No Moosemama, with my (stupid anyway) theory you're just mama :)

moosemama · 16/05/2011 21:54

Thank you SomebodyNew.

The moose in question was actually a verrry big dog we had years ago before we had the dcs. One particular friend started using it and it kind of stuck. Actually, now I think about it - why is he still our best friend? Confused Grin

Dogsby · 16/05/2011 22:45

I rather love moose

Gosh, we're all so fat and ugly and common, it's a wonder we ever leave the house.

Ugh, what a vile thread.

moosemama · 16/05/2011 23:14

Just re-read my first post. My shoes of course have a 'sole' and not a 'soul' - I hope! Blush

sahm3 · 17/05/2011 07:33

Sahm3 - Actually are my initials, with my maiden name included, and I am not a stay at home mum.

sahm3 · 17/05/2011 07:35

Rubber type shoes of any kind should be banned!!

messybessie · 17/05/2011 07:38

I resent this thread (maybe because I do have some linen trousers)

But my main objection is that it's just a veiled attack on the fat. I am a size 16 and my arse is large. However, the trousers are neither here nor there. It's my arse that you have the issue with.

All this 'no-one should wear these unless very slim' is just another way to say Don't leave the house.

You pretend it's about fashion but it's not - it's about body image but you know you will all be flamed if you start that thread.

sahm3 · 17/05/2011 08:10

Actually messybessie If tailored any sized woman can wear linen trousers and look very, very smart. My mother in law Is one of the smartest dressed women I know and is probably a size 18, (shoot me down she wears linen trousers of every colour under the sun) a size 6 woman can have a saggy backside in poorly fitting bottoms.

KristinaM · 17/05/2011 08:21

I do think messie Bessie has a point. Though I suspect dogbsy started it as a bit of a laff and didn't intend it to offend. Im not saying that makes it ok

But it's not is it. It's bitchiness veiled as a wind up.

Then if people are offended the standard 'lighten up, where's your sense of humour' defences get wheeled out.

So yes, she knows how to wind people up - by being unpleasant. And yes, I have noticed she is being unpleasant and thus 'fallen for it'.

HouseOfBamboo · 17/05/2011 09:27

Oh dear, I thought I wasn't in the least wound up, but I was obviously wound up enough to find an unflattering capri pant pic .

I posted it in order to refute the opinions expressed upthread about how capri pants are trendy and flattering, unlike linen trousers. The 'model' in that pic has better legs than I do, fact. Now, you can't say that she wouldn't look better in a nicely cut pair of wide leg FULL LENGTH black linen trousers, could you Wink

bytheMoonlight · 17/05/2011 10:02

What I find most offensive, is that after slagging off the larger lady and making them feel awful, Dogsby has ignored all the questions asking what these women she has insulted should wear instead.

The only links she has provided are ones to laugh and humilate. No offers of advice and no links to alternative clothing.

Proving my theory that the only vile thing on this thread is dogsby herself. Shame DogsbyNet isnt interesting enough to keep her occupied over there

Fimbo · 17/05/2011 10:37

I am a 16 (although desperately trying to lose weight) and would not be seen in linen trews or capri pants. My 12 yr old skinny minnie dd wears capri pants and they look fine, I would look like the back end of a bus.

I tend to just wear jeans most of the time and on hot days roll the legs up to the ankle. Or a maxi dress.

HouseOfBamboo · 17/05/2011 10:50

Thing is there are linen trews and linen trews. I'd agree that the loose unstructured ones with drawstring waist suit no-one. But I've had a few pairs of jeans-style linen-mix ones from Next in black that were probably more flattering than the jeans that I normally wear.

Dogsby · 17/05/2011 15:53

dogsbynet! now there is a plan. Wink
not all larger ladies have fat legs though do they at ALL. in fact some super slimmos have wide calves.
i went with a mate who HATES her legs and bought her very normal capris from marks here bit.ly/kpARyD that were far more flattering than loose linen efforts

OP posts:
Dogsby · 17/05/2011 15:54

check OUT the horro that is the marks styling on that link.

tbh i think fatter women can look great in anything that FITS and htat is the right colour. several glam women i know over a 20 have sussed colour and accessories is the way to go

OP posts:
Dogsby · 17/05/2011 15:56
