Have hoovered and made bed up for DS in law - DD2 has surpassed herself and made two quiches so I just have to add salad. I went to buy all ingrédients for a greek salad and forgot the feta. Worse than useless. Far too hot to return so it will be a cheesless greek salad.

I love the name Autumn at Crepey Towers by the way - we could do about 5 school years like that Smile

Going back to doing not very much and fanning myself.

Took child to purchase her birthday present for her father, which is not easy in the shoppes of Forest Hill...

HM, can you pitch tuna and anchovies into the salad? I am going to do a combo of Naice Tuna (jar, nice olive oil) and cannellini beans and sliced red onion and green beans for supper. A virtually-no-cooking no-brainer. And a vat of rose wine.

Thanks MI I'll do
that tomorrow

Good thing I glanced at this thread or the beans would have been even more overcooked! Can recommend highly. With, in our case, Low Part-Baked Rolls cooked in the oven; in yours, obviously Proper Baguette Grin

Hellooo. I couldn't find you all. And now I can't get up to speed. Am already on the Prosecco after a taxing work day (I worked for one of the first companies to import Prosecco into the UK, I'll have you know. And endured more than my fair share of customers sniffily dismissing it because it wasn't French. Numpties.).

Dd is off on a jolly camping trip around France with another family with bazillions of children but only 1 teen, so they apparently need dd. All worked well last summer, so hopefully more of the same angelicness for the next few weeks for them. She said she wanted to come back on the ferry by herself after about 2 weeks, but I have now found out that the ferry companies unhelpfully don't allow unaccompanied minors, so I may have to have a long w/e in St Malo. Which would be a terrible hardship, obvs. Either that or she has to continue on the trip until the rest of them come back at end of Aug.

I have had a day of advocacy and interpreting and have come away embarrassed by the NHS. Looks like I will also be working tomorrow with more of the same. If I were an outraged blogging type, I would have enough material to keep me going for a week. But I'm not, so I will just fester in a disgruntled manner instead. :)

Oh what a long catch upGrin my Internet is very iffy here . Last night on the campsite, then back to work on Monday. Have been watching dh pack car, it's very stressy as he was up before all of us throwing things at bags, most have which have had to be retrieved and repacked!

Last night dinner of French beans, potatoes, ham and cheese which was very good.

How about 'crepe with everything on it, please' Smile

Will be quite pleased to be home tomorrow night. Am missing dogs and am fed up of endless curfew discussions with dd1....

Looking forward to meet up whenever but first two weekends in September are bad due to old friends wedding to a man I've never met ( but she has asked me to do the reading, how odd is that!) and the goodwood revival which is local big event!!!

Happy Friday night and think of me on our LONG drive back to the ferry tomorrow! CV, I can always pick up at Portsmouth for your dd and hold her till you get to ours.

Hey Beachy good luck with the drive.
Glad you found us Stropps! Although I think a new thread is imminent ?

Work has been insane today. We are hosting this. There are many dishy firefighters and their hoses in town. I rescued some lost female Mounties this afternoon who were approaching a rather scary part of town by accident. I met 6 retired FBI agents at lunchtimeGrinGrin and a Belgian sharpshooter .
Bit of a strange old day for this town Grin
Bodybuilders competition tomorrow . Ooer mrs....Blush < hot flush

In S&B news, DD and I have just done a home-pedi (which DS then crashedConfused) - I rather foolishly tried a pair of clippers which I have never used before, so I cut most of my big toenail off and it started bleeding. Lucky the varnish of choice was coral!

Well, crepeys, a small dilemma.....

DH is out for dinner with colleagues, and expects to get home on the last train. Do I (a) stay sober all evening and wait for his phone-call, nipping out to collect him from the station at stupid-o'clock, or (b) pour another glass of wine, stick a key under the mat, and leave him to walk home (about a mile)?

Awww, Beachy, thank you for the offer of collecting dd from Portsmouth, but the ferry company won't let under-16s travel from France unaccompanied. She wants to come back by the 20th (we have a trad family outing happening on the 21st and she wants to be back for it - or so she says) and the other people she is travelling with aren't coming back until the 26th, hence her need to cross La Manche by herself. If she really wants to come back then, I shall pack my rucksack and go Poole-Saint Malo as a foot passenger (reliving my youth - ahhhh) and meet her. Good luck with your long drive home.

I'm feeling guilty, as he always comes out to pick me up as I stumble drunkenly off the train after yet another MN piss-up. I'll phone him and see how the land lies......

I'd do a] for maximum reciprocal points . Especially as there is an impending meet up. And at least you'll know he's not lying in a gutter somewhere singing ' I'm just a gigolo' at 4am ... bitter experience of office Xmas doShock

We're having a thunderstorm right now, so I'm feeling better about being sober (that would be mean if he had to walk home in it). I also need the credit.Grin
