Inspired by our reminiscenses about block heeled court shoes on another thread and my misty recollections about working in Next, what did you used to wear? To work, especially

Lots o' Navy

Lots of gilt buttons, and BURGUNDY. Mucho burgundy. And bodies! ARGGH bodies. I had a peach one IIRC. Pale 10 denier tights

crazyaccountant I still use Rimmel Hide the Blemish! No 1 make up essential in my book.

Also still love pale pinkish lipsticks, though in the 90's I'd have been wearing shades of plum & burgundy in an 80's throwback style, I think.

mosschops30 · 04/04/2012 19:30

They were called Global Hypercolour.

I remember geordie jeans Grin

noddyholder · 04/04/2012 19:35

loved this make up

hermionestranger · 04/04/2012 19:37

I too was 10-19 in the nineties! God but I was toned and slim then! (sobs).

I had a two tone shell suit (hangs head in shame), I remember wearing it for mufti day at age 11 and to Alton towers, I thought I was the bees knees! (flammable prat)

I used to wear over the knee socks and floppy dresses with lace up knee highs!

Lots of combats and tiny t-shirts with converses all stars! God I had a fab body then! Envy

I used to have an enormous bright yellow puffa jacket when I was 17! It was amazing and could light up a dark night!

I also had a brilliant dead made of fish net harlot I me dh when I was 17, he loved that dress! perv Grin

I also had an amazing Chinese style slinky dress and didn't require a wonder bra, those were the days!

Eyes two gorgeous boys and many passed years, adjusts tummy control knickers! GrinWink

hermionestranger · 04/04/2012 19:37

Naf Naf was THE brand at our school, along with wallaby shoes.

Henwelly · 04/04/2012 19:52

I had black jeans with green bums & a pair with red bums - huge baggy things that I wore with bodysuits. That was the worst early 90's crime!!

Does anyone remember the late nineties oriental phase? A la Charlene Spiteri, also funny oriental style sandals that were platforms all the way along. Oh and chopsticks in the hair - wtaf!!

Henwelly · 04/04/2012 19:54

Myname bet it was black!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 04/04/2012 19:55

Early 1990s

I vividly remember wearing a pretty floral short dress with black reebok shoes (I now fear it channelled Beveryly HIlls 90220).

I had 2 pairs of Nike Air Jordan, I used to wear them with black jeans.

Late 1990s

Very smart trousers, wide leg, preferably by Helmut Lang. With a crisp white tshirt.

I can't remember much else.

noddyholder · 04/04/2012 19:56

cyb you look great!

OracleInaCoracle · 04/04/2012 20:02

omgg they were gross

charitygirl · 04/04/2012 21:01

I went to a under-18s 'ball' when I was 14 - so 1992. MY three friends had matching stretch velvet mini dresses in 'jewel tones' but they were backless and I thought i couldn't go braless (I was right) so I didn't get one.

I wore...heavily flared, high waisted black bellbottoms in a fine knit crochet (a bit flamenco?) with a massive emerald silk blouson (must have been my Mum's), tucked into the trousers. Doubtless also with what we called 'heely boots' with the massive block heel.

I did not pull.

When I went for a work experience interview at the House of Commons in 1996 I had a vv stylish duck egg blue sleeveless body which I wore under a quintessentially horrible 90s suit jacket. Only after my interview and lengthy tour of the HoC did I realise Id forgotten to do the body up after my pre-interview wee, and the back flap was hanging down under the back of the jacket. Probably not an uncommon issue in the 90s.
