS results (and to babyhatty!)

Blackduck · 14/08/2013 15:49

Shingles in your mouth!? Wow - never heard of that. Big {{}} cremo!

And good luck everyone awaiting results (my neice is, but I don't think it effects her next step - she has turned down Cambridge to go to dance school)

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/08/2013 07:11

Crem - that sounds vile and really painful. Hope it clears up quickly.

Yes, good luck to those awaiting results. DH has just left to take DD1 to her boarding school and I am howling. Sad Her room is still absolutely full of stuff and it doesn't look like she has gone anywhere. She won't come back here again, and I don't think it's entirely hit her.

QueenQueenie · 15/08/2013 07:28

Oh Mrs S, have a big hug and a truck load of tea and sympathy. When will you get to see her next? Far better that she set off looking forwards not back if you see what I mean... and teenagers are shockingly adaptable when they want to be. But have another hug anyway. And a tissue.

bigTillyMint · 15/08/2013 07:47

Big {{{}}} MrsS. Will you have to pack up ger room?Shock Its all good preparation for when she leaves home entirely. I guess.

DH says his Alevel results are slightly better than last year, so fingers crossed the same for the ASs.

Blackduck · 15/08/2013 07:59

MrsS {{}} :(

Mum sounded absolutely wrung out yesterday - ever test known to man and a few more besides. They will call today to let her know outcome, but obviously all down to the consultant.

bigTillyMint · 15/08/2013 08:31

Oh BD, fingers crossed x

motherinferior · 15/08/2013 09:46

Oh huge commiserations to all! How grim. Many sympathies.

Stropperella · 15/08/2013 12:01

I hear it's verrrry hot in Brittany, MI. Grin We are enjoying the lovely drizzle here, though. Hmm

I like the list on the BBC website of what not to say on results day

BD, hope your mum's news is good.

MrsS, fingers crossed for a super-positive start for your dd1 in her new school. What a lot you have on your plate right now. Hope your dh is doing his share of the packing and admin.

Dh and I spent yesterday morning ambling around Exeter in a child-free haze. Went out for lunch and then came home and went to the cinema to see Alan Partridge. It's probably more of a TV movie really, but we had to go and see something on principle and that was the best on offer. Did laugh quite a lot. :) We have only ever been out together by ourselves a handful of times, so it's quite a strange feeling. We went out for a meal once before we got married and that's the only time we ever hired a babysitter. Dm has had the dcs to stay a couple of times in recent years, but that's often been because we had a lot of work on, so we haven't been able to go out then either. I'd like to hope we might have so more time over the next few years to do normal going out stuff.

Looks like dd might be home at the beginning of next week after all. She's hitching a lift back from Brittany with another local family. She tells me she is "very brown". I won't recognise her. We never go anywhere to get "very brown". :)

addle · 15/08/2013 13:28

Mrs S and BTM, thanks so much for campsite advice. everyone waiting for results, hope goes ok. my pfb is fine this year, thank goodness, having had a nasty shock last year and had to change all her plans and do extra subject. x

Blackduck · 15/08/2013 13:46

Niece got A* and 2 As....

Waiting for hospital to call.......

Stropps :) I have to admit dp and I rarely go out alone! Although we did curry night in the pub (a £1 an item) last night....

motherinferior · 15/08/2013 19:56

I wore a bikini on the beach today Grin

Otoh my shoulders are a lurid and embarrassing pink.
