dh said in the car on the way to Suffolk... I think I might grow a beard this holiday. I said I'd join him and see whose was most impressive after a couple of weeks.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/08/2013 22:43

You will find a hypermarket - Intermache, E LeClerc or Carrefour open tomorrow morning for towels, MI.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/08/2013 22:45

And tea towels.

QQ - DH grew a beard on holiday but you couldn't really see it, so it came off and the beard trimmer, eagerly purchased in anticipation, is now used for trimming the kitten's unfeasibly furry arse. I have offered to wipe the trimmer if he wants to try a beard again. Grin

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2013 06:36

Yes MI, hurry to the supermarche this morning - do not make the mistake of thinking there is all day on a Sunday
Remind me whereabouts in Normandy - we had many happy hols there when our DC were small, cute and easy (comparatively) to holiday with Smile

Yes QQ I dont think I have you on FB either - you are missing out on all our fab photos and MrsSs cartoon creations!

Had a meal in the a la carte Turkish restaurant last night - sitting perilously close to the pool; it made waitering an extreme sport! We had to wait ages for the mains which meant the DC had to chat with us, which of course meant yet more lurid tales of what goes on at their school Confused

herbaceous · 11/08/2013 08:38

MrsS - your arse-trimming antics made me roffle.

My DP has grown a beard over the holiday. I like it - it sets off his blue eyes and makes him look rugged - but he doesn't, and is going to shave it off. Though he may think again - he's buying a bike today, for the first time ever, in a 'new job, new me' initiative, so the beard may become part of that.

Now over-thinking my ranting letter to school over on the primary education boards. Responses vary from 'OMG get a life you sadsack' to 'criminy, that's dreadful'. I'm ignoring the former.

motherinferior · 11/08/2013 14:54

Yep, been to CarrefourGrin

motherinferior · 11/08/2013 17:55

Oh god I have just looked at that 'do you think you're fat' thread. I really shouldn't have.

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2013 19:00

Zumba, ruby? I am comicalSad!

What am I missing on the do you think you're fat thread? I am getting much more realistic about my body shape as I get older. Especially after a week AISmile

Stropperella · 11/08/2013 19:02

MI, stop reading depressing threads about fatness on MN and go away and enjoy your holiday. Grin Eat, drink and be merry and worry not about your BMI.

I spent last night in the company of my lovely neighbours and various of their relatives. Most of the party were more dh's age than mine, but boy could they drink. We scoffed hot dogs and burgers, quaffed huge amounts of wine and beer and ended up drinking some kind of cranberry vodka thing that someone had brought back from a cruise and then we were dancing around the garden and singing to Abba. Grin No bugger cared about what anyone looked like and it was all a lot of fun. Ds was shocked - again. Honestly, he should be used to his parents' disreputable behaviour by now. And I only fell over the once, anyway.

Took ds to the new Percy Jackson film this afternoon. He thoroughly enjoyed it, though he and his friend were grumbling mightily about how it bore very little resemblance to the book.

Zumba - I tried that for a few weeks before discovering circuit training. I didn't really get zumba, but then I don't dance unless I'm pissed as a fart. Grin

Stropperella · 11/08/2013 19:05

Aaargh, after posting that, I've just had a flashback to swinging myself around my neighbour's rotary clothes line, singing along to Waterloo. Blush

motherinferior · 11/08/2013 19:16

I am still considering running (for one thing it would get me out of the house while everyone is getting up, which has replaced toddler bedtime as the Horror Zone) so cannot comment on Zumba.

Stropps, I've done worse at parties Grin

Stropperella · 11/08/2013 19:23

Stop angsting on your hols and have some Wine and some lovely French food. The running can wait.

Life is too short for wasting it torturing ourselves about our shapes.

herbaceous · 11/08/2013 19:29

Strops! I want to go to parties with you. You always have an ace time.

Stropperella · 11/08/2013 20:49

Herbs Grin - I am sorely lacking in the hipness and sophistication departments, however I have a rather low tolerance to alcohol which results in me being reasonably good value in terms of silliness. Or so I am reliably informed by my fellow party-goers.

Am no good at decorous parties, though, and neither is dh.

QueenQueenie · 11/08/2013 20:52

BD. Thanks for taking pity on me. Have added you and pmed you back...

QQ I think I have accepted you on FB!

Stopps, ROFL at rotary washing pole dancing - how come these kinds of things never happen at the parties I go to? So much more fun than standing round with a glass in your handSmile

So those of you with teens, how do you supervuse bedtime when they are up way later than you?

bigTillyMint · 12/08/2013 06:27

And Stropps is quite right - stop fretting about your bodyshape MI and enjoy the lovely food - you are great how you are. Running is the devils work, anyway.

Blackduck · 12/08/2013 08:23

Agree re running - why, just why?!
Body shape - yes, my body is very different now, but only in last 5 years so I am finding it hard to adjust - I don't like it and lots of my clothes now look 'wrong'
Where's the fat thread - might take a look Grin
