Inspired by our reminiscenses about block heeled court shoes on another thread and my misty recollections about working in Next, what did you used to wear? To work, especially

Lots o' Navy

Lots of gilt buttons, and BURGUNDY. Mucho burgundy. And bodies! ARGGH bodies. I had a peach one IIRC. Pale 10 denier tights

Early 90s I was indie in the day acid house tastic! and vintage 60s at night. I lived in clubs.

EldritchCleavage · 04/04/2012 13:57

Yama style twin! My French Connection cardigan was thick knit, but all one colour!

Pinkglow · 04/04/2012 13:57

ah those t Shirts that changed colour but always looked shit - normally paired with a mood ring.

My friend actually had a Take That Chocker LOL

noddyholder · 04/04/2012 14:06

these were my idols

AphraBehn · 04/04/2012 14:07

early 90s - single girl. Like wannabewild, short black lycra dresses or skirts, black opaque tights, ankle boots or chunky loafers, hot pants Shock, big 60s style earings, black velvet choker necklaces, wonderbras, scarves tied round neck, baggy blouses buttoned up to the neck, bodies, very matt lipstick. Move over Samantha Brick I looked the nuts Wink

mid 90s - office wear. Short skirt suits from Next. Floaty dresses. Think I started wearing colours other than black at this point.

late 90s - mum wear. Bootcut jeans, long maxi skirts,

I saw an outfit almost identical to one I wore in 1998 in Next Directory recently.

dexter73 · 04/04/2012 14:08

Ah the thread of my dreams! I must had worn nearly all these things in the 90's. One of my favourite clubbing outfits was a pair of black crushed velvet cycling shorts (WTAF!!) worn with a body. I loved those shorts! I also wore skirts that didn't cover my bum when I sat down, and probably didn't when I was standing up either!

noddyholder · 04/04/2012 14:08

and her

AphraBehn · 04/04/2012 14:10

I couldn't wear combats when they came out in late 90s because I was still carrying baby weight. All Saints had a lot to answer for! I also remember trying on my first pair of bootcut jeans and wondering if they would be a fashion fad and 'out' by the next year.

Only children tried to dress like the Spice Girls.

Stilla · 04/04/2012 14:11

Mid 90's I'd just moved to Barnes - the local uniform seemed to be leggings , timberlands and 'sloppy joe' sweatshirts ....... I bought into that .

Second hand 501's - lots of , some dyed denim
black strechy bootcut trousers.
addidas gazelle's
long satin floral bias cut skirts
shirts with 'interesting' patterns - I found one that can only be described as a '1066' battle scene in that shop in Brixton ( down side by cinema - name escapes me but great for 501's) I SO wanted it - luckily the voice in my head said 'for fucks sake - why??' . Was however gutted to find it gone next visit.

I remember doing the shorts overtights look - with shiny lycra dance like tights . There was a strict no denim policy in Swansea clubs and I was Ms Smug in my black denim shorts and tights and hideous shoes ....not tomention the even more hideous salmon pink tartan long line waistcoat Blush

IAmBooyhoo · 04/04/2012 14:11

i was aged between 3 and 13 in the 90's. i remember wearing alot of Tammy girl. i remember 'blossom' hats my mum made me and dsis wear. i remember white/cream woollen tights (maybe that's just a child thing rather than a 90's thing). i remember older cousins wearing long grass green skirts and pale faces with dark red lips and visible lip liner.

AphraBehn · 04/04/2012 14:12

The night I met my husband in a club (1993) I was wearing black pvc jeans and a black fishnet top with a wonderbra underneath Blush

piratecat · 04/04/2012 14:15

MsNorbury · 04/04/2012 14:20

the men were very interested

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 04/04/2012 14:20

Early 90's - (6th form/university) Cricket sweaters and rugby shirts, vintage, levi 501s and hot pants/bra tops/see through blouses with a wonderbra underneath.

Mid nineties - (work) black, black black suits from next. With an occasional bit of white.

Late nineties - graduated to non black suits and upgraded from next. So booooring.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 04/04/2012 14:22
