Can we start a BODEN review thread for the AW stuff?

After much excitement at having a load arrive today I am sorely disappointed.

The trousers are TINY. I tried the very skinny jeans and can't even get the 10 to zip up, despite having loads of other size 10s in Boden trousers.

The Roma Ponte trousers are the same- tiny- and the rise is so short it's almost indecent. They feel like surgical stockings.

The peter pan dress is okay though a bit bulky around the middle even in an 8- so size down. Not sure if it's a keeper.

The cable jumper is itchy and shapeless.

The broderie jersey top is very big and makes me look PG due to the high empire line right across the middle of the bust.

So- everything going back and might re-order stuff using 20% off.

Has anyone got the EASY POCKET DRESS OR THE LIBBY DRESS ?

Just received the Paris blouse as a swap for the Everyday jumper. It's going straight back. Looks like it came straight from Primark, which would be fine if this was reflected in the price. Also the sleeves are about 2" too short. Quite a shockingly bad top considering they are selling it for £59!

Elliptic I liked the Cambridge shirt last winter. Am a busty 12 but the 12 fitted. Borgen style ;)

This year they didn't do it. I had to get the shirt but size up to a 14

Right - done a big return of preview stuff - libby dress (material too stiff), canonbury clutch (nice but having reflected on it, not sure how often I would use it in shocking pink), heeled brogues (quality not good enough for price and no pink laces!), rainy day mac (again on reflection, not sure how often I would really wear this as only shower proof) and retro necklace (not for me).
I have exchanged the everyday tunic in navy for fig and the colour is much better for me so that's a keeper. I have a burgundy leather biker jacket that looks fab over the top of it in the fig.
I have kept the bird print shirt and the elise top.
Elliptic - I am not blessed in the chest department but I think the shirt is well cut and worth a go!
I have now ordered the skye jumper in blue - off to the Lakes next week glamping so think this might come in handy sooner rather than later. Have also ordered the grey spot merino button back jumper to try.
Am contemplating the roll neck dress in the gold hummingbird print or the Marilyn dress in navy.
I also rather like the flat leopard print boots in the Johnnie B range.

I'd like to know if the Skye jumper is worth it. I ordered it 2 years back and returned as was massive and a bit rough.
Looking at the measurements now it is still big- in an 8 it is 37 inches across but only 21 inches long.
I can cope with roomy but not sloppy.

It's also not cheap - M&S, Uniqlo and maybe JLewis will have cashmere for not much more.

Skye jumper is huge and totally out of proportion on me. Just too wide to look good.

Thanks- I won't order.

I like those flat leopard boots too scarlet.

Have decided against the cashmere for now, will stick to honeycomb knit and leopard flats. Maybe if it goes a bit cheaper later in the year.

Did anyone order the boulevard tunic in the dalmation print - I thought it looked lovely on the model.

Any thoughts on this tweed dress? Chic or frumpy? I can't decide.

I liked that dress a lot MrsCB but I don't think it would work very well with my F cups. A sack of potatoes isn't any sexier with spots on.

Nice but only in smaller sizes for the check design.

I just received the girls dressing gowns - polyester and not half as nice as The White Company which are 100% cotton. Disappointing. Back they go.

Thanks LMH and scarlet, I think I will order in both 12 and 14.

Can I exchange shoes for a dress and still get 20% preview discount? (and the dress is cheaper).

Report
Missbopeep · 02/08/2013 15:20

Yes.

BTW- has anyone received any exchanges yet? My parka is on its way but it all seems very slow- it's as if exchanges go to the bottom of their to-do list.

why can't i find the dalmation dress anymore? it seems to have disappeared.

yes you can elliptic. am almost regretting not doing that for the extra sizes I ordered.

i received my switch this morning missbopeep but they sent it with royal mail which is always loads faster than hermes (who are a pile of poop, ime).

Report
Missbopeep · 02/08/2013 15:45

That's odd foxy because I get my Hermes delivery the same or next day and RMail can take almost a week.

I just don't get their exchanges- checked my email just now and some more exchanges are on their way (Hermes) but one item isn't ( is in stock) - all items were sent back at same time but all exchanges come in different packs and at different times.

It's all going back, and Boden should have an extra box on their returns sheet saying "It looks like shit on."

Edie dress - much, much, much too low. I am all for revealing a bit of decolletage, but this reveals nearly all of my bra. If I didn't wear a bra with it, you would be able to see my nipples peeking cheerily out of the front. Possibly do-able with a cami underneath but fuck that.

Empire line top - too tight over the tits - material went a bit "white" straining the lycra over my enormous bosoms, but you could have got another couple of people inside the bottom of it.

Smocked shoulder top - this was "alright" but no more than that, and to be frank, it can go back with its friends, as I was in too much of a rage to want it after the other two.

polyhymnia · 03/08/2013 10:33

I agree 100% on the Edie dress. It was just like that on me too - way, way too low. Why should I have to faff around trying to get a cami to look right. Camis are fine for just peeking out under something but not for doing the job the dress itself should be doing!

Smocked shoulder top quite dull but that too was way too low - similar problem to Edie dress.

Back they go.

Have to say the empire line top does seem to fit me OK, though - useful for casual dressing with skinnies.

The Autumn Parka came today- and is going back.

Long list of bad points but mainly it is flared from the waist down, the material is thinnish and the whole coat is long especially at the back. It's quite a rip-off imo even with 20% off.

Oooh Poly, we are Boden twins! Yes, the smocked shoulder top was also too low. Johnny's models are all of the tit free variety, and his low cut stuff just reveals an expanse of scrawny ribcage on them, which isn't going to frighten the horses, rather than the ample cleavage on those of us who are blessed with tits.

so in all I kept ONE jumper out of an order of $300

I must stop buying chunky knitwear though when for work i need fine knit, pref cashmere. The plain crew cashmered black cardi I got in marks last year was a GREAT work buy
