I met a friend today for lunch at Harvey Nics of all places. Quite funny actually to see who turns up there. Some very made up women.

I had a quick look around and

This Isabel Marant leather skirt was really lovely. Very soft and luxurious, pic's not great.

Speaking of dramatic jewellery, wonder how heavy these are not that I could wear them.

The bar at HN always used to be highly amusing on a Friday night. Very ugly, very wealthy men and very young, very 'hungry' women!

Am off into London on Sunday for my pre 40th haircut and colour to banish all signs of grey, and hope to fit in a bit of shopping while DH is babysitting. Still looking for that petrol blue knit......

I am having a very shoe shaped week - am waiting on the arrival of two pairs of LKBennett courts and these Topshop boots. A much cheaper alternative to the ones I was drooling over on NAP.

Love the boots Hopefully - which courts are you going for? I'm so pleased with the ones I got on my shopping trip.

A pair of purple sledge and a pair of nude Florete, but I am contemplating swapping for nude Lauren and purple florete - pointy toes are so much better on me than rounded.

I am waiting on my Goldsigns and an Alexander Wang vest. My uniform basically.

Am going to CL next week, and DVF sample sale. Could be expensive...

Hopefully I've got the darker taupe Florete - they are fabulous and the colour works with so many things. The sledge are stunning but I don't think I could handle the heel height anymore.

Amber there were none in Jigsaw in town, but am watching one on eBay that isn't up to very much £ at the moment.

Hi all - have been so busy, trying to catch up now, but may be in process of becoming a background lurker - very busy weeks ahead. Wonderful to see Vogue #3!

Have limited my time online just like Fritzi (are you still here): have produced record amounts of tomatoes, had great nights out (a rooftop concert overlooking Rome, a big, splashy art opening, two fab restaurant nights), read more books (quite liked NW by Zadie Smith)...

Italy has transitioned to wintertime, and winter clothes are always a bit boring to me (emphasis on comfort and warmth, not style). It's still warm during the day but chilly at night, and the houses are cooling down - we actually keep our A/C on reverse, as central heating only kicks in on Nov 1.

Today a less glamorous day. Slept in a bit, then cleared a blocked drain, subcribed to the digital NY Times (need regular doses of intelligent reading to keep the brain from rotting), removed a few grease stains and put my slightly stained oatmeal-color Celtic houseboots in the washer (the boots are must in Italy during the winter - marble and granite floor are ice cold).

The only remotely style-related news item from this front: the chain of my very rarely used Mulberry Lily from the summer sales broke. It's under 12-month warranty, they are organizing it to be repaired, but still feel that 1) will never get another Mulberry bag - it's ridiculously bad design and quality control that a metal chain of a tiny bag can break, ever - and 2) that "luxury" really has lost its luster. Not that Mulberry is luxury, exactly, but I'm tired of being duped to pay high prices for items that are marked up beyond all reason.

Oh, and also have ordered a pair of made-to-measure tall black winter boots. Interesting to see how they turn out. If they are even remotely fine, they will solve a lot of wintertime outfit problems.

What are you all wearing today? I'm wearing a home uniform of skinnies, cotton tunic, cocktail ring, red lipstick and Havaianas - that I resort to tunics and skinnies might imply that I'm in dire need of some style chat

First day of the shooting season for DH so he headed off in his tweed suit this morning looking very dapper. I am not so dapper in GAP skinnies, my Hudson tan ankle boots and my camel and black striped A&W knit. Love the knit but jeans are a lousy fit and probably need to go. I can't find a cheaper alternative to my 7FAM in terms of fit.
Totally agree re: Mulberry. My bags that bought from them 10 years ago are loading up so much better than more recent purchases.
Off to Kensington tomorrow for haircut and colour and then some shopping. The downside of DH shooting and me shopping is that we don't catch up as a family but if I don't get my hair done I'll look 50 on my 40th!!!

Hello all! I'm so glad the thread made it to a third edition .

I'm back from a week in the UK with DH and DD. Four days in London and three in the Cotswolds. Met some of our old friends and their families and had a brilliant time.

The thing that made me the most happiest was a big shop at M&S food department. Filled up our boot with Christmassy toilet paper, porridge, soda bread and Halloween tat and .

Also got the M&S stiletto heels in damson for £19 pounds. Love them!

Hope everyone is well. Will be indulging in some more duty-free champagne we bought on the ferry, mwah!

Shop I'm doing the hair cut this week too, the only thing that makes it less a chore is the magazines. Aveda isn't too bad, lighting is ok, and no loud brash music. It's not too bad I suppose.

We just got Mad Men Season 5 through the post.

I also saw a raspberry Céline in HN. And swooned big time.

But I can't really have an orange and a raspberry one...

Marsha I love love love getting my hair done. My hairdresser works on LFW so always has amazing gossip and there's always a skinny model or two to stare at. He's based on gloucester rd so lots of fascinating people come in, lots of embassy workers etc. Great for people watching! Lots of loud music but I agree, the chance to read a magazine or two in relative peace is fab!
Fritzi welcome back, your break sounds lovely. Where did you stay in the Cotswolds in the end?

I quite like going to the hairdresser - only time I get to sit down without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else!

I have just painted my nails royal purple. It is rather wonderful.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of an insanely expensive pair of leather leggings from NAP. Am not linking as am completely appalled at the cost, but I have saved up for ages for them. Hope they will be perfect.

I am on the hunt for a 'work' necklace (as in, I need to look vaguely business, but can still be quite edgy). I am liking this beetle one (posted a thread on it the other day), and also this one, but it is the wrong colour (needs to be not-black).
