Beauty Boxes

I'm really tempted to try ones of these. Anyone recommend Glossy Box, Boudoir Prive, Feel Unique or similar? I keep reading beauty blogs to see which is best.

I have Glossy Box and Boudoir Prive (which has just changed to jolie box I think). Mixed opinions, some months are better than others, but so far I prefer Boudoir Prive/Jolie Box. Glossy Box keep sending nail wraps that I can't get along with, too big for my nails and just generally not very good. Both are quite good value though and I enjoy having a go with all the contents, even though it can be hit and miss. I think most beauty bloggers prefer the Carmine beauty box, but I can't comment as have never had one.

ARe they "proper" sized samples or just like the sachets you get in magazines?

I quite fancy the Carmine one and it's £3 off for the first month at the moment. I haven't tried any yet but think it would be a nice treat once a month :)

I have Glossybox, Feel Unique and Carmine. Did get Boudoir Prive but their customer service is shocking, so much so they've disabled comments on their fb page as it was all complaints.

FU are good as they send brands from their website. Carmine are usually pretty good at make up products and Glossybox are hit and miss.

I've had Feel Unique for the past 3 months and they have all been great. A good mix of full size and deluxe sample size products. I also like that they are the cheapest as they don't charge for postage, and everyone gets the same thing. I think it's fair to say that the value of the products each month is about £30-40.

I've also had Glossybox for the last 3 months too, and it has been hit and miss. People get different things, so you could end up with a box that's not as good as others that month. That's happened to me twice. The December box though was good across the board I believe. I was chuffed with it anyway. Again it's a mixture of full size and deluxe sample size products.

I got the JolieBox (Boudoir Prive) for the first time last month (yes, this has to stop), and I was impressed. I think they are more likely to do brands I haven't heard of, so more luxurious than Feel Unique. Am interested to see how things go as they've been taken over by JolieBox now.

There's also another one besides Carmine - it's called Amarya. It's an organic beauty box - I got one - their 2nd. Was really disappointed - there was a full sized eyeshadow, a little travel set of skincare stuff, and some body lotion, but then the other 2 items were the little free sachets of cream you'd get in a magazine, so in effect 40% of the box was made up of stuff you'd expect to get for free.

God what an essay.

I reckon for consistently high quality and good value boxes, you should go for Feel Unique. I think their buying power probably has a lot to do with the quality of the stuff you get. If you want more luxury, go for JolieBox.

So at the moment I stupidly subscribe to 3, justifying as things that I don't fancy I save and put in stockings /presents etc. But it's ridiculous. Don't do what I do!

Hello
Thanks for the advice - especially Porkypine. Whilst I was waiting for replies last night I ordered the December Glossy Box which seemed to have good reviews, but i do want to try the others too. I could maybe try a different one a month. I've been selling off beauty products I don't use on Ebay so by using that money its like swapping my old junk for new & exciting fripperies!

I get Glossybox, I've only had the December one so far though but I was really impressed with it. It was full sized and sample sized products and there's at least three products that I will be buying again :)

Yet again S and B leaves me poorer. I hadn't heard of beauty boxes until this thread, but have signed up for Carmine, Joliebox and Feel Unique. The plan is to try all three for two months, then ditch two and just keep one for the rest of the year.
I think it's a very good concept, and will be a lovely treat if the contents are good.

Beauty Box : For a monthly subscription ( £10 - £12.50) you are sent five large sample sizes of a range of beauty products. These can include good quality skincare, haircare, perfume, make-up, herbal tea, nail varnishes, shower gels and make-up brushes.

Feel Unique
Glossy Box
JolieBox aka Boudoir Prive
Carmine
Amarya Organic Beauty Box

There are no minimum subscription terms for them so you can buy 1 month and then cancel (you have plenty of time to do so). If you like them you continue to receive them and they charge your card automatically.

Be warned - if you sign up to 3 or so for more than a couple of months, chances are you'll see the same brands appear in different boxes.

I've been looking at the Facebook page of Boudoir Prive (aka Jolie Box) & the customer service doesn't look too good, so I'm not signing for that yet. I got a Latest in Beauty box before Xmas. Much cheaper & smaller than these boxes (£4.95), but worked out well as there was a free full size Balance Me lipbalm worth £8 & Clarins moisturizer worth about £9. LIB tells you what's in boxes too. The latest one is £2 more but you can choose 2 extra products - one can be the full size Balance Me lipbalm.
I'm really looking forward to my 1st Glossy Box - just hope I like the contents - I'll Ebay anything I don't use.

That's rather aggressive, darling. I don't know whether you have beauty, but you definitely don't have style...

I like the sound of these! (Love cosmetics) but I am a bit concerned they are aimed at the younger and of the market and not the 40 somethings group I belong to - am I wrong? Please say I'm wrong Smile

I think the Glossy Box is targeted at the younger end of the market (I still get it though as I am an in denial 30).

Feel Unique and Carmine tend to have more "older" samples than the others in my opinon. (I.e. anti ageing cream was in both the last boxes I got)

I get Glossy Box and the Amarya one. I'd highly reccommend either of these. Examples of "samples" are full size mascara RRP £15 from Glossy Box and full size Dr Hauschka Day Cream £23.95 from Amarya! I've been subscribing since October - didn't mean to get more than one box but now I can't decide which one to stop.

Glossy Box don't send everyone the same products and although I've not been unhappy with the ones I've received, I've wanted the ones I didn't get as well. Amarya send same products to all.

Glossy Box let you complete a questionnaire as to what you'd prefer to receive.

Fregley don't be nasty. I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally am sick of spending £££ on stuff that turns out to be crap when I use it, so I see these boxes as a way of trying out things that I may or may not buy again, and it's not great loss if I don't like some of the things in there.

As I said earlier, I've only had the one box so far but there was a full sized mascara in there that I'd wanted to try anyway, plus amongst other things a lipgloss and a foam shower gel that I'll definitely be replacing when they run out.

For £10 plus p&p I'd say that's pretty good going!

Buggy runner, I'm 32 and love the Glossybox Grin

My 1st ever Glossybox arrived yesterday & I was very pleased with it. There were 3 full size products - shower gel (6.50), eyeshadow & blusher (£15 - eyeshadows v good neutral shades - blusher a bit garish) Nip & Tuck Spot Gel (9.95 - I don't get spots so I'll Ebay it). There was also a mini Cargo lipgloss & a mini Deborah Lippman deep red sparkly nail varnish & remover wipe. It was 12.95 but I'll get £3 back on Quidco & by Ebaying the spot gel the whole thing will have cost me about £5 - Bargain!
